Matteo Pizzolo’s Godkiller To Be Developed As A Video Game Starring “The Boys” Aya Cash

Matteo Pizzolo Godkiller To Be Developed As A Video GameAya Cash (The Boys, You’re the Worst) will take on the voice role of a god-hunting dark witch in the narrative-videogame adaptation of beloved, bestselling comic series Godkiller by writer Matteo Pizzolo (Calexit) and artist Anna Wieszczyk (Home). Pizzolo, who penned the screenplay adaptation of his Calexit comic that sold in a 5-studio bidding war and is currently producing the feature adaptation of Black at Warner Bros., will write the adaptation.

Following her role as the villain Stormfront on The Boys, Cash will perform the Godkiller role of Bones, an anti-hero sorcerer who survives her world’s descent into dystopia and leads a vendetta against the cruel men and strange deities responsible for the end of the world.

Produced by Emmy-winner Brian Giberson (Power On: The Story Of Xbox), the project leads a new gaming initiative at Black Mask Entertainment, the busy production arm with more than two dozen features and series in development at studios and networks.

Pizzolo and Wieszczyk self-distributed the Godkiller’ comic at comic cons starting in 2008, where it grew in notoriety leading to a Warner Bros.-distributed animated feature written and directed by Pizzolo in 2011. The comic book returned through publisher Black Mask Studios with 2021’s ‘Godkiller: Tomorrow’s Ashes’ to overwhelming success, selling out of a 40,000 book print run on the day of its release and going on to sell through numerous additional printings. It quickly became one of the top-selling indie comic books of the year, and Black Mask’s all-time bestselling series.

Godkiller will next return to comic shops in September with the brand new series ‘Godkiller: For Those I Love I Will Sacrifice.’

Aya Cash is represented by UTA and Industry Entertainment.

Matteo Pizzolo is represented by WME and TFC Management.

Greenwich To Release Biographical Documentary “We Are As Gods”

Greenwich To Release Biographical Documentary We Are As GodsGreenwich Entertainment is set to release the documentary about American visionary Stewart Brand

“We Are As Gods” offers a deep dive into the many sides of Stewart Brand— the Zelig-like creator of The Whole Earth Catalog, an influential member of Ken Kesey’s “The Merry Pranksters,” and an early activist in the modern environmental movement. Brand, in his guise as cyber-utopian, coined the phrase “personal computer” and influenced many in Silicon Valley, including Steve Jobs, who have gone on to shape our modern world. Now in his 80s, Brand looks to leave a legacy for the long-term future with his efforts to rewild ecosystems by resurrecting extinct species. But his former allies believe he’s gone too far.

“We are as gods and might as well get good at it,” Stewart Brand wrote in 1968. A Zelig-like pioneer of LSD, modern environmentalism, cyberspace and futurism now urges people to use their god-like powers to fight extinction by reviving lost species, but his former allies in the environmental movement vow to stand in his way.

Also of note, Brand is the subject of a recent Penguin Press biography by John Markoff.

Directed by David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg (Bill Nye: Science Guy), the film will be released on demand starting Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power At SDCC

By Armando

rings-of-power-at-SDCC-12Hosting the show’s panel on Friday was Stephen Colbert, which many may know is a J.R.R. Tolkien superfan, even making a brief appearance in one of The Hobbit installments.

Series creators JD Payne and Patrick McKay and cast members on hand to give Hall H’s 6,500-strong fans the latest look at the series and discuss the Lord of the Rings prequel.

“If we are going to tell 50 hours of story, we want to make it worth it. We wanted to find a huge, Tolkien-ian mega-epic. Amazon were wonderfully crazy enough to say, ‘Yes, let’s do that.’” said Payne.

Cast members that took the stage first were Robert Aramayo (Endor), Benjamin Walker (Gil-galad), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Owain Arthur (Prince Durin IV), and Sophie Nomvete (Princess Disa), who talked about their experiences in being part of the show.

Shortly after, the second group of actors arrived, including smael Cruz Córdova (Arondir), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Tyrone Muhafidin (Theo), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Megan Richard (Poppy), Dylan Smith (Largo), Sara Zwangobani (Marigold), and Daniel Weyman (The Stranger).

Among the stunning clips shown were that of The Stranger (Daniel Weyman), who were found near the Harfoots’ home after a comet crashes and creates a crater.

Also presented before the panel was something many didn’t expect, which I have to say, was one of the most exciting moments at SDCC this year. Bear McCeary, who composed the score for the series, as well as an orchestra which performed some of the music from the show. The composer opened the panel with a live performance.

The LOTR prequel is set to debut Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime.
