Remastered Space-Mulet Hits Shelves In July 2024

space-mullet comicsSuperstar writer/artist Daniel Warren follows up Breakout success of Transformers, Do A Powerbomb with remastered sci-fi epic Space-Mullet in July 2024

Hot off the 2023 Eisner Award winning Do a Powerbomb and skyrocketing to fame with his fresh spin on the Transformers comic book series, Daniel Warren Johnson has another balls-to-the-wall adventure for fans in a new print collected edition of his long-running webcomic, Space-Mullet. This epic, intergalactic tale will be re-introduced to fans, feature remastered lettering, and include an all-new, never-before-printed chapter. It will hit shelves in July 2024 from Image Comics.

Johnson’s growing oeuvre has positioned him as the “It” writer of the moment in comics. The critically-acclaimed Do a Powerbomb snagged him an Eisner Award in the Best Teen Publication category—edging out the likes of such YA juggernauts as Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper, Vol. 4—and cast him as an industry high-flyer. In the follow-up to bestselling Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo de Felici’s Void Rivals barnburner, Johnson’s Transformers #1 issue premier laid waste to recent DC and Marvel launches with a chart-topping 150K copy instant sell-out that left a bevy of reprints in its wake.

Now Johnson’s Space-Mullet will provide fans with a peek at the comic that allowed him to cut his teeth on sequential storytelling and helped start it all.

“When I started Space-Mullet, I had just quit my steady teaching job, had no money, and DEFINITELY no work in the comics industry,” said Johnson. “This book was me throwing everything I had at trying to prove to the comics world I could make something special. The pages are humble, but are a huge foundation for what made me the artist I am now. See proto-DWJ come to life in these pages!!!”

Ghost Machine Welcomes Peter Snejbjerg

Ghost-Machine-Welcomes-Peter-SnejbjergDanish comic book artist Peter Snejbjerg is the latest artist to join Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Ivan Reis, Peter J. Tomasi, and Maytal Zchut at Ghost Machine, the recently launched, groundbreaking media company and the line of comics, published by Image Comics, co-owned and co-operated by all of its creators. The addition of Snejbjerg comes on the heels of last week’s major announcement that Brazilian superstar artist Ivan Reis had also joined the collective.

In his long and varied career, Snejbjerg has established himself as a prolific artist for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint working with bestselling writers such as Neil Gaiman and Garth Ennis, before moving on to DC Universe titles like Starman and JSA, and horror titles including the Hellboy-spinoff, BPRD for Dark Horse. He also illustrated a number of children’s books showcasing his trademark blend of dark humor and horror.

At Ghost Machine, Snejbjerg will reteam with Peter J. Tomasi—the duo had previously created DC Comics’ supernatural war story The Light Brigade—on Hornsby & Halo, part of Ghost Machine’s Family Odyssey universe. In Hornsby & Halo, nothing less than peace between Heaven and Hell is at stake, as demon daughter Rose Hornsby and angel son Zach Halo are at the center of a cosmic family swap. It’s Nature versus Nurture, as the age-old battle of Good and Evil is as simple as who speaks louder: the angel on Rose’s shoulder, or the demon trying to crack Zach’s halo. Teenage hormones have never been more epic.

“We are delighted and proud to welcome Peter into our growing Ghost Machine family. Peter brings a unique sensibility and style to all his art, and will no doubt enrich the quality we strive for in delivering the best books on the stands,” said the Ghost Machine creators in a statement.

Lumberjanes Meet Buffy In Upcoming Miniseries “The Cabinet”

Eisner and Harvey Award nominated writer Jordan Hart (Ripple Effects) and co-writer David Ebeltoft team up with up-and-coming artist Chiara Raimondi for the vibrant and magical five-issue miniseries, The Cabinet. This technicolor-drenched, tongue-in-cheek adventure begins in February 2024 from Image Comics’ Syzygy line.

Each vibrant issue will also feature an interconnected variant cover by Eisner, Shuster, Manning, and GLADD Award nominated artist Marguerite Sauvage (Faith, Bombshells).

The Cabinet follows an Indian-American teen, Avani, and midwestern jock, Trent, on a teleporting mission across a post-Cold War landscape to collect bizarre relics. Why? Well, because they need to summon the arcane powers of a resplendent 17th-century cabinet to fix a teeny-tiny mistake the last time Avani used it… a gaffe that inadvertently unleashed an ancient evil from its prison and killed her parents.

“Equally beautiful and creepy, medieval Display Cabinets (Kabinettschranks) inspired David and I after seeing one in person at a local museum,” said Hart. “We immediately knew we wanted to build a story around a baroque version with arcane power—but sidestepped a dark, gothic horror tale in favor of a vibrant supernatural adventure set in the early ’90s. The result is a world that combines Constantine with Clarissa Explains It All through a Lisa Frank-esque lens that only Chiara could deliver.”

Top London Creators Ram V and Dan Watters Launch Two New Series

First teased at New York Comic Con earlier this month, two new series from White Noise Studio members Ram V (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, Swamp Thing) and Dan Watters (Home Sick Pilots, Loki) will each launch new five-issue Crime drama miniseries in February 2024 from Image Comics.

First, The One Hand teams Ram V with artist Laurence Campbell (Old Haunts, BPRD: Hell on Earth) and colorist Lee Loughridge (Deadly Class) in an unrelenting procedural that will have readers guessing until the very end.

Neo Novena detective, Ari Nasser is about to retire with an enviable record, until a brutal murder occurs, bearing all the hallmarks of the “One Hand Killer” …which should be impossible since Ari already put him away not once but twice in the years before.

What follows is a deadly cat-and-mouse game as Ari pursues his quarry down the rain-soaked streets of Neo Novena. Ari will stop at nothing to unravel the secrets and ciphers of this case, but each revelation only leads further into the dark heart of his future-metropolis and Ari’s own beleaguered soul.

“The One Hand stems from one of those 3 a.m.-frantically-looking-for-a-notebook-to-make-notes kind of ideas,” said Ram V. “It took hold of my imagination a couple of years ago and would not let go until the story was made. It is ambitious, seeking to do new things in the medium and unlike anything I’ve made before. I cannot wait for people to experience it.”

This all-new, ongoing series will launch in January 2024 from Image Comics, Black Market Narrative and Mad Solar, kicking off the new year with an extra-length first issue and an accompanying mixtape from the Grammy Award-winning recording artist.

Moon Man follows Ramon Townsend, a man ready for a quiet life after gaining unexpected celebrity status for steering his ship and crew safely home from a near-disastrous moon mission. Radiant Black Story Arc Splits In Two Next Month In Catalyst War Shake Up

Known for pushing the envelope with unique twists, easter eggs, and multimedia tie-ins, the Massive-Verse’s Radiant Black, by Kyle Higgins, Marcelo Costa, Eduardo Ferigato, and Joe Clark, will have fans doing a double-take next month yet again—literally—with the release of two issues: Radiant Black #26 and the Radiant Black #26.5.

One storyline follows Marshall, one storyline puts the spotlight on Nathan, but both issues are a must-buy for readers to get the full experience. There are, after all, two sides to every story.

“The Catalyst War is the most ambitious story that I have ever been a part of,” said Higgins. “This is a story that we’ve been building up to for over two years, an event told across timelines featuring two different art teams telling two different stories each month. Both timelines are integral to the event—the different choices that Marshall and Nathan make and how they impact their respective worlds is at the center of what The Catalyst War is about. And by the end of issue 30.5, you will learn who won the vote and who will be Radiant Black going forward. That is, if either of them survives…”

The “.5” storyline will run through Radiant Black #30 and Radiant Black #30.5 before hitting fans with another jaw-dropping plot twist.
