
Cillian Murphy in ‘Oppenheimer’ (Universal Pictures)
The 2024 Bafta Film Awards nominations have been announced, with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer leading the with 14 noms followed by Poor Things with 11, and Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest.
The epic biographical thriller film piece is up for Best Film, Best Director, Best Leading Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Emily Blunt, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., along with other tech categories.
“It has been an outstanding year for filmmaking as represented by the 38 films nominated today,” Anna Higgs, Chair of BAFTA Film Committee, said in a statement. “They showcase ambitious, creative and hugely impressive voices from independent British debuts to global blockbusters. From complex moral issues through to joyful journeys of self-discovery, they all ultimately explore human connection. Which is why we go to the cinema: to be transported into new worlds, to laugh, cry, to be entertained and to be challenged.”
The 2024 BAFTA Awards is set to air on February 18, Sunday. It will also be released for streaming in the U.S. on BritBox.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) announced today the highly anticipated lineup for the 39th edition, which will run February 7 to 17, 2024. The festival will showcase 45 world premieres and 77 U.S. premieres from 48 countries, along with tributes featuring the year’s top talent, panel discussions, and free community education and outreach programs.
