Eerie Trailer for Horror Film “Dancing Village: The Curse Begins” Released

Dancing-Village--The-Curse-Begins.jpgLionsgate has revealed an official US trailer for horror thriller from Indonesia titled Dancing Village: The Curse Begins,

It is Directed by Indonesian filmmaker Kimo Stamboel (Macabre, Headshot, The Queen of Black Magic). The screenplay for Dancing Village is by Lele Laila and is produced by Manoj Punjabi.

“The village still holds many mysteries”, says the film’s synopsis. “Piece by piece of mystery is revealed, including the terror of the most feared entity, namely, Badarawuhi.”

The movie stars Maudy Effrosina, Aulia Sarah, Jourdy Pranata, Ardit Erwandha, Moh Iqbal Sulaiman, Claresta Taufan Kusumarina, Aming Sugandhi, Dinda Kanyadewi, Pipien Putri, Zainal Abidin Zetta

Lionsgate is set to release “Dancing Village: The Curse Begins” in select US theaters on April 26, 2024.

Watch The “Meet the Cat King” Clip For Netflix’s “Dead Boy Detectives”

Dead-Boy-DetectivesNetflix has released a trailer for “Dead Boy Detectives”, the streamer’s new series based on the fictional detective duo of the same name, and which is created for DC Comics by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner.

“Dead Boy Detectives” stars Lukas Gage, Briana Cuoco, Caitlin Reilly, Yuyu Kitamura, Max Jenkins. It is set in the same universe another Neil Gaiman Netflix series “The Sandman” that debuted in August 2022.

Here’s the series short synopsis:
Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine decided not to enter the afterlife to stay on Earth and investigate crimes that involve supernatural stuff.

Apple TV+ Debuts Trailer For Sci-Fi Series “Dark Matter”

Dark-MatterApple+ it seems is continuing its sci-fi run with the upcoming Dark Matter, an upcoming series with Joel Edgerton as a physicist who wakes up in a parallel reality. Also in the series is Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly.

The intriguing logline says: “There are infinite realities. This is the one where Jason Dessen (Edgerton) kidnaps himself.” I’m definitely

A story about the road not taken. The series will follow Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life.

Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. Japan Society Announces May Screening Events: Sans Soleil, Lumberjack the Monster, and Tampopo

tampopo-janus-filmsJapan Society, a 116-year-old nonprofit organization bridging the U.S. and Japan, today announced it will host three special screenings in May spanning classic Japanese cinema, a lauded documentary, and a major North American premiere. Japan Society is a storied institution that has presented Japanese art and culture for over a century, and its robust Film Program presents over 60 screenings from the silent era through to contemporary cinema all across the year.

Japan Society’s May events begin on May 1 with French filmmaker Chris Marker’s influential 1983 documentary Sans Soleil presented on rare imported 35mm. Driven by the desire to “capture life in the process of becoming history,” Marker traveled the globe and made a sprawling body of work that ruminates on the nature of memory and time. Of the several films he made in Japan, Sans Soleil remains the late director’s greatest achievement.

An unnamed woman narrates the poetic letters and philosophical reflections of an invisible world traveler accompanied by footage of Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Iceland, Paris, San Francisco, and, most significantly, Tokyo—a city whose people, streets, malls, and temples inspire the traveler’s richest observations.

Official Teaser Trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux Released

“Joker: Folie à Deux,” brings Joaquin Phoenix back as Arthur Fleck and introduces Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. On Tuesday night, fans finally got their glimpse to the sequel to 2019’s Warner Bros.’ Joker.

“I’m nobody. I haven’t done anything with my life like you have,” Harley Quinn tells Joker as she mimes shooting herself in the head.

The teaser trailer shows Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck meeting Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn as inmates at Gotham’s Arkham Asylum and the subsequent romance and chilling mass mayhem to the tune of Tom Jones and Sammy Davis Jr.’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love.”

The 2019 Joker earned Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for Best Actor and was a massive blockbuster, earning more than $1 billion at the box office.

Joker 2 also features in the cast Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz, and is directed by Todd Phillips who helmed the original.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to open in theaters on October 10.

Sloan Science in Cinema Initiative Spotlights Three SFFILM Festival Titles

SFFILM-2024Today, SFFILM announced the program slate of the Sloan Science in Cinema Initiative at the 67th San Francisco International Film Festival (SFFILM Festival) which runs April 24–28. Presented in partnership between the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and SFFILM, this year’s programs include three films and participation by Sloan Fellows and grant recipients at events throughout the Festival. 

“We are thrilled to partner with SFFILM on our continuing Science in Cinema initiatives,” said Doron Weber, Vice President and Program Director at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. “This year’s program features three original films, each of which recounts a very personal journey that links to broader scientific themes and addresses universal questions. We’ll be joined on the ground by the 2023 SFFILM Sloan Science in Cinema Fellows, and recipients of our Stories of Science Development Fund grantees who are all at the screenwriting phase of filmmaking. I am excited to have filmmakers from every part of the process together to benefit from each other and from audience interaction.”

Curated programs include three titles, selected by Jessie Fairbanks, SFFILM’s Director of Programming. “It is thrilling to present such a strong slate of Sloan titles at the festival.

“The Beach Boys” Documentary Official Trailer Released

The-Beach-BoysDisney+ has release the trailer for “The Beach Boys”, giving a first look at the new documentary premiering on May 24th.

“Play hard and strong, all the way,” heard on the trailer as it stars, with footage showing the group in the studio.

A celebration of The Beach Boys—the legendary band that revolutionized pop music—and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come.

The documentary traces the band from humble family beginnings. It also features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston and other artists including Lindsey Buckingham, Monáe, Ryan Tedder and Don Was.

The Beach Boys was directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, and is set to stream on the platform May 24.
