AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER: Second Month Covers Revealed

The epic weekly takeover continues this February when Kim Jacinto takes the reigns to draw the second month of Marvel’s biggest team adventure, and Marvel is excited to reveal the covers for issues #679 – #682 of AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER by Mark Brooks.

“In month two of NO SURRENDER, the rubber hits the road as we learn what’s really going on and who is behind it,” says SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “A couple different Avengers make the supreme sacrifice, the action grows ever more intense—and the stage is set for the return of a major player in the Marvel line-up of stars! Oh, and the origin of Voyager!”

“Creating new characters in the Marvel Universe has been a blast. I can’t wait for people to find out more about Voyager, the Challenger, and the new members of the Lethal Legion our crew put together,” added writer Jim Zub. “This is classic super heroic action on a massive scale. Kim Jacinto’s pages are jam-packed with intensity.”

Co-written by Mark Waid, Al Ewing and Jim Zub with art by Pepe Larraz, Kim Jacinto and Paco Medina, AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER unites the casts and creative teams of three titles into one weekly book of exciting action. It all starts with AVENGERS #675 this January, when the teams of THE AVENGERS, UNCANNY AVENGERS, and U.S. AVENGERS come together in a story as exciting and powerful as the Marvel Universe itself.

Marvel Announces LOCKJAW Comic

The teleporting canine will embark on a whirlwind adventure in his new series.

He’s been a breakout star since he could bark, a faithful sidekick to his Inhuman masters, and has helped protect an empire. Now, he’s got his own mission to take on — Marvel is excited to announce LOCKJAW #1, a new four-part mini written by Daniel Kibblesmith with art by Carlos Villa.

When Lockjaw finds out his long-lost siblings are in danger, he’ll embark on a journey which will result in a teleporting, mind-bending adventure. “We’re super excited about this book. Daniel Kibblesmith—a hilarious writer who works on The Late Show and recently published a book called Santa’s Husband—has cooked up an incredibly fun, heart-filled romp around the Marvel Universe,” said series editor Wil Moss. “Back in BLACK BOLT #5, writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Frazer Irving finally settled the mystery of Lockjaw’s origin: He’s definitely a dog, birthed by a dog, who happens to have the power of teleportation.

But now we’re going even further: How did Lockjaw obtain that power? And is he really the only Inhuman dog in the universe? So in issue #1, we find out that Lockjaw’s got brothers and sisters.

From there, we’ll be following everybody’s best friend around the universe as he tracks down his siblings—along with a surprising companion, D-Man. It’s gonna be a fantastic ride, all beautifully illustrated by up-and-comer Carlos Villa. So grab on to the leash and come with.”

Ben Mendelsohn In Talks To Play Villain Role In “Captain Marvel”

By Creative Media Times

Mendelsohn as Director Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Lucasfilm Ltd.

It looks like production of Captain Marvel is starting to develop. Australian actor Paul Benjamin Mendelsohn is said to be in negotiations for the main villain role in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, Variety reports.

The exact identity of the villain character that he will be playing has not been revealed, although Marvel Studios head Kevin Fiege mentioned at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con that the movie’s villains will be the The Skrulls.

The actor is recently in plenty of high profile projects, including last year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where he played Orson Krennic, the director of advanced weapons research for the imperial military, in later this year’s Darkest Hour as King George VI, and next year’s Steven Spielberg directed Ready Player One as Nolan Sorrento.

Last year, it was announced that Brie Larson will be playing Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, the very first ever female-centric superhero movie in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Danvers is a skilled test pilot whose DNA is melded with that of an alien after an accident. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is also set to appear in the film.

Produced by Kevin Feige and to be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind and Half-Nelson), Captain Marvel is set to be released on March 8, 2019.

Intense New Trailer For Netflix/Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’

By Creative Media Times

Marvel’s The Punisher – Netflix

Netflix drops gripping new trailer for its series ‘The Punisher,’ and with it comes the official release date which is November 17.

Starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, the crime-fighting vigilante taking revenge for the death of his family and then later uses violent and lethal ways in fighting the criminal underworld. The series is a spin-off of 2016’s Marvel’s Daredevil, also from Netflix where Bernthal’s also played the same character.

The trailer, set to a remix Metallica’s “One’ in the background, shows Frank Castle’s violent history coming back to haunt him including his military past in form of flashbacks. “What we were doing was wrong,” says Castle. Later we also see the CIA hunting him down.

When the character suits up as the Punisher, we see Castle in a collage of intense action scenes as he takes on the bad guys. There is a lot more focus on Castle’s vigilante persona than the overall brutality the character popularized in the comics.

Produced by Marvel Television and created by Steve Lightfoot, “The Punisher” has 13 episodes and also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls), Jason R Moore (A Lonely Place for Dying), Michael Nathanson (The Wolf of Wall Street), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Ben Barnes (Westworld, The Chronicles of Narnia), Amber Rose Revah (Emerald City) and Jaime Ray Newman (Bates Motel).

New ‘Justice League’ Poster Unveiled

By Creative Media Times

Warner Bros. Pictures

The poster continues DCEU’s shift to brighter and lighter look that started after director Joss Whedon’s involvement, and away from the darker tone and aesthetic that Zack Snyder started.

Superman is also conspicuously missing in the poster, which was released through the film’s Twitter account Wednesday morning. Though this has been the case since production started, Clark Kent did show up recently on Justice League’s latest trailer fueling speculation about the extent of man of steel’s involvement in the film.

Justice League is the second DCEU film this year, following this summer’s top grosser Wonder Woman. Scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017, the film also stars Henry Cavill Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.
