By Creative Media Times

After a long wait since her introduction to the MCU franchise in Iron Man 2 (2010), Natasha Romanoff’s standalone movie is almost here, with Marvel Studios releasing the film’s first trailer today. Scarlett Johansson returns to play the character with Cate Shortland directing.

The thrilling new trailer is heavy on action and delves into Romanoff’s past. “Nothing lasts forever,” Black Widow, a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff says. “I’ve lived a lot of lives, but I’m done running from my past.”

Given what transpired in this year’s blockbuster juggernaut Avengers:Endgame, the film takes place during the period of time between “Captain America: Civil War” where the Avengers split in two teams battling each other, and last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.”

The footage also features Yelena (played by Florence Pugh), a character referred to as Romanoff’s sister-figure and also uses the name “Black Widow” in the comics. We also see the rest of her assassin family such as Russian super-soldier Red Guardian (David Harbour) and seasoned spy Melina (Rachel Weisz).

Billie Eilish is Billboard’s 2019 Woman of the Year

By Creative Media Times

Darkroom – Interscope

Just days after winning top honors at the American Music Awards, Billie Eilish is set to be awarded with Billboard’s 2019 ‘Woman of the Year.’

The 17 year old singer and songwriter is set to be awarded at Billboard’s Women in Music event on Dec. 12, making her the youngest recipient of the title.

“Billie has disrupted the entertainment industry through her music and social media platforms, leaving an indelible impact on the global cultural zeitgeist,” says Hannah Karp, Billboard’s Editorial Director. “Her ability to speak to the Gen-Z population, making teens and young adults feel accepted in today’s society has quickly allowed Eilish to grow to the top of the charts, breaking the mold for this generation with her electric hair-color and sharp attitude.”

Previous honorees include Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, who will receive Billboard’s inaugural Woman of the Decade honor.

Earlier this year, Eilish’s debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” debuted at No. 1 Billboard’s album chart. One of the singles in the album, “Bad Guy” reached number one on Billboard Hot 100, ending the record-breaking 19-week run of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.

Eilish is set to embark on a massive world tour in 2020.

Both “Birds of Prey” and “The Suicide Squad” Expected To Be R-Rated

By Creative Media Times

After the massive success of “Joker,” its probably not that surprising for WB/DC’s upcoming comic cook films to take the same path. As Variety reports, “Birds of Prey” and “The Suicide Squad” are expected to the be Rated R.

“In the case of Birds of Prey, the film won’t be in the pitch-black, grim vein of Joker,” says the article. “Insiders describe the film has a more humorous, spirited, girl gang adventure, albeit not one for younger children. A series of recent reshoots dramatically improved test screening results and the studio is confident Birds of Prey will be a hit when it opens in February.”

Although “Logan” and the “Deadpool” films were released with such restricted ratings, Hollywood superhero blockbusters have largely avoided it. During the past two months however, Joker proved to be a strong precedent for filmmakers to appeal to more adult audiences, earning over $1 billion worldwide and emerged as a strong contender for the upcoming awards season.

Birds of Prey, directed by Cathy Yan, is set for release on February 7, 2020, while The Suicide Squad sequel from James Gunn will be released on August 6, 2021.

“The Mandalorian” Now The Most Streamed Series

By Creative Media Times

Disney+

Just two weeks after its Disney+ debut, “The Mandalorian” has officially become the most in-demand television series in the U.S. across all streaming platforms, this according to Parrot Analytics, a company that measures television viewing demand.

The Mandalorian garnered over 00 million demand expressions during the week (from November 17 to November 23), ending Stranger Things‘ 21-week reign. The Netflix series had 81 million demand expressions, followed by DC Universe’s Titans, with 71.2 million.

“While demand is a metric that should not be confused with subscriber numbers, this is a strong indication that the ‘Star Wars’ series is driving a lot of sign-ups to the recently-debuted Disney+ service,” a Parrot Analytics representative said.

The Mandalorian is also garnering great reviews, currently receiving a 90% rating on RottenTomatoes, and a 95% audience rating.

Demand for the show should intensify further with the release on December 20 of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
