Marvel partners with Stitcher to launch its first scripted podcast, ‘Wolverine: The Long Night’

Actors Richard Armitage, Scott Adsit, Bob Balaban and Brian Stokes Mitchell cast in key roles for spring 2018 series

NEW YORK CITY – December 5, 2017 – Marvel New Media and top podcast listening service and content network Stitcher (“Heaven’s Gate,” “Katie Couric,” “The Paris Review”) today announced “Wolverine: The Long Night,” the first-ever Marvel scripted podcast, launching in spring 2018. The 10-episode series will be available exclusively on Stitcher Premium until fall 2018, when it will see a wide release across all podcast platforms.

The show’s cast includes notable actors Richard Armitage (“The Hobbit”), Scott Adsit (“30 Rock”), Bob Balaban (“Moonrise Kingdom”) and Brian Stokes Mitchell (“Mr. Robot”).

The “Wolverine: The Long Night” story is a captivating hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy of the Marvel Universe. It follows agents Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall (Ato Essandoh) as they arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders and quickly discover the town lives in fear of a serial killer. The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage). Their search leads them on a fox hunt through the mysterious and corrupt town.

The process behind the making of “Wolverine: The Long Night” brings Marvel’s storytelling expertise into the podcasting world, breaking new ground for the medium. To provide listeners a sense of immersion into the story, outdoor scenes will be recorded in realistic-sounding locations including forests and a cabin. In the studio, actors will be recorded in an ambisonic — or fully surround-sound — environment, allowing them to move, interact with one another and fully inhabit their characters.

First Pic Of Brenton Thwaites As Robin Revealed

By Armando

WB.
DC Entertainment

It looks like Robin is getting ready to step on his own spotlight sans crime fighting partner Batman. On Friday, Warner Brothers released the first image of the Boy Wonder as played by Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites.

The moody character photo shows a side profile of Robin with the dark clouds on the background and his bo staff weapon resting on his shoulder.

From what is shown on the image, the iconic costume is faithful to the comics overall, somewhat a combination of the classic look from the animated Teen Titans and the modernized version we see in Arkham video games.

Designed by Laura Jean Shannon (who is also credited for Black Lightning, Iron Man and The Jingle Book), the stylized outfit incorporates the red and green with the yellow R badge, color palettes that followed the character’s costume since its introduction in 1940 by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson.

The actor is clearly excited about his new role. “Here we go!!! First fight scene with my R Kicking ass in a downtown Gotham alleyway. #robinrevealed #titans,” says Thwaites on Twitter. Thwaites recently appeared in this summer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and in 2016’s Gods of Egypt.

Based on various incarnations of the characters from DC Comics, the upcoming tv series follows the young group of superheroes known as Titans, with Thwaites’ Robin as the leader of the band of heroes which also includes Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft), Garfield “Gar” Logan / Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), Hank Hall / Hawk (Alan Ritchson), Dawn Granger / Dove (Minka Kelly), and Amy Rohrbach (Lindsey Gort).

Titans is set to launch in 2018 on DC Comics new digital service.

Marvel Announces The Return of The NEW MUTANTS

Members of the New Mutants and X-Factor join together in this terrifying tale

Who are the best heroes to bring together when paranormal events need investigating? Fans will find out in NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS, a six-issue limited series debuting this March from superstar creative team Matt Rosenberg (Phoenix: Resurrection, Secret Warriors) and Adam Gorham (Rocket).

“To me, The New Mutants exemplify everything I love about a superhero team,” said series writer Matt Rosenberg. “They are true underdogs, doubted and dismissed, but always ready to prove themselves. They’re the weirdos, the outcasts, the leftovers, and the misfits, but they are there for the people who need them.”

NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS finds Magik, Wolfsbane, Rictor, Boom Boom, and Strong Guy attempting to figure out why strange events are occurring in the universe. But there’s more to their mission than meets the eye…and a bigger mystery is brewing, as the team realizes Karma – the mind-controlling mutant who has brought them together — may not be telling them the entire story. With each issue serving as a standalone tale, the mutants will try to uncover the truth behind these paranormal events – no matter who they have to battle.

“They’re constantly in way over their heads, but always rise above. Our series takes all of that, collects some of the best New Mutants alongside some oddballs better known for their time with X-Factor and X-Force, and throws them into a mission they aren’t at all ready for. We pack it full of nods to the history of the team and hints about their future, and enough creepy moments, epic battles, offbeat humor, and dysfunctional family dynamics to make a book worthy of the title The New Mutants,” continues Rosenberg.

Deathstroke Introduced: Joe Manganiello Shares His Charater Pic

By Creative Media Times

Justice League’s second post-credit scene teased ruthless assassin and supervillain Deathstroke, In case you missed it, actor Joe Manganiello (True Blood) shared the first official photo of his character on instagram.

Manganiello’s Slade Wilson aka Deathstoke character was first seen when Ben Affleck posted a grainy test footage to Instagram last year, presumably for his standalone Batman film.

In the D.C. Comics, “Deathstroke the Terminator” is a highly trained master fighter with enhanced strength, speed and durability granted by an experimental serum and has a healing factor that enables him to recover from physical injury faster than a normal humans. He became an assassin highly skilled in various weapons such as swords and firearms and at one point single-handedly took on the entire Justice League.

Spoiler warning. In the intriguing end credits of Justice League, we see the return of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), apparently having escaped prison following the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and relaxing in a luxurious yacht.

A boat later pulls up and reveals Deathstroke. “Shouldn’t we have a league of our own?” says Lex which seem to reference the formation of fictional supervillain team Injustice League.

DC’s “Nightwing” Film Holding Open Cast Call For Lead

By Creative Media Times

art by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado

Do you have what it takes to be Nightwing? Well here’s your chance. Director Chris McKay has announced on twitter that there will be an open casting call for the coveted role of Dick Grayson aka Nightwing.

There will be an open casting call but that is like Vegas odds for sure. Don’t leave your career up to chance. Believe in yourself. Bet on yourself. Get an agent or a manager,” posted McKay. “Have an agent or manager submit your work. To the studio. An agent or manager protects you and also is an endorsement of your character. It means you take yourself and your career seriously… and so does someone else.

Earlier this month, McKay hinted that he’s prepping a “crazy good” script that could get pre-production to start next year. He also stated his intention to search “far and wide” in finding his Nightwing, so the director seem to be keeping that intention.

A few fan favorites have been suggested but the director apparently have not committed to anyone. Some of these well known names include Drake Bell, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, Jared Padalecki and Steven R. McQueen among others.

McKay recently directed The LEGO Batman Movie. The release of Nightwing has not yet been dated. It is possible that WB was waiting for how Justice League will perform, but now that the jury is out on the team-up film, its also possible that Nightwing will be its own stand-alone film. We’ll keep an eye on this.

Jude Law Joins Captain Marvel

By Armando

It looks like Captain Marvel has found it’s male lead as Jude Law joins the cast of the film opposite Brie Larson’s title character, Variety reports Wednesday. According the article, Law will be playing Mar-Vell.

In the comics, the character is the original Captain Marvel from an alien race of Kree who later adopted the identity of the recently deceased human scientist Walter Lawson.

While posing as Lawson, he meets and become a mentor to Larson’s U.S. Air Force character Carol Danvers. Her DNA is melded with that of an alien after an explosion of a Kree device. It remains to be seen how much of the character origins from comics will carry over into the film.

Jude Law is currently riding high after being cast as a young Albus Dumbledore earlier this year for the upcoming sequel of another major studio franchise Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He recently appeared this year in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Its interesting to note that Law previously played a “Captain” character in a comic-book inspired film before as Sky Captain in the 2004 sci-fi action adventure Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson) from a recent script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Previous scripts for the film were written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who is producing the film, announced this summer at SDCC that Captain Marvel will take place in the 90s before the Avengers were established.

Nick Fury, as played by Samuel L. Jackson, is also expected to appear in the film, while Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will play the villain role.

Captain Marvel is currently slated for a March 8, 2019 release.
