2023 Sundance Film Festival To Go Beyond FilmToday the nonprofit Sundance Institute announced the lineup for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival Beyond Film conversations, all of which are open to the public. Made up of three series called Power of Story, Cinema Café, and The Big Conversation,

Beyond Film rounds out the Festival experience, providing a place for the community to engage through artist conversations, filmmaker panels, and audience discourse.

Beyond Film will take place in-person from January 19–23, 2023, with the Beyond Film offerings becoming available to audiences across the country on the online Festival Platform starting January 24, 2023. The Festival also shared details about additional free conversations and events from Sundance Collab and our Festival partners available in person and online.

Beyond Film speakers will include talent from Festival films, such as Barry Jenkins (Producer, All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt), Dakota Johnson (Actress, Producer), Jonathan Majors (Magazine Dreams), Randall Park (Shortcomings), Ruth Reichl (Food and Country), and Adrian Tomine (Shortcomings), as well as compelling speakers including Dr. Orna Guralnik (clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst, Couples Therapy), Marlee Matlin (actor, CODA), and Lisa Taddeo (author, Ghost Lover).

Final Trailer for Plane Starring Gerard Butler and Mike ColterGerard Butler is back in an upcoming action-thriller film “Plane” from French director Jean-François Richet.

In the film, Butler plays a pilot who is faced with protecting his passengers in the aftermath of a crash landing on an island. “No need to worry, folks, these planes are pretty much indestructible,” Butler says as a plane race through its path in the air.

The movie is based on Charles Cumming’s book and also stars, Mike Colter, Yoson An, Daniella Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor, Claro de los Reyes, and Tony Goldwyn.

The film is set to be released by Lionsgate on January 13, 2023.

In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.

First Look for New Horror Film “M3GAN”

M3GAN“She’s more than just a toy. She’s part of the family”, says the synopsis for upcoming science fiction horror film “M3GAN”

It is produced by Jason Blum and James Wan under Blumhouse Productions, which produced the Halloween films, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man—comes a fresh new face in terror.

“M3GAN” is from screenplay by Akela Cooper and a story by Cooper and Wan, the filmmaker behind the Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring franchises.

Directed by Gerard Johnstone, “M3GAN” is set for release on January 6, 2023.

M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

M. Night Shyamalan’s “Knock at the Cabin” New Trailer Released

M Night Shyamalan Knock at the Cabin New TrailerAfter the recent box-office success of thrillers “Old” and “Split”, M. Night Shymalan returns in “Knock at the Cabin”, an upcoming apocalyptic psychological horror film set to be released by Universal Pictures.

A new trailer has recently been released, giving audiences another look at the twisty film about a family that has to make difficult choices in order to avert and survive an apocalypse.

The trailer also features actor Dave Bautista who seems to be the leader of a creepy cult-like group. Along with Bautista, the film also stars Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Rupert Grint.

The film is based on the 2018 novel “The Cabin at the End of the World” by Paul G. Tremblay.

“Knock at the Cabin” is set to be released in the United States on February 3, 2023.

Trailer For “Detective Knight: Independence” Released

Trailer For Detective Knight Independence ReleasedBruce Willis is set to reprise his role as the title character for “”Detective Knight: Independence”, and Lionsgate has released the film’s trailer, giving audiences a look at the upcoming third and final chapter of the action film.

“Detective Knight: Independence” is directed by Edward Drake, who’s also responsible for writing the screenplay and the story with Corey Large.

Also in the film are Jack Kilmer, Lochlyn Munro, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Willow Shields, Dina Meyer, and Timothy V. Murphy.

Lionsgate is set to premiere the film in select theaters, on demand and digital and later in a month, on January 20.

Netflix Reveals First Look At That 70s Show Spin-offNetflix is set to release a That ’70s Show spinoff series called “That ’90s Show” in January 19, 2023. The original Fox sitcom hit “That ’70s Show” ran from 1998-2006.

The show focuses on Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia Forman, and Kelso and Jackie’s son, Jay Kelso. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprises their roles as Red and Kitty, respectively.

In the spinoff, It’s 1995 and Leia Forman is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen.

With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate, his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki, the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie, and the charming Jay, Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Excited to reinvent herself, she convinces her parents to let her stay for the summer. 2022 Online Association of Female Film Critics Winners

OAFFC Everything Everywhere All at OnceThis week, the Online Association of Female Film Critics have announced their winners for this year’s best film. “Everything Everywhere All At Once” led the list with with 8, including Best Film, Best Director and three of the four acting awards.

The Online Association of Female Film Critics (OAFFC) is an independent organization consisting of female film journalists and critics from across the globe.

According to its website oaffc.com, The OAFFC “serves to uphold the integrity of online film criticism, foster the growing field of female film writers, celebrate and recognize outstanding achievement in cinema through our annual “Best of the Year” awards, and provide professional support for our members.”

“Avatar: The Way of Water” Original Score Released, With Music By Simon Franglen

Avatar The Way of Water Original Score Released Simon FranglenHollywood Records has announced the release of Avatar: The Way of Water (Original Score) on all streaming platforms (listen here.) Featuring music by GRAMMY® Award-winning composer Simon Franglen, the 32-track album includes 11 additional score cues from the film not available on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Franglen, who worked with composer James Horner on the original “Avatar” film, picked up where Horner left off following his tragic death in 2015, spending a large portion of the last three years composing the three-hour score to “Avatar: The Way of Water,” traveling to New Zealand to collaborate with James Cameron. Franglen was also responsible for the production and further composition of the music throughout “Pandora–The World of Avatar,” which opened at Walt Disney World in Florida in May 2017 and is working on the next “Avatar” sequel to be released in 2024.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron, “Avatar: The Way of Water” stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Rabisi and Kate Winslet. Trailer For Book Club The Next Chapter Released“Book Club: The Next Chapter” reunites Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. The film is a sequel to 2018 film “Book Club”.

The original centered on four older women who have all attended a weekly book club together for 40 years.

The highly anticipated sequel follows the four best friends as they take their book club to Italy for the fun girls trip they never had. When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure.

“The book says that we can’t reject our destiny,” Steenburgen’s character tells her friends while holding The Alchemist book in the trailer. “And I think we should all go to Italy.”

Written and directed by Bill Holderman, “Book Club: The Next Chapter” is set for release on May 12, 2023.
