Liam Neeson Leads Police Squad in New ‘The Naked Gun’ Reboot – Trailer Drops

Paramount has released the first full trailer for The Naked Gun, a reboot of the classic slapstick comedy series. Directed by Akiva Schaffer (Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers), the film stars Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., taking over from his father, the iconic Frank Drebin (originally played by Leslie Nielsen).

Set for release on August 1, 2025, the film follows Drebin Jr. as he fumbles through a major case that could decide the fate of Police Squad. Joining Neeson are Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, Busta Rhymes, and CCH Pounder.

Written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, the reboot blends over-the-top gags and wordplay in the style of the original films and Police Squad! series. The trailer teases the same absurd humor fans of the franchise love, updated with a new cast and bigger stakes. Producers Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are backing the project.

After 15 years, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt returns with a new season set to stream on Prime Video starting July 9. Studio TRIGGER has unveiled a new key visual and full trailer, alongside the introduction of two new characters: Polyester and Polyurethane.

Originally aired in 2010, the cult hit is known for its bold animation style and irreverent tone. The upcoming series, titled New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT, will have its world premiere at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles on July 4 at the Peacock Theater, with creators Hiroyuki Imaishi, Hiromi Wakabayashi, and Shigeto Koyama attending.

Fans can expect even more outrageous energy and style in this long-awaited revival.

LAIKA’s ParaNorman Returns to Theaters in Remastered 3D with New Short Film

LAIKA’s stop-motion feature ParaNorman is returning to theaters this Halloween for a one-week limited engagement, presented in newly remastered RealD 3D and 2D formats. Originally released in 2012, the film will be accompanied by a brand-new CG short titled ParaNorman: The Thrifting, featuring voice work by Anna Kendrick and Finn Wolfhard.

International screenings begin October 23 via Trafalgar Releasing, with U.S. showings starting October 25 through Fathom Entertainment. The release follows the strong box office performance of Coraline’s 2024 reissue and kicks off a year-long celebration of LAIKA’s 20th anniversary.

Directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell, ParaNorman received multiple award nominations and remains a notable entry in LAIKA’s catalog. The new short is directed by Thibault LeClercq and produced with Passion Pictures.

The announcement was made at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Luis Ortega’s “Kill The Jockey”, Wild, Surreal Tragicomedy at Film Forum

Kill the Jockey, the latest film from Argentine director Luis Ortega, will make its U.S. theatrical premiere at Film Forum on Wednesday, July 2. The 2024 tragicomedy blends pathos, surrealism, and retro flair in a story of identity, reinvention, and personal collapse.

Set in the world of horse racing and underworld crime, the film follows Remo, a troubled jockey played by Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (BPM), who transforms—mysteriously and strikingly—into Dolores, a mink-draped woman with a new lease on life.

With a vibrant Latin pop and disco soundtrack and stylized visuals by cinematographer Timo Salminen, Kill the Jockey received critical acclaim at the Venice, Toronto, and San Sebastián film festivals. It was also Argentina’s submission for Best International Feature at the 97th Academy Awards.

A Music Box Films release, the film runs 96 minutes and will screen in Spanish with English subtitles.

The Salmon’s Call to Premiere on Knowledge Network

The Salmon’s Call, a new documentary by Dakelh filmmaker Joy Haskell, will premiere on Knowledge Network this June during Indigenous People’s History Month. It will stream online starting June 17 and air nationally on June 24 at 9:00 p.m. PT.

The film explores the deep connection between wild salmon and Indigenous communities in British Columbia. It follows a journey from the coast to Stuart Lake, sharing stories from elders, youth, and artists.

Apple Unveils Liquid Glass Design and On-Device AI at WWDC25

At WWDC25, Apple introduced Liquid Glass, a translucent, fluid interface launching across iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. Inspired by the spatial feel of visionOS, it dynamically responds to light, motion, and context—refracting backgrounds, reacting to content, and creating a more immersive, unified experience across all Apple devices.

The redesign extends to everything from lock screens and system menus to tab bars and sidebars, all while better aligning with the rounded edges of Apple’s latest hardware. A new yearly naming system also debuts, with all platforms now using the “26” suffix to reflect their 2025 release cycle.

Apple also announced real-time translation for Phone, FaceTime, and Messages, powered by on-device Apple Intelligence. Translations are spoken aloud and displayed as captions without sending data to the cloud. Developers can now integrate this functionality via a new translation API.

Other highlights include enhanced iPad multitasking with a new windowing system, customizable Mac desktops, a Workout Buddy app with voice coaching on Apple Watch, new Apple TV karaoke features, and shared spatial experiences in Vision Pro. Developer betas are available now, with public releases coming this fall.

“The Pickup” Trailer Teases Action-Comedy Heist Ahead of August Prime Video Release

Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Pickup, an action-comedy starring Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson, set to premiere August 6, 2025.

The film follows armored truck drivers Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson), whose routine cash run is derailed by a heist orchestrated by Zoe (Keke Palmer), a criminal mastermind with personal ties and a much bigger plan. Strike Back Studios will debut Laugh It Forward, a new stand-up comedy series, throughout June on Amazon, Apple, and other digital platforms. The series features celebrity hosts Rob Riggle, Jimmy O. Yang, Jay Pharoah, King Bach, and Lisa Ann Walter, each spotlighting rising talent in comedy.

Filmed at the iconic Viper Room on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, the show blends a speakeasy vibe with high-energy sets. Featured comedians include Vinny Fasline, Andrea Jin, Nicky Paris, Comedian CP, Nick Guerra, Erica Rhodes, and Sydney Castillo.

‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Trailer Debuts: Diego Luna and Jennifer Lopez Star in Bill Condon’s Dazzling Musical Drama

The first teaser trailer for Kiss of the Spider Woman, a musical drama directed by Bill Condon, has been released.

Set in 1983 Argentina, the film follows two prisoners — a political detainee (Diego Luna) and a gay window dresser (Tonatiuh) — who bond through retellings of a glamorous movie starring a fictional Old Hollywood star, played by Jennifer Lopez.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate, and LD Entertainment. Written and directed by Condon (Dreamgirls), the adaptation features original music by John Kander and Fred Ebb, with Lopez’s performance drawing early attention for its classic musical style and visual flair.

Kiss of the Spider Woman opens in theaters October 10, 2025.
