New “Detective Pikachu” Trailer Released

Ryan Reynolds is back, this time as the voice of a world-class detective and exceptionally smart Pikachu in the upcoming science fiction action comedy “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.”

Directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens), the film is based on the 2016 video game Great Detective Pikachu. Justice Smith is also a lead in the film, playing former Pokémon trainer Tim looking for his missing father.

Also released they Warner Bros. is the film’s latest poster, featuring Detective Pikachu and Smith’s character standing on top of a building. You might want to look closely to spot a few Pokémons in it.

Letterman also co-wrote the script with Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit and Derek Connolly. The film co-stars Kathryn Newton, Omar Chaparro, Suki Waterhouse, Chris Geere, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.

“Detective Pikachu” is set for release this summer, May 10th.

“The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. “Green Book” Triumphs At 2019 Academy Awards

Biographical comedy-drama “Green Book” from director Peter Farrelly walked away with the top prize on Sunday’s Academy Awards, winning Best Picture along with trophies for its original screenplay and supporting actor to Mahershala Ali.

The win was somewhat a surprise, with Roma and “The Favourite” leading the nominations with 10 each heading into the evening.

Other big winners were Rami Malek for best lead actor and Olivia Colman for best actress for playing Anne, Queen of Great Britain in “The Favourite.”

It was however, “Bohemian Rhapsody” which earned the most Oscars, winning four. In addition to Malek’s win for playing Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, the film also took home Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

“Rocketman” Official Trailer Released

Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for Dexter Fletcher’s upcoming musical drama film based on the life of musician Elton John.

The film is reunites with the film’s star Taron Egerton, who plays the legendary hitmaker, with his Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher.

“Rocketman” will be Fletcher’s second consecutive film about a legendary pop musician after recently completing the Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Rhapsody has been a global blockbuster these past few months and is headed into this Sunday’s academy awards with five nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Malek.

Meanwhile, Egerton was last in last November’s action-adventure “Robin Hood” playing the titular role opposite Jamie Foxx.

Rocketman also stars with Jamie Bell as longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard and Gemma Jones. It is set to take off in theaters next summer May 31, 2019.

Chris Hemsworth To Play Hulk Hogan

The “Thor” actor is set to play wrestler and 80s’ icon Hulk Hogan in the upcoming biopic.

The film is set to be directed by “The Hangover” film series creator and director Todd Phillips, with the script to be written by Scott Silver. The two recently worked together in the upcoming “The Joker” film with stars Joaquin Phoenix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the biopic will focus on the rise of Hogan’s popularity and is described as an origin story of Hulkamania.

Hogan, who’s real name is Terry Gene Bollea, has had a big following in the world of pro wrestling, which later led to his mainstream popularity. He also appeared in a few films including his portrayal as “Thunderlips” in “Rocky III” (1982). In recent years, Hogan has faced scandals which led to WWE, formerly WWF (World Wrestling Federation) terminating his contract.

Bollea himself will be serving as a consultant on the movie as well as executive producer.

Hemsworth will next be seen in this summer’s upcoming blockbusters “Avengers: Endgame” and “Men in Black: International” and possibly later this year in “Dhaka”.

Writers Guild of America Names It Top Screenplays of 2018

Bo Burnham’s coming-of-age comedy-drama “Eighth Grade” and Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty’s biographical film “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” were the surprise winners of Sunday night’s 71st annual Writers Guild Awards.

“Eight Grade” was complete ignored by the academy, but it was victorious Sunday night, winning Best Original Screenplay. Burnham also recently won for Outstanding First-Time Feature for directing the film at the Directors Guild of America Award earlier this month.

This marks the first time that a WGA original screenplay winner went to a film without an Oscar nod since Michael Moore’s 2003 documentary Bowling For Columbine.

On th adapted screenplay category honors went to Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty for their “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” screenplay, winning over high profile films such as “A Star Is Born,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Black Panther,” and “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

On the TV side, FX series The Americans earned another farewell award tonight, while scribes from General Hospital, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Barry were given more pats on the back.

The ceremonies were held in New York and Los Angeles, with Roy Wood Jr. hosting in New York, and Chelsea Peretti hosting the Los Angeles ceremony.

BAFTA Winners 2019: Full List Of Winners

Although Alfonso Cuarón’s black and white family drama “Roma” won best film and best director (for Cuarón), it was “The Favourite” that went home with the most Baftas trophies, among them Outstanding British film and Best Actress to its lead Olivia Colman.

The acclaimed early 18th century period drama from director Yorgos Lanthimos received seven awards in total.

Also solidifying his march to Oscars is Rami Malek, who won Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Malek recently won the same at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
