Award-Winning Composer Joe Clark and Writer Kyle Higgins Explore Jazz and Americana in Graphic Novel Deep Cuts

deep-cutsImage Comics has released Deep Cuts, a sweeping, six-decade journey through jazz history and American culture from award-winning composer Joe Clark and bestselling writer Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black). The Eisner-nominated graphic novel explores ambition, heartbreak, and the rhythm of a changing nation through interconnected stories of musicians whose forgotten legacies shaped modern music.

From 1917 New Orleans to 1968 Los Angeles, Deep Cuts blends fiction and real musical history, drawing inspiration from legends like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and Nat “King” Cole. Clark’s background as a celebrated jazz composer lends the book authenticity, with real musical influences woven throughout.

Featuring art by Danilo Beyruth, Juni Ba, Ramón K. Pérez, Helena Masellis, Diego Greco, and others, the book is a visual and emotional ode to jazz’s enduring spirit. The paperback also includes original song lead sheets by Chicago jazz composers, connecting music and storytelling on the page.

Deep Cuts is available now from Image Comics in print and digital formats at comic shops, bookstores, and online retailers.

Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey Executive Produce Docuseries “Suspicious Minds” Exploring AI and Delusion

Suspicious-MindsWondermind and Agoric Media have unveiled the trailer for Suspicious Minds, a new docuseries examining the intersection of artificial intelligence and mental health. Created and directed by Sean King O’Grady (The Mill, Our American Family), the eight-part series launches worldwide October 17 across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Substack, and additional platforms.

Executive produced by Mandy Teefey and Selena Gomez, Suspicious Minds investigates how emerging technologies like chatbots and machine learning can act as catalysts for delusional thinking. Through firsthand accounts and expert commentary, the series highlights individuals who have developed AI-related psychoses and explores the thin line between perception, paranoia, and reality in the digital age.

The docuseries features psychiatrist Dr. Joel Gold and philosopher Ian Gold, PhD, who first identified the Truman Show Delusion, as well as AI researcher Nick Haber, ethicist Nate Sharadin, and Dr. Amy Levy of the American Psychoanalytic Association. O’Grady also appears on camera, guiding viewers through the growing psychological phenomenon.

Suspicious Minds is produced by Jonathon Glucksman, Molly Borman, Jesse Ford, David Tuohy, and O’Grady, with Teefey and Gomez executive producing under their Wondermind banner.

NAVA to Present Seth Green With Inaugural Voiceover Icon Award Dec 6th

seth-greenThe NAVA Foundation has announced Seth Green as their 2023 Voiceover Icon Award recipient.

Seth has had an extensive voiceover career starting when he was just a kid in 1987 on the TV show Comic Strip. From there he has voiced iconic characters including Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jeff “Joker” Moreau in the video Game Mass Effect, and Chris Griffin on Family Guy.

As the creator, writer, and producer of Robot Chicken, Seth has not only lent his voice to dozens of characters, but he has also created work and opportunities for voice actors.

Seth will receive his award on stage at the NAVA Foundation Benefit Gala on December 6th.

On the surface, “Queenmaker: The Making Of An It Girl” is a fun, nostalgic romp through the mid-2000s pop culture that dominated mainstream media and laid foundation for current reality TV and the influences of the social media generation.
