Trailer For Netflix’s Upcoming Film “True Spirit” Released

A tenacious Australian teen chases her dreams, and faces her fears, as she sets out to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world.

That is the premise of Netflix’s autobiographical drama “True Spirit”.

In the film, an Australian teenager plans to become the youngest sailor to have travelled the world alone. In doing so, the intrepid 16-year-old not only seeks to fulfil her dream, she also faces her greatest fears at the same time.

The film stars Teagan Croft, Cliff Curtis, Anna Paquin, and Josh Lawson. The film is directed by Sarah Spillane from the screenplay of Sarah Spillane, Cathy Randall.

Netflix is set to release “True Spirit” on February 3, 2023.

First Look At “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret”

Lionsgate has revealed first look for the coming-of-age comedy-drama film “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret”.

Featuring Rachel McAdams, Abby Ryder Fortson, Benny Safdie, and Kathy Bates, the film is based on the 1970 novel of the same name by Judy Blume. It is written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen) and Gracie Films’ Academy Award®-winning producer James L. Brooks.

“Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” is set for theatrical release on April 28, 2023, by Lionsgate.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

At 11, Margaret is moving to a new town and beginning to contemplate everything about life, friendship, and adolescence. She relies on her mother (McAdams), who offers loving support but is herself finding her own footing in a new place, and her grandmother Sylvia (Bates), who is coming to terms with finding happiness in the next phase of her life. For all three, questions of identity, one’s place in the world, and what brings meaning to a life will draw them closer together than ever before.

New Trailer for “Shotgun Wedding” Released

Prime Video has just release a new official trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s new film, Shotgun Wedding. The film also stars recent Golden Globe winner Jennifer Coolidge and Josh Duhamel.

Directed by Jason Moore, the romantic action comedy also stars Sônia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, D’Arcy Carden, Callie Hernandez, Desmin Borges, Steve Coulter, Alberto Isaac, and Lenny Kravitz.

Coolidge is once again the scene stealer. She plays the mother of Josh Duhamel’s character Tom. “I’ve been looking forward to this moment ever since baby Tommy was cut out of my abdomen,” Coolidge’s Carol says, as wedding preparations get underway.

In the film, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) get their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the couple get cold feet. But suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage. The couple must work together to save their loved ones — if they don’t end up killing each other first.

Shotgun Wedding premieres on Prime Video on January 27, 2023.

“Unicorn Wars” Technicolor Feature Sets Release

GKIDS, the acclaimed producer and distributor of animation for adult and family audiences, announced today it will release “Unicorn Wars”, the latest genre-bending animated feature for adults from Goya and Annecy Cristal-winning director Alberto Vásquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children) starting March 10, 2023.

The technicolor feature will be released theatrically in select markets nationwide, and will also be available on demand from March 10, 2023.

The technicolor horror-comedy featured in competition at the 2022 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and was an official selection at BFI London, Animation is Film, and Fantastic Fest.

“Unicorn Wars” marks the next collaboration between GKIDS and Alberto Vázquez, following GKIDS’ local distribution of the Goya Award-winning feature Birdboy: The Forgotten Children and short film Decorado.

“The Unsettling” Trailer Debut And Release Date Announced

Dark Sky Films is set to bring the release of thriller film “The Unsettling” to theaters and VOD/digital on February 10th.

Written and directed by Harry Owens, the film stars Zephani Idoko, Bambadjan Bamba, Libby Munro, Benedikt Sebastian, Chloë Caro, Rojawn Khoshnam.

The film tells the story of Abena and Kwame, a Ghanaian couple, whho are struggling to recover from a devastating tragedy. They travel to Los Angeles for a vacation that they hope will help them find their way back to one another.

Instead, during an awkward dinner with estranged friends, Vivian and Anthony, Abena is increasingly terrorized by an evil possessing the house. The house that was meant to provide refuge slowly stalks her, consuming her sorrow and trapping her in a nightmare. As her terror grows, it ultimately engulfs all four with horrifying consequences.

Launching on January 15, MGM+ Expands Premium Lineup and Unveils Development Slate

Today, at the Television Critics Association’s 2023 Winter Press Tour, Michael Wright, head of MGM+ (formerly EPIX), unveiled a programming lineup and development slate that delivers premium cinematic television and a curated theatrical library, from one of the world’s most enduring entertainment brands.

The newly rebranded premium linear channel and streaming service will launch on January 15 in conjunction with the Season Three premiere of the critically acclaimed drama series Godfather of Harlem, starring and executive produced by Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker and created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein (Narcos).

“It’s a new beginning for our service, as we introduce MGM+ and its distinctive brand promise to viewers on January 15. BAFTA Film Awards Announce Longlists with “All Quiet on the Western Front”, “Banshees of Inisherin” and “Everything Everywhere” Leading

BAFTA Film Awards has released its first round of voting across all 24 categories, with “All Quiet on the Western Front”, “Banshees of Inisherin” and “Everything Everywhere” emerging as frontrunners.

“All Quiet on the Western Front” got the most showing, including Film Not In The English Language, Best Film, and Adapted Screenplay. Meanwhile, Martin McDonagh’s “Banshees of Inisherin” was on Best Film, Best Director, and Screenplay, and Colin Farrell for Leading Actor, and Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan, and Kerry Condon for Best Supporting Actor and Actress longlists.

BAFTA Film Committee Chair, Anna Higgs, said: “The publication of the EE BAFTA Film Awards Longlist is a very special moment to recognise the wide range of exceptional crafts, performances and productions that make the magic of films a reality. To be Longlisted is a fantastic achievement amidst the phenomenal films released in the last year. Sharing the list ahead of the Nominations will hopefully inspire the public to watch as many films as possible and join in the conversation as excitement builds for the Awards.”

The nominations for the EE BAFTA Film Awards will be announced on Thursday 19 January at 12 midday (GMT).

Creepy New Thriller “Disquiet”: New Trailer with Jonathan Rhys Meyers

After a near-fatal car accident, Sam (Meyers) wakes to discover he is trapped in an abandoned hospital by mysterious and sinister forces that have no intention of letting him leave.

That is the premise for the upcoming horror thriller “Disquiet” and Paramount has just released the creepy and disturbing new trailer for the film.

“Disquiet” is written and directed by Michael Winnick, and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers ( (Vikings, The Tudors) with co-stars Rachelle Goulding, Elyse Levesque, Lochlyn Munro, Garry Chalk, Trezzo Mahoro, Anita Brown, and Bradley Stryker.

“Disquiet” is set for released in digital, on demand, and in select theaters on February 10, 2023.

Tár received the best picture award from the National Society of Film Critics in its 57th annual awards, which voted on Saaturday, January 7. The film also took the most awards in total with 3. Cate Blanchett was awarded best actress for her titular role; Todd Field won for best screenplay.

Colin Farrell winning best actor for his performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and After Yang, while his Banshees’ co-star Kerry Condon was named best supporting actress. Ke Huy Quan received best supporting actor for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Charlotte Wells landed the best director prize for Aftersun.

Netflix has premiered the full trailer for the Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy-led comedy “You People”.

Kenya Barris’ feature film directorial debut is a modern love story set amidst clashing cultures and interfaith relationships.

Co-written by Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill and produced by the two alongside Kevin Misher, the comedy features an all-star ensemble cast including Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage and Mike Epps.

“You People” is set for release on January 27, 2023 by Netflix.
