New ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ trailer

The first trailer for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is here, and the god of Thunder is at it again, complete with helmets, chains and flames, minus Thor’s locks and powerful hammer. The new trailer shows Cate Blanchett’s Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death. There’s also a few shots of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.

After what transpired in Avengers: Age of Ultron, we see Thor imprisoned without his weapon. But its really at the end part where we see a familiar face, the Hulk in what seem like a gladiator-esque battle with Thor: “He’s a friend from work!”

Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger — the Incredible Hulk!

Directed by Taika Waititi, “Thor: Ragnarok” hits theaters Nov. 3 and also stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. Review: S-Town Podcast

Fans who have been longing for the return of the NPR podcast Serial now have something to ease their withdrawals. The new podcast S-Town debuted March 28 and is already creating a buzz.

S-Town is from the same producers as Serial and This American Life. While Serial tried to untangle a single, complicated mystery by releasing one episode each week, S-Town released all seven episodes at once. Many listeners immediately binged.

“S-Town” is short for Shittown, the nickname given to Bibb County, Alabama, by one of its residents, John B. McLemore. “John B.,” as everyone calls him is an eccentric genius who lives with his mother.

Zack Snyder Shares Henry Cavill Photo in Classic Superman Suit

Taken during the actor’s screen test for the Superman role, the photo is something of an urban legend: known to fans but none have actually seen it. Until last Thursday, when Man of Steel director Zack Snyder released a black and white photo of Henry Cavill wearing the classic Superman outfit.

Many might not know that Cavill actually auditioned for the role in Reeve’s outfit which had the classic red trunks on the outside. “First test with Henry,” Snyder said. “I knew right away he was my Superman.”

In a 2016 interview with DuJour, Snyder said, “We didn’t have the suit made when Henry was auditioning, so he wore the original Christopher Reeve suit. He put it on and when he came out of the trailer, everyone was like, ‘Dang, you’re Superman!””

Cavill first appeared as Superman in Man of Steel (2013), followed by last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He is expected to be back in Justice League this Nov. 17, though he’ remains hidden away from the movie’s trailers and promos. We’ll find out more in the next few months what Snyder and Cavill is up to.

Mission: Impossible 6 begins production

Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise are back shooting together, as director McQuarrie announces on twitter that production officially starts for Mission: Impossible 6, the new installment in the hugely successful film series. McQuarrie took the reigns in 2015 for “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” which was a critical and commercial success.

“Light the fuse,” McQuarrie posted on social media next to a clapboard from the seat early Saturday morning.

The film also stars returning characters of Rebecca Ferguson (Ilsa Faust) and Alec Baldwin (Alan Hunley) plus new members Vanessa Kirby (“Me Before You”) and Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”), though whatever roles the two will play have been kept under wraps.

As to how exactly McQuarrie is going to top the crazy stunts we saw in “Rogue Nation”, the director recently spoke with Empire and teased: “I may have found something today. I came to Tom with a picture of something and Tom looked at it and said, ‘That’s awesome! I want to fall off of that!’”

Mission: Impossible 6 is scheduled for July 27, 2018 release by Paramount Pictures.

Late Carrie Fisher will be in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’, Her Brother Confirms

Carrie Fisher passed away after her work on Star Wars: Episode XIII as Princess Leia. Now Fisher’s brother Todd Fisher, confirmed to NY Daily News that she will be in the last trilogy film as well, and without use of CG. According to the article, Todd and Billie Lourd, Carrie’s daughter, granted permission to use recent footage of the actress.

“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t,” Fisher said. “She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.

Lucasfilm confirmed early this year after Fisher’s passing that the studio will not wouldn’t recreate her digital version, a statement it confirmed on Star War’s official website. “We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.”

Fisher’s Leia will next be seen later this year in Star Wars: The Last Jedi which comes out Dec. 17. The still untitled “Episode IX” is slated for 2019.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2017: Tupac, Journey, Pearl Jam

It was a memorable night of great music and personal moments for the class of 2017 who were induced into annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame friday night. The ceremony was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Inductees include Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Tupac Shakur, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey and Yes, while producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers received a special award for musical excellence.

For the first time in more than ten years, the surviving members of Yes’ performed on stage. Also a special night for Journey fans, Steve Perry was back on stage along with Neal Schon and the rest of the band to accept their award. Kravitz also performed to honor Prince with an emotional performance of “When Doves Cry”.

David Letterman inducted Pearl Jam and praised the band for years of great music as well as their off stage work. “Human rights, environment, whether it was poverty, they didn’t let it wash over them, they would stand up and react,” he said. There is no doubt Letterman is a big Pearl Jam fan. He raved about the band’s “Hail, Hail” performance back in 1996, and since then came back six more times on the show.

For his part Vedder talked about a new generation of voices specifically Chance the Rapper. “That’s the kind of music activism that gives us all hope,” Vedder said.

Sean Combs is a rapper, producer, entrepreneur, singer and song writer. His first job was newspaper delivery when he was a young boy. He is a bright person who was very devoted to having a successful future. He attended Howard University and was working as a doorman to pay for collage. The five time Award winner has had many achievements such as producing his own TV show called Making The Band, developing a clothing line called Sean John which is very popular in the young communities, managing talent shows and hosting events.

Diddy is founder of Cîroc Vodka in which he personally came up with all the flavors and founded Bad Boy Records in 1993. Sources say the name (Bad Boy Records) was inspired by a 1975 movie called Mohogany. Diddy is considered one of the greatest rappers and record producers that is affiliated with many artists in the industry.

The successful entrepreneur launched a liquor called DeLeón Tequila and a TV network called Revolt TV.

5 ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Character Posters released

Today, Walt Disney Pictures has released gorgeous new posters from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, featuring fan-favorites as well as a new character. Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Javier Bardem perfectly captures that characters we see on the trailers while Brento Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario look like supermodels.

Kanye West’s Life of Pablo

Almost a year after the release of his eighth studio album, “The Life of Pablo”, Kanye West has purpose to celebrate. On Tuesday (April 4), Pablo reached platinum status, according to a statement from the Def Jam label rapper. A representative of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed the Billboard certification.

Although the label says that the project is the first streaming album to go platinum, Billboard reported that in April last year TLOP was briefly available for sale on Kanye west official website upon launch in February. TLOP – which entered into exclusive Tidal – got the number 1 on the Billboard 200, after 70 percent of the album’s debut earnings – 94,000 equivalent albums units – are due for streaming. (TLOP streamed over three billion times in the world). In addition, the Kanye West site sells digital downloads for $ 20.

Although it was difficult to know if the platinum status was part of the album’s sales in addition to streams, source says that the RIAA does not break down the components of certification. Platinum certification reflects million albums equivalent units, combining traditional album sales, sold album of songs and streaming audio and video on demand. Billboard contacted representatives of Kanye West for additional comments.
