For 90 years the home of the most important events in cinema, the famed TCL Chinese Theatre Hollywood hosted one of the most important esports tournaments of 2018, the debut Arena of Valor World Cup on July 27 and 28.

“Arena of Valor” is the world’s top grossing video game, played in 100 countries, and it was the centerpiece for a first-of-its kind world class competition in Hollywood at the TCL Chinese Theatre’s IMAX theatre, lavishly converted over a week’s time into an Esports Arena.

Over 10 million people across the globe play “Arena of Valor” every day. It’s the world’s highest grossing game and most popular free app. Competitors at this past weekend’s TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX® event were chasing $550,000 in prize money and gamers the world over followed the competition’s live stream on Twitch.tv/ArenaofValor, YouTube.com/ArenaofValor, and Facebook.com/ArenaofValor. The Korean team won the competition’s World Cup Prize.

Gundam Live-Action Film In The Works

Get ready, Mobile Suit Gundam is about to get a live-action feature film treatment, as Legendary and Sunrise are teaming up for the production, Variety is reporting.

The collaboration to produce the first ever live-action film of the popular mecha anime was announced at Anime Expo 2018 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The multibillion-dollar Gundam franchise is massively successful, having grossed over $5 billion in retail sale, animated films, models and books among others.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam debuted in 1979 and was set in a fictional universe Universal Century wherein human space colonies wage war against earth for their independence. It is here where we saw mobile suites, a new type of humanoid weapons.

Recently, one of the more popular Gundam mecha made a special appearance in Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg’s science fiction adventure film which references various pop-culture characters. It was a crowd pleasing cameo which sees the character battle against Mechagodzilla and possibly aided the film’s box-office success.

The film’s plot has not yet been revealed, and no actors or director is currently attached.

Legendary has a new film set for release this month in the form of Skyscraper, Dwayne Johnson’s latest action-thriller.

Villains Are The Stars In “LEGO DC Super-Villains” Trailer

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Game have released a trailer for its new Lego game “LEGO DC Super-Villains,” which is set to release October 16 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One, confirming rumors that has been around for a few months now about the existence of the game.

Here, game players can create customizable super villain, who will be the main character to team-up with iconic super-villains Harley Quinn, The Joker, Poison Ivy and Lex Luthor among others in order to “foil the evil plans the incognito strangers have in store.”

As players progress in the game, players can upgrade the character with more powers and abilities to their custom villain.

Recently, Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have teased the game, after posting a tweet the says “chaos is coming.” It certain looks like action packed, hilarious and fun game to look forward to.

In Lego DC Super-Villains, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe, proclaiming themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’. Renowned DC Super-Villains from the ‘Legion Of Doom’ discover Earth’s newest heroes may not be the heroes they claim to be. With each player’s completely customizable Super-Villain character in command, this team of misfit lawbreakers must join forces to discover and foil the evil plans the incognito strangers have in store.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Returns November 7

Episode One of Telltale’s ‘Batman: The Enemy Within’ Now Available for Download on PS4


SAN RAFAEL, Calif., August 8, 2017 — Award-winning developer and publisher of digital entertainment Telltale Games, alongside DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, today premiered the inaugural episode of Batman: The Enemy Within, a new five-part game series that continues Telltale’s unique take on the Caped Crusader. Episode one, ‘The Enigma,’ is now available for download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The series will become available on Mac later this week, and will come to both iOS and Android-based devices in early October. It will also be available at retailers across North America and Europe this October on a special ‘Season Pass Disc’ for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The disc will include the first episode of the season, as well as download access to all subsequent episodes as they are released through an online connection.

Nintendo Reportedly Working On SNES Classic

The Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is apparently working on a miniature Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) classic version, aimed at followers of the iconic gaming company’s nostalgia. This according to Eurogame, citing multiple sources close to the company.

If it goes as reported, SNES Classic will follow the company’s other hugely popular gaming console NES Classic Mini. So there is no doubt this will be another mega hit and will be Nintendo fans’ main focus, especially considering NES Classic was understocked and just days ago been discontinued.

Development of SNES Classic is apparently “already underway” so we might see a launch of the product this year.

PlayStation VR Reviews: generally positive

As Sony prepares for the retail launch of PlayStation VR on October 13, joining the VR competition with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Google Daydream VR already in the mix, early reviews generally suggest positive opinion, with some expressing reservation that, although good, it just might be too early. That said, Sony is in a good spot within the VR competition, as there are 40 million PlayStation 4 owners. The headset is also competitively priced, with PlayStation VR almost half the price compared to most of its competitors.

Microsoft announces the next Xbox, Project Scorpio

Microsoft has announced the next Xbox console, Project Scorpio. The head of Xbox Phil Spencer said he believes it will be the most powerful console ever during its E3 2016 briefing.

The long-rumored Project Scorpio is an enhanced version of the Xbox One, capable of running 4K-native games, and will also support VR experiences. According to Xbox chief Phil Spencer, Microsoft views the new device as much more than a simple refresh.

Microsoft also announced the Xbox One S, a slimline version of the original Xbox One, 40% smaller than the nearly 3-year-old launch model, comes up to 2 TB internal hard disk drive, supports 4K video and HDR feature.
