Acclaimed “NO/ONE” Comic Book Series And Podcast To Be Adapted Into Feature Film

NO-ONENO/ONE creators Kyle Higgins and Brian Buccellato team up with “Late Night With The Devil” producer Steven Schneider for the true-crime found-footage film, both adapting and continuing the multi-narrative superhero story, unfolding within the comic book series and star-studded podcast.

Creative-collective studio Black Market Narrative and development and production company ZQ Entertainment are teaming up for a feature film adaptation of NO/ONE, the critically-acclaimed comic book series by Kyle Higgins, Brian Buccellato and Geraldo Borges, and published by Image Comics, as well as its accompanying scripted podcast, WHO IS NO/ONE, which features a star-studded voice cast including Rachael Leigh Cook, Patton Oswalt, and Todd Stashwick.

The true-crime found-footage feature, I AM NO/ONE will be produced by Higgins and Buccellato, ZQ Entertainment’s Ara Keshishian and Petr Jákl, and Steven Schneider, known for his work on genre-defining films such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Late Night with the Devil. Stuart Manashil of Novo will serve as Executive Producer. The teaser trailer was revealed at Friday’s “Image Comics Presents: Enter the MASSIVE-VERSE” panel at San Diego Comic-Con International.

SDCC 2024: Keanu Reeves Receives Surprise Comic-Con Award

Keanu Reeves received an Inkpot Award for his contributions to comics and movies during Saturday’s BRZRKR panel in Hall H at Comic-Con 2024.

Inkpot Awards are to individuals for their contributions to the worlds of comics, science fiction/fantasy, film, television, animation, and fandom services, according to Comic-Con International.

“Honestly, if it were just my choice, I would have given it to you just for The Matrix,” said Eddie Ibrahim, Director of Programming at Comic-Con International, while presenting the award amid a standing ovation.

The actor and musician, who had his breakthrough role in the sci-fi comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure in 1989, has starred in numerous iconic films and blockbuster hits, including Point Break (1991) and Speed (1994), as well as the highly influential sci-fi Matrix film series.

“The Matrix changed my life. Over these years, it’s changed so many other people’s lives in really positive ways,” Reeves said about the iconic sci-fi film.

Reeves joined the panel at Hall H to promote his original comic book series BRZRKR, which he co-wrote with New York Times bestselling author Matt Kindt. It is set to receive a movie adaptation, in which Keanu will star, as well as a subsequent Netflix animated series. Comic book artist Ron Garney who had drawn BRZRKR was also in attendance.

The screenwriter of the eight-episode show “Terminator Zero” Mattson Tomlin, also made an appearance to talk about the live-action film adaptation of BRZRKR, which Tomlin is writing.

Alien: Romulus: Terrifying Extended Footage Revealed At Comic-Con 2024

Director and co-writer Fede Álvarez and the cast of “Alien: Romulus” showcased never-before-seen footage at Hall H during San Diego Comic-Con, featuring terrifying Facehuggers and a Chestburster.

The franchise’s original director, Ridley Scott, served as producer for this installment. Actors Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Spike Fearn joined the panel to discuss their experiences working on the upcoming 20th Century Studios film.

“While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” reads the synopsis.

“Alien: Romulus” is set between the events of “Alien” and its sequel “Aliens,” though Álvarez noted, “You really don’t need to have seen the other ones to understand or enjoy this film. If you have, it’s a treat. If you haven’t, then I’m jealous.”

Álvarez also answered video questions from surprise guests Ridley Scott and Guillermo Del Toro.

“Alien: Romulus” is set to open in theaters on August 16.

SDCC 2024: “In a Violent Nature” Sequel in Development

The sequel to the horror movie ‘In a Violent Nature 2’ has been announced at SDCC, during the The Bold Voice of Contemporary Horror panel. The original’s producer Peter Kuplowsky were in attendance for the announcement.

“In a Violent Nature demonstrated that there continues to be a yearning for new perspectives in the horror landscape. We knew immediately that this distinctive take on the slasher would enthrall fans and are glad to see the community embrace a new slasher icon in Johnny,” head of AMC Networks’ film group Scott Shooman said in a statement. “With the sequel, we aim to prove that Johnny can be bigger, meaner, and his kills can only get more impressive.”

Written and directed by Chris Nash, the 2024 Canadian slasher film was a surprise hit in 2024, after it premiered on January 22, 2024, at the Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight program.

“In a Violent Nature” is set to be released on the Shudder streaming service later in the year.

“The Bold Voice of Contemporary Horror” panel also had a lively discussion with David Dastmalchian (actor, Late Night with the Devil), Akela Cooper (writer, M3GAN franchise), and Angel Melanson (journalist, Fangoria) in attendance. The panel was moderated by Overlook Film Festival co-founder and director of film programming, Michael Lerman.

Panel. Ever. — “Celebrating 25 Years of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.”

Moderated by Good Burger’s Ed (Kel Mitchell), the panel highlights include a surprise live appearance by legendary actor Mark Hamill (Star Wars) to announce his role as “The Flying Dutchman” in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming fourth theatrical film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, an exclusive clip reveal of the upcoming movie, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, available August 2 on Netflix, and a first look at the one-hour special SpongeBob SquarePants, “Kreepaway Kamp.”

Official Trailer: Timothée Chalamet is Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”

The first trailer for “A Complete Unknown” starring Dune actor Timothée Chalamet as iconic folk singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has been released.

The biographical drama is directed by James Mangold and is set for release this December.

Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician BOB DYLAN’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

The film also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.

Multiverse Thriller “Hostile Dimensions” Sets Release

Described as “a twist-filled multi-verse thriller”, the film is from Graham Hughes (Death Of A Vlogger).

It stars Annabel Logan, Joma West, Josie Rogers, Paddy Kondracki, Stephen Beavis and Graham Hughes.

Hostile Dimensions follows two documentary filmmakers who decide to investigate the disappearance of a graffiti artist who seemingly ‘vanished’. As they delve deeper into their research, they encounter an ominous freestanding door which leads them on a dark journey through the dimensions behind it. Determined to uncover the truth the pair soon realize they have stumbled across something far more terrifying than they could have ever imagined.

SDCC 2024: The National Association of Voice Actors Returns to San Diego Comic-Con

NAVANAVA is returning to SDCC after a successful panel last year. NAVA is the leading advocate for voice actors and AI protections, will lead a discussion on how new standards need to be built for artists, performers, and producers to collaborate on great products, while still protecting individual rights to intellectual property, performance, and publicity.

One issues that is ever looming is the threat of AI, and very likely to be a major panel issue. “Entertainment performers and artists of all kinds must adapt to this groundbreaking technology that can not only replicate their words, art, images, voices, and movements but also feed machine learning to create entirely new content,” according to the release.

“Conclave” Trailer: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci Star

conclave-movie-2024The new trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller “Conclave,” Academy Award winner Edward Berger’s follow-up to 2022’s “All Quiet on the Western Front,” has been released.

In the film, Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, selecting a new Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of The Church.

John Lithgow, Lucian Msamati, Brían F. O’Byrne, Carlos Diehz, Merab Ninidze, Thomas Loibl, and Sergio Castellitto co-star.

Based on the book by Robert Harris, the film is set for a U.S. theatrical release on November 1st.
