Radiohead Release Stunning ‘Daydreaming’ Video Ahead of New Album

by Daniel Kreps, Ryan Reed

Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video teases band’s new LP – out digitally on May 8th

Radiohead have released a haunting new single, “Daydreaming,” from their much anticipated – and as-yet-untitled – ninth studio album, which arrives digitally on May 8th and in all physical formats on June 17th. They also unveiled an elaborate, maze-like video directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.

The clip stars frontman Thom Yorke, who walks through a series of interconnected locations – an apartment, parking garage, hospital, house, laundromat, beach – and eventually climbs a snow-capped hill to an eerie cave. “Daydreaming” is the sonic inverse of the band’s recently released single “Burn the Witch,” using a glacial Jonny Greenwood score and ambient keys to anchor Yorke’s vocals. “Dreamers, they never learn,” he croons. “It’s too late / The damage is done.”

Winamp Media Player Shutting Down After 15 Years

By Angela Moscaritolo

After 15 years on the Internet, the once-ubiquitous digital audio player Winamp will soon be just a memory.

According to a brief note on the Winamp website, the formerly uber-popular media player will no longer be available for download after Dec. 20, 2013. This includes Winamp.com and associated Web services.

You probably remember Winamp from the late 90s and early 2000’s when it was one of the most widely used Internet services for listening to music and radio streams. Winamp eventually lost popularity as services like iTunes and Windows Media Player hit the Web, but it’ll always hold a special place in the hearts of many.

Eurovision: Denmark’s Emmelie De Forest Wins

By MALIN RISING

Denmark’s Emmelie de Forest has won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her ethno-inspired flute and drum tune Only Teardrops.

There was tough competition from spectacular stage shows by performers from Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

But Bonnie Tyler, who represented Great Britain with Believe In Me, finished 19th out of the 26 acts performing in Malmo, Sweden, with 23 points.

Ireland’s entry, the dance track Only Love Survives by Ryan Dolan, came in last place with just five points.

Speaking after the votes came in, Welsh singer Tyler, 61, who topped charts around the world in her heyday, said despite her final score the experience had been “fantastic”.

She said: “I got the feeling tonight that I got at the Grammy awards. I’m sure a lot of people will be disappointed on my behalf, but I have really enjoyed my Eurovision experience.

“I did the best that I could do with a great song. I don’t feel down and I’m ready to party.
