Game of Thrones not only led the 2019 Emmy nominations, it also set a record in the process. The HBO fantasy drama received 32 nominations, the most in a single year and breaking the record set by NYPD’s 26 noms back in 1994.Also doing great were Amazon’s comedy “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with 20 nominations, HBO’s “Chernobyl” with 19, and NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” with 18 nods.
Overall, HBO led the network race with a total of 137 nods, followed by streaming giant Netflix with 117.
The nominations were announced by D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) and Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians) on Tuesday morning. The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards is set to be presented on FOX on Sunday, September 22. The show’s host has not yet been announced.
