First Look At David Harbour as Hellboy

By Creative Media Times

Lionsgate

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola gives fans their first glimpse of David Harbour as Hellboy on Wednesday, posting a photo of the actor in character on social media. “Holy crap… first look #hellboy,” Mignola posted with the photo.

Harbour’s version of the powerful demon looks accurate to comics, and is not entirely a different look from that of Ron Perlman who played the role in the 2004 original and on it’s sequel in 2008, Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

The character’s latest iteration does look grittier and imposing, more realistically muscular, and has longer locks of hair .

Set to be directed by Neil Marshall, the currently untitled Hellboy reboot also stars Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane and Daniel Dae Kim.

With the release of the image, production is moving quickly as principal photography expected to get underway this month. The film is expected to be shot in U.K. and Bulgaria. The film is set to be released next year, but no specific release date has been announced.

Patty Jenkins Officially Directing “Wonder Woman” Sequel

By Creative Media Times

DC/WB

Jenkins led Wonder Woman to critical and commercial success this summer, and on Monday, the director officially closed the deal to helm the sequel after a lengthy negotiation process, Variety reported.

To fans, this is more of a confirmation and less a surprise as Jenkins was widely speculated to return. While Wonder Woman broke multiple boxoffice records during it’s theatrical run, its been reported that Jenkins was already working on a script.

What is a revelation however is the amount she’s expected to receive for the job. According to the report, Jenkins is said to be paid “in the $8 million dollar range to write, direct and produce.” A substantial jump from the $1 million she was paid for the original.

This makes her the highest paid director of all time, above Nancy Meyers (What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday), who reportedly earned $5 million per film during her heyday. And as with similar deals, her fortunes could rise further given the “back-end of boxoffice grosses” deal included in the contract.

Gal Gadot is also set to reprise her role as the Amazonian warrior princess, and will next be seen in this November’s Justice League superhero team up. Wonder Woman 2 is currently scheduled to open in theaters on December 13, 2019.

“Suicide Squad 2” Finally Have A Director

By Creative Media Times

Warner Bros. Pictures

After months of search and numerous names thrown around to helm the film, from veteran director Mel Gibson to The Shallows’ Jaume Collet-Serra, Warner Bros and DC finally found their director for Suicide Squad 2.

According to a new report from Deadline, “Warner Bros and DC have chosen Gavin O’Connor” to direct the sequel which will bring back original band of supper-villain cast members Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto among others.

Gavin O’Connor seem like a natural selection for Warner Bros. He recently worked with studio for the Ben Affleck-starrer “The Accountant”, a crime thriller which verges into superhero territory that the star and director are also reportedly re-teaming in a sequel for.

A couple of months ago at San Diego Comic-Con, the film was officially titled Suicide Squad 2, signifying that the studio want to strike the iron while it’s hot after the original grossed a massive $745 million worldwide despite lackluster reviews. That film was written and directed by David Ayer, who is now moving on to Gotham City Sirens, a spin-off of Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie reprising her popular Harley Quinn role.

A release date for “Suicide Squad 2” is yet to be announced, though WB earmarked early April and mid-June of 2019 with untitled DC films, so it possible the Squad sequel will take one of those spots.

Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers Come Together In GENERATIONS: THE AMERICAS

The Generations series concludes with an epic team-up.

New York, NY—August 29, 2017— Throughout the course of Marvel’s GENERATIONS, our heroes have traveled to different lands and they’ve had a chance to meet their heroic counterparts and inspirations. Now, two of Marvel’s most iconic characters are about to finally stand beside each other, as the GENERATIONS saga reaches its epic conclusion in GENERATIONS: SAM WILSON CAPTAIN AMERICA & STEVE ROGERS CAPTAIN AMERICA #1.

Written by Nick Spencer (Secret Empire) with art by Paul Renaud (Captain America: Sam Wilson), the final chapter of Marvel’s GENERATIONS series finds Sam Wilson in a familiar situation: fighting alongside Steve Rogers. This Captain America, however, is a little different than the one who has grown to give the world hope.

“GENERATIONS: SAM WILSON CAPTAIN AMERICA & STEVE ROGERS CAPTAIN AMERICA is the capstone to Nick Spencer’s epic run on both incarnations of the star-spangled hero, his final statement on what it means to be Captain America, as Sam Wilson finds himself in a war not his own alongside a very young man who’s been given the opportunity to fight and to inspire—but who could use a little bit of inspiration himself,” said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort.

Featuring appearances by nine other GENERATIONS characters including Kamala Khan, Miles Morales, Captain Marvel, and Thor, it’s a story that sets the stage for the future of the Marvel Universe, and one you’ll only find at the Vanishing Point – and at your local comic shop.

“The Batman” Potentially A Stand-Alone Movie

By Creative Media Times

WB

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s news regarding a stand-alone Joker origin movie comes another revelation: Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” will also not be a part of DC Extended Universe, this according to his recent interview.

“When they approached me, what they said was: ‘look, it’s a standalone, this isn’t part of the extended universe,” Reeves said during Hollywood Reporters Kim Masters on her podcast, The Business.

Speculation regarding The Batman’s production have been going on for awhile now ever since star Ben Afflect stepped down from directorial duties citing an unmanageable workload early this year.

But that is all it is right now, speculation. It is entirely possible that WB’s DCEU slate could change depending on the performance of this November’s Justice League, especially given Wonder Woman’s recent success. At this point, there is no question that The Batman is moving forward, at least based on WB/DC’s DCEU lineup announced last month at San Diego Comic-Con.

One thing we’re sure of is Reeve’s enthusiasm to make his own Batman film, most likely in the same vein as Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight trilogy.
“I have a vision for a way to do something with that character that feels like it resonates with me personally, and a perspective that can grow out into other things.”

Marvel Announces Exclusive Agreement With Writer Ed Brisson

Ed Brisson joins the House of Ideas writing Old Man Logan, Iron Fist and more

New York, NY—August 21, 2017—Marvel Entertainment is excited to announce that writer Ed Brisson will bring his powerhouse storytelling and creative flair to Marvel in an exclusive agreement. Brisson, who has made his mark with engaging work across the comic industry, is currently writing acclaimed Marvel books Iron Fist and Old Man Logan. He will continue to write exclusively for Marvel in this new agreement.

“I’ve been a huge Marvel fan since I was a kid. I grew up with stacks of Spider-Man, Punisher, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and X-Men littering my bedroom floor. The comics would be in tatters because I would read them repeatedly, often having to tape the covers back on,” said Brisson. “I remember being on vacation when Kraven’s Last Hunt was coming out and begging my mom to drive me a half hour to the closest town with a convenience store so that I wouldn’t miss out on the latest issue. It’s still surreal to me that I’m currently writing some of those characters that I grew up reading. I don’t know that I’ll ever get over that feeling. I hope that I don’t.”

Kris [Anka] was the other missing link for the PERFECT RUNAWAYS creative team and I’m so excited to share them with the world!”
