Rogue State Is Highest Selling Premier Issue In Black Mask Studios History

Rogue State Is Highest Selling Premier Issue In Black Mask Studios HistoryRogue State #1 becomes all time best seller for Black Mask, selling out on launch day with a second printing announced. Black Mask is rushing Rogue State to second printing with two covers by Jasmin Darnell (Godkiller) that will arrive in both standard and ‘gallery’ (no-text) editions.

While Jasmin Darnell’s cover art presents a powerful image of post-apocalyptic street artist Dust Girl, Ramon Villalobos’ Tour Cover pays homage to the history of socially-engaged public art in San Francisco’s Mission District, where Rogue State is set.

Rogue State #1 reunites C. Granda and Matteo Pizzolo, who first collaborated on the acclaimed CALEXIT: SAN DIEGO project which partnered with Indivisible on a 2018 midterms Voter Registration campaign at San Diego Comic Con as well as a California-wide Get Out The Vote initiative and raised funds for migrant families separated at the US-Mexico border.

Rogue State combines Granda’s experiences coming of age amid political violence in Medellín-Colombia with Pizzolo’s street-politics, crafting the story of a near-future America overrun by political violence set in the embattled blue-enclave of ‘Occupied San Francisco.’

“I Didn’t See You There” Acclaimed Docu Debuts Jan. 9 On POV

I Didn't See You There Debuts Jan 9Gotham & Independent Spirit Award nominee and Sundance winner, “I Didn’t See You There” documentary from director Reid Davenport, is set to debut on Jan. 9 on POV.

The award-winning documentary feature will have its national broadcast premiere on PBS television series POV on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:00 pmET (check local listings) and will be available to stream with no PBS Passport membership necessary until February 9, 2023 at pbs.org, and the PBS Video app.

Shot entirely from the filmmaker’s literal physical perspective, both from his wheelchair and his two feet, I Didn’t See You There is a groundbreaking work of documentary cinema by first-time feature director Reid Davenport.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
As a visibly disabled person, filmmaker Reid Davenport sets out to make a film about how he sees the world, from either his wheelchair or his two feet, without having to be seen himself. The unexpected arrival of a circus tent outside his apartment in Oakland, CA leads him to consider the history and legacy of P.T. Barnum’s Freak Show and its lingering presence in his daily life in the form of gawking, lack of access, and other forms of ableism. Informed by his position in space, lower to the ground, Davenport captures indelible images, often abstracted into shapes and patterns separate from their meaning. But the circus tent looms in the background, and is reverberated by tangible on-screen interruptions, from unsolicited offers of help to careless blocking of ramps. Personal and unflinching, I Didn’t See You There forces the viewer to confront the spectacle and invisibility of disability. Offering both a perspective and stylistic approach that are rarely seen, Reid brings an urgently needed storytelling eye to filmmaking with a documentary that is powerful and emotional, thoughtful and raw, intimate and political.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” Latest Trailer Released

Avatar The Way of Water Latest Trailer ReleasedJames Cameron and team has released a new trailer for the director’s latest upcoming epic film, “Avatar: The Way of Water”.

The spectacular trailer showcases some of the technology the director has in store. In a recent GQ interview, he explains the algorithms, new cameras, and many other techs that came into use in making the film.

“It’s not animation in a Pixar sense where they’re just making stuff up,” Cameron said. “The actors already defined what they did, but it has to be translated from the captured data to the 3D-CG character. And there’s all sorts of AI steps in there.”

Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the movie stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Stephen Lang.

Get another peek at the upcoming sequel’s story in this new trailer. The film is set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar.
“Avatar: The Way of Water is set to debut in theaters on December 16, 2022.

On Nov.13 in New York City it received Best Documentary Short at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards.

The footage that filmmakers Jack Weisman and Gabriela Osio Vanden captured reveals as much about the behavior of the humans—including the scrums of wilderness paparazzi that descend on Churchill, Manitoba every fall—as that of the bears.
