“Untrapped: The Story Of Lil Baby,” has set its world premiere at 2022 Tribeca Festival.

The film, which follows the career of Atlanta rapper Lil Baby and his rise in rap and pop culture, is directed by Karam Gill and is set to be shown at Beacon Theatre at Broadway, NY.

Lil Baby’s story explores the new American Dream and is an emotional rollercoaster that speaks to the larger systemic issues plaguing our country.

Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby chronicles the life of the Grammy®-winning rapper, known to friends and family as Dominique Armani Jones, and his meteoric rise to the top of the hip hop world.

While still a teenager he became one of the most notorious figures in the streets of West Atlanta before he was arrested and sent to prison. After his release in 2016, he faced a hard choice: Return to the fast money of the streets or take a chance that his charisma and untested talent could bring him success as a rapper.

In 2020, his second album, My Turn, was the year’s top seller across all music genres. Today Lil Baby is a devoted father to his two young boys and a powerful voice in the fight for racial justice and police reform. IndustryWorks Studios To Bring “Bullet Proof” To Marche du Film in Cannes

As the Festival de Cannes celebrates its 75th anniversary, IndustryWorks Studios announced today that the studio will present the action-packed and relentless film Bullet Proof to the foreign market this year at the world-renowned Marche du Film in Cannes, France. Grindstone Entertainment Group, a Lionsgate company, will distribute the film in the U.S. and Canada this summer.

Bullet Proof stars tough guy Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) as the ruthless drug lord Temple.

The talented ensemble cast features breakout performances from Lina Lecompte (“Charmed,” and Monster High), Janvier Katabarwa (‘Deadpool 2, Cold Pursuit) as the deadly character The Frenchman, and a lead performance by James C. Clayton as a cantankerous criminal mind who finds himself with a big bag of money and surprisingly with extra deliverable goods.

In Bullet Proof, a thief who only looks out for number one pulls off the robbery of a lifetime when he robs the psychotic drug lord Temple. The plan goes off without a hitch until the thief discovers a stowaway in his getaway car: Temple’s wife, Mia. With Temple and his top hitman, the deadly and mysterious hitman The Frenchman, in hot pursuit, and torn between making a quick getaway or taking a risky detour to help Mia escape her husband’s abusive grasp, the thief finds the only way to get out alive is to drive.

L.A’s Dances With Films Celebrates 25 Years, Sets Lineup, “The Walk” To Open Festival

The most defiantly independent film festival, DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA), is celebrating 25 years of championing innovation, talent and creativity with a 2022 lineup that founders Leslee Scallon and Michael Trent declare is “the most dynamic and diverse we’ve ever seen.” The Los Angeles-based indie film event will take place at the TCL Chinese Theater from June 9-19.

The festival will kick off opening night with THE WALK, directed by Daniel Adams and starring Terrence Howard, Jeremy Piven, Malcolm McDowell and Justin Chatwin, a powerful story based on true events about Boston’s 1974 desegregation busing.

Additional titles include ASHGROVE, a pandemic era film starring Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale), THE LATIN FROM MANHATTAN, which follows the wild life of adult film icon Vanessa Del Rio, starring Shane West, Jesse Metcalfe, Taryn Manning, Esai Morales, Drea de Matteo and Dita Von Teese.

Audrey Diwan’s “Happening” Set To Open This Week

Golden Lion winner & BAFTA nominated film from writer/director Audrey Diwann, “Happening” is set to open in theaters on May 6, 2022, Friday.

Based on L’événement, the film was a winner of the Golden Lion at the 2021 Venice Film Festival. The film stars Anamaria Vartolomei, Kacey Mottet Klein, Luàna Bajrami, Louise Orry-Diquéro and Louise Chevillotte.

IFCFilms is also set to release the film in additional theaters nationwide on May 13, 2022, with openings in Alamo Drafthouse Downtown LA,
AMC Americana at Brand 18 and AMC Orange 30 among others, followed by a release on-demand on Jun 21, 2022.

Audrey Diwan was recently named one of Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch in 2022. Audrey Diwan is a filmmaker, author and screenwriter who has collaborated with Cédric Jimenez, Gilles Lellouche and Valérie Donzelli, among others. She made her feature film directing debut with Losing It, starring Celine Sallette and Pio Marmai. Her second film, Happening, won the Golden Lion in 2021 Venice Film Festival and will be released theatrically in the US by IFC Films in 2022.

Adapted from prize winning author Annie Ernaux’s semi-autobiographical novel, HAPPENING follows Anne (Anamaria Vartolomei), a bright young student with a promising future ahead of her in France during 1963. But when she falls pregnant, she sees the opportunity to finish her studies and escape the constraints of her social background disappearing. With her final exams fast approaching and her belly growing, Anne resolves to act, even if she has to confront shame and pain, even if she must risk prison to do so.

“Top Gun: Maverick” Wows Cinemacon

Sometimes, good things come to those who wait. After a couple of release delays, Paramount Pictures’ tentpole made a stop in Vegas, where fans at CinemaCon got their first view of the film and received soaring reviews, with some calling it the “best of the year.”

The film will also play out of competition at Cannes next month.

In Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise reprises his role as the cocky fighter-pilot character Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. This time around, Maverick also recruits to train a new class of aspiring aviators. Val Kilmer also returns as Maverick’s old nemesis, Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.

Oscar and Grammy winner Lady Gaga wrote an original song for the movie, titled “Hold My Hand,” set to be released May 3.

On the final day of CinemaCon 2022 on Thursday, Paramount Pictures also unveiled a thriller trailer for Mission: Impossible 7, and teaser Damien Chazelle’s highly-anticipated film Babylon.

Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 27, 2022.

Cannes 2022 Lineup: George Miller, David Cronenberg, Top Gun 2 and more

Cannes Film Festival is back in its usual spring slot, set to take place onMay 17 through 28. On Thursday, April 14, director Thierry Frémaux has now unveiled the main lineup for this 75th Edition.

The list includes David Cronenberg, Claire Denis, the Dardenne brothers and Kelly Reichardt. A David Bowie doc, a Jerry Lee Lewis film from the Coen Brothers’ Ethan Coen, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic are also on the list.

Frémaux also did confirm that the world premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick,” is scheduled to take place together with a tribute to its star and producer Tom Cruise. It is set to take place on the second day of the festival.

Tom Huang’s “Dealing with Dad” Cast Announced

Ally Maki, Hayden Szeto, and Peter s. Kim lead the cast in Tom Huang’s “Dealing With Dad”. Geena Davis’ Bentonville Way Entertainment is a producing partner on family dramedy written and directed by Huang.

Principal photography was recently completed for “DEALING WITH DAD,” a film written and directed by Tom Huang (“FIND ME”), with Geena Davis led Bentonville Film Festival arm, Bentonville Way Entertainment, on-board to help produce the feature.

“My Dead Dad” Sets World Premiere

Fabio Frey’s drama film has set its world premiere. Starring Pedro Correa, Raymond Cruz, Courtney Dietz, Simon Rex, Booboo Stewart, Chris Pontius, and Steven Bauer, the film is set its world premiere at 2021 Woodstock Film Festival on Friday, October 1, 2021, followed closely by premieres in California’s 2021 Mill Valley Film Festival on Saturday, October 9, 2021, and in Texas at the 2021 Austin Film Festival on Friday, October 22, 2021.

In this charming coming-of-age drama, young burnout Lucas (Pedro Correa) is notified that his estranged father has passed away. Relieved to never have to hear about him again, Lucas learns that his father left him the responsibility of managing an apartment complex in Los Angeles. Determined to sell off the complex without a second thought, Lucas meets the eclectic tenants, and soon discovers his father was a different man than the one he knew.

“Every step of the way, from pre-production to post, we were faced with logistical and financial roadblocks, yet I can say that the many big things that could have easily shut production down somehow always missed us, lucky break after lucky break.” says writer/director Fabio Frey. “At the end of the day, I’m proud of what we made with the amazing supporters who believed in us. Terror TV Announces Short Film Festival

TerrorTV.com – a premier channel for independent horror films – is accepting submissions for BRIEF ENCOUNTERS: The Terror TV Short Film Festival.

Expanding to include science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and noir to its foundation of horror films, Terror TV along with Acort International, a leading name in the distribution and presentation of independent horror films, takes this opportunity to connect with emerging short filmmakers with this festival. Soliciting films running from 5 to 30 minutes in length, the festival will review films until October 1. The winners will premiere on TerrorTV on Halloween. “Parasite” Wins Screen Actors Guild Awards, Makes History

Bong Joon-ho’s comedy thriller “Parasite” made history on Sunday night, becoming the first foreign language film to win Screen Actor Guild Awards’ Best Ensemble.

The film’s cast Song Kang-ho, Park So-dam, Choi Woo-shik, Lee Jung-eun and Lee Sun-kyun took the stage to accept the award. “Although the title is Parasite, I think the story is about coexistence and how we can all live together.” Song said via translator Sharon Choi. “But to be honored with the best ensemble award, it occurs to me maybe we haven’t created such a bad movie.”

Parasite’s surprise win puts the film in serious contention for Best Picture at next month’s Academy Awards, where the film is nominated for six categories including Best Director for Joon-ho. Earlier this month, the film won best foreign language film at the 2020 Golden Globes.

In the acting categories, “Joker” star Joaquin Phoenix won best actor, Renee Zellweger won best actress for “Judy,” Brad Pitt took supporting actor for “Once Upon a Hollywood”, and Laura Dern took home supporting actress for “Marriage Story.”

The 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were broadcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday in Los Angeles.
