Gaiman and Buckingham complete their Miracleman saga this October

Miracleman By Gaiman and BuckinghamAfter thirty years, Gaiman and Buckingham complete their Miracleman saga this October in Miracleman By Gaiman & Buckingham: The Silver Age. Just in time for the 40th anniversary of Miracleman’s modern era, Marvel Comics has announced that Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham’s groundbreaking Miracleman: The Silver Age Saga will return this October.

The two visionary comic talents will complete their unfinished Miracleman storyline “The Silver Age,” including remastered editions of the first two published issues, complete with new artwork and bonus material. The series will follow the previously announced Miracleman By Gaiman & Buckingham: The Silver Age Book 1: The Golden Age TPB, the new collection containing Gaiman and Buckingham’s first Miracleman series. After 30 years, fans will finally see the full incredible story of Young Miracleman with more to come.

Here, Young Miracleman — the lost member of the Miracleman Family is back. His last memories were of a 1963 world of joy and innocence. Now, he’s been thrust into the 21st century, where his best friends have become gods and monsters. Where can a hero from a simpler time call home in this brave new world?

“We’re back! And after thirty years away it is both thrilling and terrifying,” Buckingham said. “Neil and I have had these stories in our heads since 1989 so it is amazing to finally be on the verge of sharing them with our readers.
“I have pushed myself to my limit to craft something special for these issues. Cinematic in approach, clean and elegant, drawing on the best of my own style but also paying homage to the exceptional talents of all who came before us, whose unique visions have shaped this ground-breaking series over forty years, and the 1950’s Marvelman foundations on which it was built.”

New Alien Comic Series With Xenomorphs To Launch In August

New Alien Comic Series With XenomorphsWriter Phillip Kennedy Johnson is set to continue his bold contributions to the world of ALIEN in an all-new comic series.

Featuring the incredible and terrifying artwork of rising star Julius Ohta, ALIEN #1 will kick off a new saga that will serve as a perfect entrypoint into the legendary horror/science-fiction franchise for newcomers and a must-read for longtime fans.

Packed with thrilling revelations and fresh insights into the ALIEN mythos, this new chapter promises to further explore the hard-hitting themes Johnson presented in the title’s first era as a new cast of characters must go deep into Xenomorph territory for a chance to combat human extinction. A small colony of synths have settled in secret on a backwater moon. When a company of United System soldiers come to them for help retrieving biotechnology on a hostile planet that could be the key to saving humanity, the synths must decide whether the prospect of peace between man and machine is worth the risk of betrayal.

“Writing season one of Marvel’s Alien was a horror fanboy’s dream come true,” Johnson said. “We got to tell exactly the story we wanted to tell, bringing horrific new species of Xenomorph to life while also exploring the themes of family and corporate distrust that are such a crucial part of the films. And as much as I loved our season one, we’re outdoing it in every way in the new series.”

“Julius Ohta is exceeding all expectations as series artist. Every background, every facial expression and emotion, and of course, all the environmental creepiness and full-on body horror is lovingly rendered by Julius, who is at the absolute TOP of his game right now. I can’t say enough great things about him. Fans are going to be truly spoiled. Stay tuned for one of the best, most beautiful Alien comics ever made.” For more info, visit marvel.com

Declan Shalvey Returns To Marvel Unlimited’s Anthology Series

declan shalvey returnsThe all-new four-issue arc of ‘X-Men Unlimited’ will deliver a new story in issues #22-#25

The fan-favorite Marvel Unlimited anthology series kicks off a new arc. On Monday, February 14, creator Declan Shalvey takes on both writing and art in X-MEN UNLIMITED #22, beginning a 4-part storyline set within current Krakoan continuity.

The comic follows the initial “Latitude” story done by Shalvey and Jonathan Hickman. Marvel Unlimited subscribers can catch #22 in the app now and continue the adventure with new chapters each Monday.

On creating the new X-MEN UNLIMITED arc, Shalvey says, “This new story follows directly from the initial ‘Latitude’ story I did with Jonathan Hickman a few months back where Wolverine hunted down an A.I.M. cell responsible for kidnapping mutants from The Peak station. In ‘Longitude,’ we catch up with Logan as he searches for the last missing mutant and he has recruited some fellow Krakoans to get to the bottom of this. Getting to take all the reins on an X-Men story like this is a rare opportunity that I really relished.” And on working in the vertical Infinity Comics format, he adds “From a writer/artist perspective, there’s a lot to play with in taking advantage of the format, and getting to just pick and choose characters from the wide X-Men cast was like being a kid all over again.”
