By Armando

The cast and creator of The CW’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series “The 100” were at WonderCon on Sunday, where fans were treated with the premiere episode of season 6 at the Arena.

The screening was followed by a Q&A where the cast and crew offered some insight and tidbits about the season.

And while the panel was understandably mum on details, the upcoming new season really looks like a winner if we’re to go by how fun and thrilling the season opener is.

Among those in attendance were cast members Eliza Taylor, JR Bourne, Marie Avgeropoulos, Richard Harmon, Taysa Teles, Sachin Sahel and Shannon Kook as well as executive producer and show creator Jason Rothenberg.

The last episode in the previous season ended what amounts to “Book One.” The new episode exclusively screened during WonderCon essentially opens “Book Two”, which gave us an early look at their visit on the new planet and many more. Is it habitable? What obstacles will they be facing?

Instead of me spoiling the fun away, scroll down below and have a look at the extended trailer which CW dropped a few days ago in case you missed it.

“The 100” is officially set to return to The CW on Tuesday April 30 at 9pm.

Review: “I Am the Night” Delves Into The Black Dahlia Mystery

By Armando Inquig

TNT

Thanks to numerous stories, books, and a couple of films about the unsolved 1947 murder of aspiring actress Elizabeth Short, sensationalized by the media as the “Black Dahlia,” the decades-old gruesome murder continues to capture people’s imagination.

Patty Jenkins is the latest to revisit the mystery with “I Am the Night,” a six-episode limited series that premiered its pilot episode on TNT on Monday, with the subsequent episodes set to air on the following Mondays.

The series features a wide-eyed 16-year-old schoolgirl, Fauna Hodel (played by India Eisley), grappling with her mixed-race identity. Struggling with her relationship with her alcoholic adoptive mother, she decides to travel to Los Angeles in search of her elusive birth mother.

Chris Pine portrays Jay Singletary, a disgraced, drug-addicted journalist haunted by his past, at the brink of despair, whose life changes after an anonymous phone call.

The narrative took its time establishing Jay’s character and Fauna’s biracial background, depicting the rough racial and social relations of the 60s at school and in their neighborhood. However, when the two characters finally meet, the story propels forward, revolving around the captivating mysteries of the Black Dahlia murder.

Pine, the major draw of the show, always delivers an intense performance. When his character is dragged out of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and beaten, he reacts with a manic laughter. His natural talent and effective acting anchor the series throughout.

Credit to Jenkins for her solid and imaginative direction, which offers viewers a captivating glimpse of that era in Los Angeles. She returns to a medium that permits a deeper exploration of the narrative across multiple episodes.

Interestingly, Jenkins has previously transitioned to TV after helming a successful film. In 2004, she directed an episode of “Arrested Development” (“The One Where They Build a House”) during its second season, right after her award-winning film “Monster” established her in Hollywood.

The successful collaboration between Pine and Jenkins in the acclaimed superhero blockbuster “Wonder Woman” is evident here as well, showcasing their undeniable chemistry.

Jenkins directed the pilot and the second episodes, while Victoria Mahoney helmed the third and fourth. The series was penned by Jenkins’ husband, Sam Sheridan.

“The Boys” Teaser Trailer From Amazon Released

By Creative Media Times

Amazon Video

A new trailer for Amazon Video upcoming superhero tv series “The Boys” has hit the web and its the right combo of weird and awesome.

“Job one is supporting the seven brave heroes who put themselves in harm’s way each and every day for us,” someone says on the trailer, to which “Wee” Hughie Campbell (played by Jack Quaid) explicitly responded to.

Developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, “The Boys” is an adaptation of the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson which was originally published in 2006 by DC Comics imprint WildStorm and then later picked up by Dynamite Entertainment.

The trailer is violent and offbeat as one might expect from Ennis, who also serves as one of the executive producers.

There is plenty of talent involved in this, including Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell, Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie Usher as A-Train, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Karen Fukuhara as Female and Tomer Kapon as Frenchie.

“The Boys” is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2019.

See official synopsis below:

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes. THE BOYS is scheduled for a 2019 release.
