Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power At SDCC

By Armando

rings-of-power-at-SDCC-12Hosting the show’s panel on Friday was Stephen Colbert, which many may know is a J.R.R. Tolkien superfan, even making a brief appearance in one of The Hobbit installments.

Series creators JD Payne and Patrick McKay and cast members on hand to give Hall H’s 6,500-strong fans the latest look at the series and discuss the Lord of the Rings prequel.

“If we are going to tell 50 hours of story, we want to make it worth it. We wanted to find a huge, Tolkien-ian mega-epic. Amazon were wonderfully crazy enough to say, ‘Yes, let’s do that.’” said Payne.

Cast members that took the stage first were Robert Aramayo (Endor), Benjamin Walker (Gil-galad), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Owain Arthur (Prince Durin IV), and Sophie Nomvete (Princess Disa), who talked about their experiences in being part of the show.

Shortly after, the second group of actors arrived, including smael Cruz Córdova (Arondir), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Tyrone Muhafidin (Theo), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Megan Richard (Poppy), Dylan Smith (Largo), Sara Zwangobani (Marigold), and Daniel Weyman (The Stranger).

Among the stunning clips shown were that of The Stranger (Daniel Weyman), who were found near the Harfoots’ home after a comet crashes and creates a crater.

Also presented before the panel was something many didn’t expect, which I have to say, was one of the most exciting moments at SDCC this year. Bear McCeary, who composed the score for the series, as well as an orchestra which performed some of the music from the show. The composer opened the panel with a live performance.

The LOTR prequel is set to debut Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” Arrives At San Diego Comic-Con

By Armando

Dungeons and DragonsParamount brought the cast and crew of “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” into Comic-Con 2022, which kicked off the major studio panels at Hall H today, Thursday July 21, 2022.

The studio also debuted the first trailer, as well as a couple of clips for the upcoming role-playing, fantasy action-adventure comedy film which is co-written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

The duo, who previously directed Game Night, were on the SDCC stage along with producer Jeremy Latcham. “You are literally the first people to see all this,” said Daley.

“Both of us have a long history with DnD, we should start with that,” Goldstein said. “I played 1st edition with my brother as a kid, and no matter what I did, my brother would kill me off in the first half. I would always end up in a gelatinous cube.”

They were later joined by the main cast Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Rege-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis and Hugh Grant who kept everyone laughing throughout the panel discussion. When asked what his spirit animal would be, Grabt joked, “I suppose I’m a tiger. It’s always been my nickname in the bedroom.”

Paramount Pictures also brought plenty of Dungeons & Dragons with a Tavern Experience outside the convention center, where visitors will get a 20-minute immersive experience. “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is based on the tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.

Also revealed during the panel was that Legacy Effects will be doing the creatures in the film. This is also the same team behind Grogu on “The Mandalorian.”

Here’s the film’s description:
“A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is set for release on March 3, 2023.

Teen Wolf The Movie At San Diego Comic-Con

By Armando

Cast members of Teen Wolf The Movie, Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin along with showrunner Jeff Davis were in SDCC’s Hall H Thursday, an all-around great day for Teen Wolf fans on Thursday, revealing a teaser trailer for the Paramount+ film.

The trio promoted the upcoming release of supernatural thriller teen drama to Paramount+. As the synopsis says, the wolves are howling once again in Teen Wolf: The Movie as a terrifying ancient evil emerges in Beacon Hills. Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, must gather new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against this powerful and deadly enemy.

Tyler Posey had wanted to bring the show back saying, “It just feels serendipitous that the show is back right now. We took a long enough step away from it to really appreciate it and miss it. The show consumed our lives for 10 years. And we were just constantly busy filming the show, and so I think we all needed a break.”

But it was the trailer showcase that brought the most excitement, especially seeing fan-favorite Crystal Reed on the trailer, to the delight of the crown in attendance. She was last seen on Season 3.

Before the panel wrapped, Sarah Michelle Geller made a surprise appearance and announced an upcoming P+ original series Wolf Pack, a Teen Wolf offshoot series on Paramount+. Gellar is set to star in and executive produce.

Teen Wolf the Movie is written and executive produced by Davis.

The Deadpool Creative Team Of Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, And Scott Koblish Reunite

deadpool october Halloween PartyThe Deadpool creative team of Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Scott Koblish reunite for an all-new one-shot story starring the beloved Scotch McTiernan in Halloween Party. This hilarious new one-shot will land on shelves from Image Comics this October.

“I stopped trick-or-treating after I witnessed Michael Myers as he terrified horny teenagers in an Illinois suburb at the end of the seventies. My pals Gerry, Scott, and I figured after our 4/20 book it was on us to be like our hero John Carpenter and ruin trick-or-treating and Halloween once again. Suck it, my favorite holiday,” said Posehn.

It’s a scary time in America—and we’re not talking about the razors in the candy anymore. When you might get murdered in a mass shooting, the clowns, monsters, and other creatures that go bump in the night have a harder time doing their job. It’s a hilarious bummer at this year’s monster mash. Scotch McTiernan and Weed Thing return and readers are introduced to some new favorites.
