Philip Pullman’s Fantasy Trilogy “His Dark Materials” Soundtrack Released

Award-winning composer Lorne Balfe’s dramatic soundtrack to the BBC’s adaptation of Philip Pullman’s fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials has been released digitally today from Silva Screen Records and will be available on CD in January 2020.

The main themes from His Dark Materials have already been introduced to the listeners through The Musical Anthology of His Dark Materials, released on Silva Screen Records in November 2019. For this concept album the principal themes were reworked, moulded and explored as each character’s theme is on a separate musical journey throughout the series. The themes are never fixed, there are no rules and they are constantly evolving. His Dark Materials original score provides a musical narrative drive across all 8 episodes. The album presents the music, including main character themes, as they appear through the series.

The score is performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Matt Dunkley. The leading cast for His Dark Materials includes Dafne Keen as Lyra, Ruth Wilson as Mrs Coulter, Lin Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Clarke Peters as The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo as Farder Coram and Anne-Marie Duff as Ma Costa, with Will Keen as Father McPhail and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.

Thrilling “Tenet” Trailer Released

By Creative Media Times

Director Christopher Nolan returns to his time-traveling roots, this time within the world international espionage in “Tenet,” with the film’s first trailer released today.

Like many of Nolan’s film, there is not a lot of details about the plot of the upcoming action thriller, which Nolan also wrote, as well as produced with Emma Thomas.

Here we see John David Washington as a mysterious agent of a top-secret group who may (or may not) be trying to prevent World War III. There’s plenty of cryptic dialogue, a car chase and a few things going in reverse that recall Nolan’s other mind-bender, 2010’s blockbuster Inception.

The film is stacked with big-name talents including Robert Pattinson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Elizabeth Debicki.

Last month, Warner Bros. also announced that a longer prologue for Tenet will be shown before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in some IMAX screenings, something the studio also did with Nolan’s other films including “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “Dunkirk.”

Tenet is set for release on July 17th, 2020.

Kurt Busiek Assembles An All-Star Team For Fantastic Four: Marvel’s Snapshot

Last week, Marvel announced MARVELS SNAPSHOT, a new series from MARVELS co-creator Kurt Busiek that brings together incredible creative teams to tell new tales showcasing Marvel’s greatest heroes.

The series debuts in March with a golden age romp by Alan Brennert and Jerry Ordway before this epic tour through the Marvel Universe continues later that month with MARVELS SNAPSHOT: FANTASTIC FOUR. This second installment will take readers into the zany silver age, turning the spotlight on the Fantastic Four’s own Human Torch in a story by comic book creators Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer. Known for books like Beasts of Burden as well as writing credits on animated series like Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Superman: The Animated Series, this duo feels right at home penning this classic tale rooted in the Marvel mythos.

“I’m still blushing that Kurt chose Sarah Dyer and I to tell one of the MARVELS SNAPSHOT stories, especially this one, because the Fantastic Four was my favorite super hero team book as a kid, and MARVELS did a great job of showing how the larger-than-life Marvel characters affect the average person on the street,” says Dorkin. “We’re trying to do right by both series, packing the story with as much heart, wonder and fun as we can for both older and newer fans to enjoy.”

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Tops Billboard After 25 Years

By Creative Media Times

Mariah Carey‘s Christmas festive classic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, which has been slowly climbing up the charts during the holidays every year, has finally reached the summit of the US Billboard chart, 25 years after its initial release.

The song previously peaked at number three last year.

According to Billboard, the song reached the top via 45 million streams, 34 million radio plays and 27,000 digital sales in the past week alone.

This marks Carey’s 19th number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, her last being 2008’s “Touch My Body.” She also holds the record for the most cumulative weeks spent at number one on Billboard Hot 100 chart, with 80 weeks overall.

The achievement also extends her record of having the most number one songs on the chart by a solo artist. Only The Beatles has more number one hits than Carey, with 20.

The song’s achievements does not end there. Carey now has a number one hit every decade since the 1990s, joining joining Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Usher. Should “All I Want for Christmas Is You” remain at the summer during Christ week, she will become the only artist in Billboard history to have a No. 1 hit in four consecutive decades.

By Armando

Paramount Pictures

Maverick is set to return to theaters and to the cockpit in next summer’s Top Gun: Maverick, and today Paramount Picture has unveiled a new trailer that fully embraces original’s thrills and nostalgia.

Cruise looks very much in his element, understandably given the role and the 1986 original literally put him on top of Hollywood. This sequel picks up decades after that film.

The new trailer didn’t completely reveal the film’s plot, but we do know now that this time around Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is back to the naval school as a captain teaching aviation and the tricks of the trade.

Miles Teller is also in the film as pilot trainee Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, Maverick’s late friend.

“His exploits are legendary. What he has to teach you may very well mean the difference between life and death,” we hear in the new clip.

The new trailer is also heavy on action, featuring some heart-pounding and hyper realistic air combat, and shots of fighter jets leaving trails of smoke as they spinning through the skies, a factor that made the original a classic and inspired a generation of aviators.

Fans of the original should recognize a version of “Top Gun Anthem” playing the background. The iconic instrumental theme for the 1986 film, which was in the original film’s best-selling soundtrack, was composed by Harold Faltermeyer & Steve Stevens. It eventually won Best Pop Instrumental Performance at 1987 Grammy Awards.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film co-stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer who will reprise his role as Vice Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.

The film co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer reprising his role as Iceman.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion), “Top Gun: Maverick” is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2020.
