First Trailer And Poster To Amy Winehouse Biopic “Back to Black” Released

back-to-blackThe upcoming biographical film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, from a script written by Matt Greenhalgh.

Marisa Abela as the late British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, who was known for mix of musical genres influences, and for her hit songs like “Rehab” and “Back to Black”.

“Back to Black” is also the title of her second and last studio album,, which was released in 2006, won five Grammy Awards and was a huge international, becoming one of the biggest albums in UK history.

Also in the movie are Jack O’Connell as Amy’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, Eddie Marsan and Juliet Cowan as Amy’s parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, and Lesley Manville as Amy’s grandmother Cynthia.

The film is set for release on May 17, 2024 by Focus Features.

Hollywood Icon Michael J. Fox to Receive Inaugural Visionary Award at DaVinci International Film Festival’s Sixth Edition

Fox will be honored with the inaugural Visionary Award, celebrating the human endeavor and the unwavering pursuit of progress, at the sixth edition of the DaVinci International Film Festival (DIFF), the announcement was made today by DIFF founder/director Chadwick Pelletier.

Fox Movie, directed by Davis Guggenheim and currently airing on Apple TV+, is the winner of many awards for best documentary, including four Primetime Emmys and numerous film critic associations’ awards, and has garnered 32 additional nominations, including the coveted BAFTA. The poignant film follows the life of the beloved actor and advocate, exploring his personal and professional triumphs and travails, and what happens when an incurable optimist confronts an incurable disease.

Bleecker Street’s “Out of Darkness” Sets Release Date

“Out of Darkness” will be released exclusively in theaters nationwide on February 9, 2024. The film, which had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest, was nominated for five British Independent Film Awards this past year, with a win for breakthrough performance for Safia Oakley-Green.

“Out of Darkness” is a survival horror film following a group of six who have struggled across the narrow sea to find a new home. They are starving, desperate, and living 45,000 years ago. First they must find shelter, and they strike out across the tundra wastes towards the distant mountains that promise the abundant caves they need to survive.

But when night falls, anticipation turns to fear and doubt as they realize they are not alone. As relationships in the group fracture, the determination of one young woman reveals the terrible actions taken to survive.

Adding to the film’s authenticity, “Out of Darkness” is shot on location in the Scottish Highlands with the use of a bespoke language called “Tola,” which was developed specifically for the project by a linguist and an archaeologist.

YA Graphic Novel “A Haunted Girl” Explores Mental Health Topics Through Horror Lens

a-haunted-girl-graphic-novelCo-writers and father-daughter team Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Bounty Hunters) and Naomi Sacks join forces with fan-favorite artist Marco Lorenzana (Incredible Hulk) for a YA graphic novel that explores real-world mental health struggles through a fantastical lens in the upcoming, A Haunted Girl. It will hit shelves this May from Image Comics.

The graphic novel will also contain an AFSP guide to suicide prevention resources, as well as a guide from the American Psychiatric Association (APA) on free therapy access options. Both organizations contributed sensitivity reading to ensure the depictions of mental health were authentic.

Keanu Reeves to Receive Inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award at 51st Annual Saturn Awards
