Shudder To World Premiere Ambient Slasher “In A Violent Nature”

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, announced today that the radical third person slasher “In A Violent Nature” will World Premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

The debut feature film from writer and director Chris Nash will premiere in the Midnight Section. “In A Violent Nature” is a Shudder Original produced by Shudder, Peter Kuplowsky, and Shannon Hanmer, and will be released in 2024.

The film marks the fifth consecutive year that Shudder has brought films to the Sundance Film Festival, following Jayro Bustamante’s LA LLORONA, Josh Ruben’s SCARE ME, Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli’s VIOLATION, Christian Tafdrup’s SPEAK NO EVIL, and Laura Moss’ BIRTH/REBIRTH.

“”In A Violent Nature” is the culmination of a creative partnership between myself, Chris Nash and fellow producer Shannon Hanmer,” said producer Peter Kuplowsky, who is also the lead programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section.

30th Slamdance Film Festival Announces 2024 Lineup

The 30th Slamdance Film Festival, the artist-led “by filmmakers for filmmakers” organization, has announced its full film lineup for 2024. Celebrating 30 years of discovering industry-changing talent, the festival will come full circle, returning to the Yarrow Hotel in Park City, where it all started.

Kicking off with a screening of Oscar-winning filmmaker Carol Dysinger’s epic documentary One Bullet, this year’s festival will showcase an accessible lineup of 32 features, of which 17 are World Premieres, 75 shorts, and five episodics. On-site screenings and events will be held in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah from January 19-25th and online screenings will be available on the Slamdance Channel from January 22-28th.

“Our 2024 Slamdance lineup is a testament to filmmakers who dare to push their stories to the very edge of filmmaking, making it deeply personal yet globally resonant,” said Festival Director Taylor Miller. “Their raw passion and risk-taking echo our commitment to exploring uncharted territories of cinematic expression. This year, we proudly host the most inclusive and accessible festival we’ve ever had, staying true to the core objectives I aimed to cultivate with our programmers when I took this job.”

A celebration of emerging filmmaking talent from around the world, this year’s lineup consists of 113 films – 17 of which are World Premiere features – hailing from 20 countries including Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Greece, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, Palestine, Russia, and the UK (United Kingdom) among others. The 2024 programming was selected from more than 9,000 submissions, 1,729 of which were features. As in previous years, all films selected in the Narrative Features and Documentary Features competition categories are directorial debuts without U.S. distribution, with budgets of less than $1 million.

Apple TV+ Unveiling First Trailer For “Criminal Record”

The upcoming eight-episode crime thriller star Academy Award and BAFTA award winner Peter Capaldi (“Doctor Who,” “The Thick of It”), and Laurence Olivier Award and Critics Choice Award nominee Cush Jumbo (“The Good Wife,” “The Good Fight,” “The Beast Must Die”) as detectives in a tug of war over a high-profile murder case.

Here, an anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case — one a young woman in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy. The series touches on issues of race, institutional failure and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain.

Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” Sets Christmas 2024 Theatrical Release

Director Robert Eggers’ gothic horror film “Nosferatu” is finally set to be released on Dec. 25, 2024, Focus Features has announced recently.

Peter Kujawski, Chairman of Focus Features, stated, “The audacious filmmaking of Robert Eggers is always a gift for fans, and we can promise that his Nosferatu is planning quite the Christmas feast.”

Bill Skarsgård, known for playing Pennywise in the It horror films, plays the titular vampire in “Nosferatu”. The film also features Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.

Most recently, Focus previously co-financed and released “The Northman”, the historical Viking action thriller which Egger also directed and co-wrote with Sjón.

A new trailer has been released for “Griselda”, the limited series inspired by the savvy and ambitious Colombian businesswoman Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history.

The six-episode crime drama sees Vergara in the title role of Miami drug queenpin Griselda Blanco.

The film stars Sofía Vergara, Alberto Guerra, Christian Tappan, Karol G and Alberto Ammann.

Directed by Andrés Baiz, Griselda is set for release on Netflix on January 25, 2024

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” Trailer Reveals Anya Taylor-Joy

The first trailer from franchise veteran George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” has been released.

The highly-anticipated post-apocalyptic action adventure features Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Furiosa, the character played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road”, as well as Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus.

The films seems to be the origin of Furiosa, who was taken from her family and then joined up with a young Immortan Joe, previously played by Hugh Keays-Byrne in Fury Road, to lead the War Boys.

Fury Road, which starred Tom Hardy as Mad Max, was released in 2015 and was a critical and commercial hit. Hardy took over the iconic role from Mel Gibson who played the character in three prior Mad Max films, including the original in 1979.

Mad Max franchise creator George Miller also produced Furiosa, along with his longtime partner, Oscar-nominated producer Doug Mitchell (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Babe”), under their Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.

The official summary says: “As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. While two Tyrants war for dominance over the Citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland.”

Bradley Cooper will receive the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award at the 39th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Cooper will be honored on Thursday, February 8, 2024 for his critically acclaimed portrayal of Leonard Bernstein in MAESTRO from Netflix.

Bradley Cooper, born in Philadelphia, is an acclaimed actor, filmmaker, writer, and producer. New Trailer For Blumhouse’s “Night Swim” Released

Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, the producers of M3GAN, has released a second trailer for its upcoming supernatural thriller, Night Swim.

The film is on the 2014 short film by Rod Blackhurst and Bryce McGuire.

It stars Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Ray Waller, a former major league baseball player forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness, who moves into a new home with his concerned wife Eve (Oscar® nominee Kerry Condon, The Banshees of Inisherin), teenage daughter Izzy (Amélie Hoeferle, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and young son Elliot (Gavin Warren, Fear the Walking Dead).

Secretly hoping, against the odds, to return to pro ball, Ray persuades Eve that the new home’s shimmering backyard swimming pool will be fun for the kids and provide physical therapy for him.
