Netflix Sets October Premiere for Season 3 of The Diplomat

Netflix has announced that the third season of The Diplomat will premiere on October 16, 2025. The political thriller stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, a career diplomat whose professional responsibilities frequently collide with her personal life.

The new season picks up after the events of season two, which ended with the death of U.S. President William Rayburn and the sudden rise of Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) to the presidency. Wyler and her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) are among the few who know the circumstances surrounding Penn’s actions and their consequences, setting the stage for new tensions inside the White House. Bradley Whitford also joins the cast this season as Penn’s disgraced husband Todd.

Created by Debora Cahn, The Diplomat has been praised for its mix of espionage, political intrigue, and character-driven drama, with the first two seasons earning strong critical and audience reception. Season three continues to expand the show’s focus from international crises to the highest levels of U.S. politics.

Fans of classic horror will have a chance to see The Texas Chain Saw Massacre back on the big screen for a single night this summer. On August 18, 2025—52 years to the day the film’s events are set—Dark Sky Films and Fathom Events will present the original 1974 feature in 4K at theaters nationwide.

The screening arrives after a year of 50th anniversary celebrations and recognition of the film’s place in the National Film Registry. Long regarded as one of the most influential works in the genre, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre continues to draw both longtime fans and new audiences.

In addition to the restored feature, the event will include a sneak peek of Chain Reactions, a forthcoming documentary directed by Alexandre O. Philippe. Fantastic Fest 2025 will present the world premiere of The Cramps: A Period Piece, the debut feature from filmmaker Brooke H. Cellars. Produced under Warped Witch Cinema, the 89-minute film blends comedy, fantastical horror, and surrealist flourishes.

The story follows Agnes Applewhite (Lauren Kitchen), a young woman who takes a job as a shampoo girl at a bustling beauty salon against her family’s wishes. As she pursues independence and self-discovery, Agnes suffers from intense menstrual cramps that distort her perception of reality, creating a nightmarish collision of body and psyche for herself and those around her.

Described as a mix of John Waters’ irreverence, Mario Bava’s horror aesthetics, and the dreamlike style of Federico Fellini, the film stars Kitchen alongside Brooklyn Woods, Harlie Madison, Martini Bear, Wicken Taylor, and Michelle Malentina.

Cellars, who has directed eight short films since 2018, has built a reputation in the horror festival circuit. Her short The Chills won Best Screenplay at Houston Horror Fest in 2020, and her most recent work Violet Butterfield: Makeup Artist for the Dead screened at over 30 festivals worldwide, earning multiple jury and audience awards.

Film Forum Launches Screen Deco, Festival of 1920s and 1930s Art Deco Classics

Film Forum in New York will present Screen Deco, a festival showcasing more than 25 films from the 1920s and 1930s that exemplify the style later dubbed Art Deco. Running from September 8, 2025, through January 1, 2026, the series commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, which helped introduce the movement to the world.

Highlights include silent-era landmarks such as Our Dancing Daughters with Joan Crawford, A Woman of Affairs with Greta Garbo, Pandora’s Box with Louise Brooks, and the French production L’Inhumaine. Pre-Code features include Michael Curtiz’s Female, Edgar G. Ulmer’s The Black Cat with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, William Wyler’s Counsellor at Law with John Barrymore, Ernst Lubitsch’s Trouble in Paradise, and Busby Berkeley’s Footlight Parade. Musicals such as Top Hat with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers also feature in the lineup.

Lily James Stars as Bumble Founder in Tech Drama Swiped

20th Century Studios has released the first trailer for Swiped, a biographical drama inspired by the rise of Bumble and its founder Whitney Wolfe Herd. The film will debut September 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival before streaming September 19 on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

Lily James plays Wolfe Herd, who co-founded Tinder before leaving the company to launch her own dating platform. The story follows her early career in the male-dominated tech industry, her decision to create a women-first app, and her path to becoming the youngest female self-made billionaire. The film also depicts her pivotal role in Bumble’s 2021 public offering.

Raekwon and Mobb Deep Announce 30th Anniversary Co-Headlining Tour

Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon and Mobb Deep’s Havoc will team up this fall for a co-headlining tour marking the 30th anniversaries of their landmark albums Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… and The Infamous. The 19-city run, produced by Live Nation and presented by LOUD Live, begins November 13 in Portland, Oregon, and wraps December 15 in Miami Beach, Florida, with stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, and other major markets.

For the first time, the two hip-hop legends will share the stage for one seamless set, performing tracks from both albums along with career-spanning hits. Each night will also feature special guests and collaborative performances.

First Look at Couture, Starring Angelina Jolie, Ahead of TIFF World Premiere

The Toronto International Film Festival will host the world premiere of Couture, a drama set during the height of Paris Fashion Week and directed by Alice Winocour. The film stars Angelina Jolie, Ella Rumpf, Anyier Anei, and Louis Garrel, and is presented in the festival’s Special Presentations program.

Written and directed by Winocour, Couture follows three women whose lives intersect against the backdrop of the fashion world. Alex Winter’s Dark Comedy Adulthood Set for September Release

Paramount has released the trailer for Adulthood, a dark comedy thriller directed by Alex Winter and starring Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before opening in select theaters September 19, 2025, followed by a digital release on September 23.

The story follows siblings Megan (Scodelario) and Noah (Gad), who return to their childhood home after their mother is hospitalized. While cleaning out the basement, they uncover a long-buried corpse hidden in the walls. Their attempt to quietly dispose of the remains sets off a chain of escalating problems, including police involvement and blackmail from their mother’s caretaker (Billie Lourd), who claims to know the truth about the murder.

Intense Trailer for Orlando Bloom’s Gritty Boxing Drama “The Cut” Released

Republic Pictures has released the official trailer for The Cut, a gritty action drama opening in theaters September 5, 2025.

Starring Orlando Bloom, Caitríona Balfe, and John Turturro, the film follows a retired boxing champion who seizes one last chance at redemption after a career-ending defeat. To qualify for the fight, he must shed an extreme amount of weight in just six days.

Holed up in a Las Vegas room with Boz (Turturro), a notorious trainer known for brutal methods, the boxer embarks on an intense and illegal weight-cutting program. As the bout draws closer, his obsession begins to take over, pushing him to dangerous extremes and leaving his partner (Balfe) increasingly concerned for his safety. What begins as a fight for glory teeters into a spiral that could cost far more than the title.

Directed by Sean Ellis and written by Justin Bull, The Cut also features Eric D. Smith, Clare Dunne, Ed Kear, Oliver Trevena, Andonis Anthony, and Gemma Acosta. Guillem March’s Karmen to Be Released in Paperback by Image Comics

Image Comics will publish a trade paperback edition of Karmen this winter. The graphic novel by Batman and Catwoman artist Guillem March follows Catalina, a young woman who, after taking her own life, is guided on a surreal journey by an unconventional angel.

The story, first published in Belgium by Dupuis, was translated for U.S. readers in single issues and later collected in a hardcover edition in 2020. Combining elements of magical realism with themes of grief and redemption, Karmen is noted for its dreamlike artwork and introspective tone.

March’s work has been compared to other graphic novels such as Daytripper and I Kill Giants, as well as films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The paperback release follows the hardcover’s sell-out and continues Image Comics’ efforts to bring international titles to the U.S. market.
