Focus Features Celebrates 30 Years of ‘Dazed and Confused’

dazed and confused 30Focus Features is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Richard Linklater’s critically acclaimed cult classic, DAZED AND CONFUSED, with a series of exclusive events and celebrations in honor of the beloved film’s enduring impact on cinema and culture today. Written and directed by Richard Linklater and originally released in September 1993, DAZED AND CONFUSED explores the last day of school—and one wild night—in the lives of high school students in 1976. The film features a stacked ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, and Anthony Rapp among many others. Anniversary celebrations first commenced in April timed to 4/20 when Focus hosted more than 100 anniversary screenings at theaters in major cities across the U.S, including Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Austin, Washington DC, and New York City.

The DAZED fun will continue with a weekend of activity at San Diego Comic Con from July 20-23, including an immersive pop-up at the Interactive Zone where fans can purchase exclusive anniversary merch (only available at the Con), photo-opps featuring iconic scenes from the film, and themed giveaways. Fans can also relive the film through three separate screenings on Friday, July 21, Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23 at the Digital Gym Cinema in downtown San Diego. During the Con, convention attendees can also enter a special sweepstakes to win a trip to Austin, TX, the film’s iconic setting, for a special DAZED reunion-filled weekend. The Criterion Collection’s 4K UHD DAZED AND CONFUSED Blu-Ray will also be available for purchase on site.

Additionally, Focus is partnering with Vidiots, L.A.’s legendary video store and film hub, recently relaunched at the historic Eagle Theatre, for a special DAZED AND CONFUSED takeover featuring two screenings in Vidiots’ newly renovated 271-seat, state-of-the-art cinema on Saturday, July 29th Fans attending screenings will be treated to a special commemorative movie poster as well as several DAZED-themed giveaways. Beer, wine, and munchies will be available for fans all day in Vidiots’ spacious lobby bar. Tickets for the Vidiots’ “Dazed Day” are on sale now.

DAZED Celebrations will culminate in a jam-packed cast reunion weekend in partnership with Austin Film Society on Sept 16th and 17th in Austin, TX. Kicking off on Saturday, September 16, the Round Rock Express will host a Dazed and Confused anniversary themed baseball game with exclusive merchandise, a pre-game panel discussion with members of the film’s cast and a first pitch thrown by Linklater. Then on Sunday, September 17, the Waterloo Greenway will present a special outdoor screening of the film at the Moody Amphitheater followed by a Q&A with Linklater and select cast. Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s Bestselling Series Geiger Gets Own Booth At San Diego Comic-Con

Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s critically acclaimed bestselling comic book series Geiger, published by Image Comics, will have a dedicated booth for the first time at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (July 19-23). Fans of the creator-owned series can flock to Geiger’s staffed booth #1320, located in Halls B/C, beginning on Preview Night, Wednesday, July 19, through Sunday, July 23.

Booth visitors will receive a limited edition, full color, eight page ashcan of the upcoming Geiger: Ground Zero featuring the latest adventure of radioactive family man Tariq Geiger, as he fights to protect his family in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Dark Sky Films Brings Lauded “LOLA” to Theaters and VOD

LOLA is a sci-fi drama set in 1940 England, which follows enterprising sisters Thomasina “Thom” Hanbury (Emma Appleton, Everything I Know About Love, The Witcher, Pistol, Traitors) and Martha “Mars” Hanbury (Stefanie Martini, Prime Suspect 73, The Last Kingdom, Make Up, Crooked House) who have built a machine, LOLA, that can intercept radio and TV broadcasts from the future.

The device gives them an exciting preview of the world to come, including music by the likes of David Bowie and the Kinks. But with World War II escalating, the sisters decide to use the machine as a weapon of intelligence, with world-altering consequences.

The film is director Andrew Legge’s feature debut, and written by Andrew Legge & Angeli Macfarlane.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
1941, sisters Thom and Mars have built a machine, LOLA, that can intercept radio and TV broadcasts from the future. This allows them to listen to iconic music before it has been made, place bets knowing what the outcome will be and embrace their inner punk well before the movement came into existence.

But with the Second World War escalating, the sisters decide to use the machine for good to intercept information from the future that could help with military intelligence. Official Trailer for “Corner Office,” A New Comedy Starring Jon Hamm, Danny Pudi and More

The film stars Jon Hamm, Danny Pudi, Christopher Heyerdahl, Allison Riley, and Shawn Macdonald. It is based on the novel “The Room” by Jonas Karlsson and is directed by Joachim Back. Ted Kupper wrote the screenplay.

In this workplace comedy reminiscent of Office Space and “Severance,” misfit Orson finds himself trapped in the absurdities of corporate life. As The Authority’s newest employee, Orson finds it difficult to connect with his enigmatic desk mate, Rakesh (Danny Pudi), as well as with the rest of his colleagues. His alienation deepens when he discovers a room he’s told doesn’t exist – a place that unleashes his true potential, leading to an ascent up the corporate ladder.

Buoyed by his newfound confidence, Orson invites a receptionist into his sanctuary, sparking a climactic clash between the corporate world’s harsh realities and his own wild fantasies.

First Trailer For The Upcoming “The Nun II” Horror Film Released

Warner Bros. has released the terrifying first trailer for the gothic supernatural horror film “The Nun II”.

Writer and producer James Wan had confirmed that the production for the follow up movie took place in France, which would coincide with the film’s setting and plot.

The original film, The Nun” was released in 2018, which told the history of the demon Valak. The character was first introduced in “The Conjuring 2” film. That film became the highest grossing film in the “Conjuring Universe”, making $365.5 million globally.

Directed by Michael Chaves, the film stars Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet and Bonnie Aarons.

The Nun II is set for release on September 8, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Eagles Announce “The Long Goodbye” The Band’s Final Tour

After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023, in New York.

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan, will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” Trailer

The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a blood-chilling cinematic event, as Blumhouse— the producer of M3GAN, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man— brings Five Nights at Freddy’s to the big screen.

The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

Produced by Blumhouse Productions and Striker Entertainment, the film is based on the video game franchise of the same name created by Scott Cawthon, who also wrote the screenplay with Emma Tammi and Seth Cuddeback.

Directed by Emma Tammi, the film stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is set for release on October 27, 2023.

MGM+ Renews Sci-Fi Horror Series FROM for Season Three

MGM+, a premium linear channel and streaming service, announced today that the contemporary sci-fi horror series FROM has been renewed for a 10-episode third season. Created and executive produced by John Griffin (Crater) and executive produced by showrunner Jeff Pinkner (Lost, Alias, Fringe), and director Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones), the series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. In the wake of Season Two’s epic cliffhanger, escape will become a tantalizing and very real possibility as the true nature of the town comes into focus, and the townspeople go on offense against the myriad horrors surrounding them. The series is set to return in 2024.

FROM is the second-most viewed series in the history of the premium network, behind the Emmy winning Godfather of Harlem, starring Forest Whitaker and co-created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein (Narcos).

Kyle Gallner & Holland Roden Star In “MOTHER MAY, I?”

“MOTHER MAY, I?” is the debut feature from writer-director Laurence Vannicelli, and it marks a breakthrough in mind-bending horror. Emmett (Kyle Gallner) and Anya (Holland Roden) unexpectedly inherit his estranged mother’s house after her passing.

As they sift through her estate, Anya begins acting more and more like Emmett’s mother – forcing him to question if she’s pushing him to confront his traumatic past or if she’s actually been possessed by his mother’s spirit. The cast also includes Chris Mulkey (Twin Peaks).

MOTHER, MAY I?, a psychological thriller from writer-director Laurence Vannicelli and featuring stars Kyle Gallner (Smile, Dinner In America) and Holland Roden (Teen Wolf) comes to theaters and on VOD on July 21st.
