New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer: First Look at Kurt Russell’s Character

As Marvel continues to ramp up its summer movie promos, a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night, and we finally saw Kurt Russel’s character Ego, Star-Lord’s (Chris Pratt’s) father.

“After all these years, I’ve found you,” Ego the Living Planet tells Star-Lord (Pratt).
“And who the hell are you?” Peter Quill / Star-Lord.
“I’m your dad, Peter, ” Ego to Peter Quill.

Along with Star-Lord, the trailer gives us a better look of everyone in action including Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). Star Chris Pratt revealed the trailer on Kimmel’s show as part of a gag where an audience member plug whatever they want. Pratt stood up to introduce himself while Kimmel appeared to not recognize him and have never heard of the original movie.

Btw, James Gunn, the director of the movie, also tweeted a new poster.

Trailer: Terrence Malick’s Song to Song

Terrence Malick’s all-star ensemble drama Song to Song, set against the backdrop of the Austin music scene, has revealed its first trailer ahead of its SXSW debut.

According to it’s official synopsis, Song to Song is a “modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples – struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) – chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”

Though that might sound slightly familiar to a recent Gosling critical and commercial hit, production of Song to Song was actually announced in November 2011, was originally titled “Lawless”, and Malick began shooting in 2012.

Song to Song will have its world premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 10, before opening in NYC and Los Angeles on March 17, 2017. Broad Green Pictures is releasing the movie. Broad Green also released the poster for the film on Friday (right).

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Gets Extended Super Bowl Spot

Director Michael Bay’s fifth movie in the franchise, “Transformers: The Last Knight” has an extended trailer and it was unveiled during the Super Bowl, which adds more robot mayhem than the 30-second version Paramount released last Friday. ‘Fate of the Furious’ Super Bowl spot

The trailer for “The Fate of the Furious,” the eighth installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, dropped during Sunday’s football face-off, and its filled with fast (flyig) cars and high octane excitement.

At the center of this new trailer is Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) turning against his ‘Fast’ family, and introduces Charlize Theron as Cypher. The film also stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Ptaky, Scott Eastwood, and Kurt Russell. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) has taken over directing duties.

This is the first movie in the franchise since Paul Walker passed away in 2013, and apart from The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), is the only movie without him.

The Fate of the Furious will be released on April 14.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Super Bowl Spot

Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s latest film ‘Silence’

Between ‘Silence’ and the unexpected success of ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, it appears that Andrew Garfield is having a sensational year.

Based on Shusaku Endo’s 1966 novel about a Portuguese Jesuit priest persecuted in 17th century Japan, Silence is Martin Scorsese’s latest epic movie and it looks like another Oscar contender.

Considered “one of the twentieth century’s finest novels”, Endo’s original novel wrestles with themes of religious discrimination in Japan and racism in France. In 1971 the novel was adapted for the screen by Japanese director Masahiro Shinoda, and in 2007, Scorsese announced his intention to direct his own adaption, although its been reported that he really wanted to make ‘Silence’ long before that.

The trailer starts with lead Andrew Garfield’s Father Rodrigues and Adam Driver’s Father Garrpe conversing about a journey to find their mentor Father Ferreira, played by Liam Neeson. But this plan comes with Father Valignano’s (Ciarán Hinds) ominous warming: “The moment you set foot in that country, you step into high danger.” What follows is a collage of intense scenes of violence, religious imagery and executions.

‘Silence’ is primed for awards contention, as it opens in limited release on Dec.23, 2016, just in time for Oscar consideration, followed by expansion in early 2017. See ‘Silence’ trailer below:
