The Purge 5 Set For Summer 2020 Release

By Creative Media Times

Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Pictures has dated the fifth and final film in the The Purge film franchise, now set to open on July 10, 2020. The upcoming film’s official has not yet been announced.

Originally created by James DeMonaco, the action horror-thriller film series released its first film in 2013. That film starred Ethan Hawke and became a surprise hit for Universal Pictures, grossing nearly $90 million against a budget of $3 million.

The series started out as a home invasion thriller which followed a family during an annual Purge, a 12-hour lawless period when all crime, including murder, is legal.

That film was followed a year later by The Purge: Anarchy in 2014, The Purge: Election Year in 2016 and then The First Purge in 2018, which was in fact a prequel. DeMonaco wrote all four films as well as directed the first three. Derin Jacob directed The First Purge.

Though the upcoming film may be the last, there is a tv series based on the film that runs on USA Network. Last November, it was announced that the show will return for a second season.

Robert Pattinson Is Reportedly The New Batman

By Creative Media Times

Robert Pattinson in A24’s High Life

Robert Pattinson may be suiting up as the Caped Crusader in director Matt Reeve’s upcoming film “The Batman”. Variety is reporting that, although the deal is not yet complete, the former matinee idol is the “top choice” to play the role.

“The Batman” was originally supposed to star Ben Affleck as well as co-write and helm it. Affleck, who had played the role in Warner Bros’ Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad, and Justice League officially left the project earlier this year.

“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version, I couldn’t crack it,” Affleck said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Reeves signed on to direct the film in early 2017. He is known for critical and commercial hits Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) as well as the romantic horror film Let Me In (2010).

No other casting announcement has been made for the movie, though it is supposed to begin pre-production this year or early 2020.

The film would be Pattinson’s return to high profile movies since appearing in five global blockbuster film adaptations of the Twilight novels which concluded in 2012.

Since then, he has appeared in smaller indie films and worked with renowned directors as Werner Herzog and David Cronenberg as well as gained positive reviews in the crime film “Good Time” and this year’s science-fiction horror film “High Life”.
