In her breakout role for television, British actress Esme Creed-Miles stars as Hanna alongside Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon, Suicide Squad, Robocop) and Mireille Enos (The Catch, Prime Video’s Good Omens), who reunite on-screen after co-starring in AMC’s Emmy-nominated crime drama The Killing.

Here’s the official synopsis for Hanna:
Raised in total seclusion in the remote woods of Eastern Europe, Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) has spent her entire young life training to fight those who hunt her and her mercenary father, Erik Heller (Joel Kinnaman). Her survivalist skills are finally tested when she and Erik are separated upon their discovery by a rogue CIA operative, Marissa Wiegler (Mireille Enos) and her team of agents. Hanna has no choice but to embark on a perilous journey alone across Europe as she seeks to reunite with her father and evade – and ultimately take down – the dangerous agents who target them. Hanna’s isolated upbringing offers particularly daunting physical and emotional challenges as she is forced to navigate an ever-deepening conspiracy – one that could be the undoing of both her and her father.

Destin Daniel Cretton has been tapped by Disney to direct Shang-Chi, Marvel‘s first film with an Asian protagonist.

The talented writer/director is best known for the critically acclaimed 2013 independent drama about a group home for teenagers “Short Term 12,” which earned multiple accolades including three Independent Spirit Award nominations.

Coincidentally, that film was the first lead feature film of actress Brie Larson, who herself is flying high this week as the titular superhero in another Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain Marvel.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Dave Callaham is writing the script for “Shang-Chi”. Callaham recently wrote the screenplay for “Wonder Woman” sequel “Wonder Woman 1984”, set for release summer of next year.

Created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin, “Shang-Chi” was first published by Marvel Comics in 1973 in Special Marvel Edition #15 and is often called the “Master of Kung Fu.”

In the comics, the character is raised by his father, genius supervillain Fu Manchu. Shang-Chi is trained in martial arts and developed super-human skills. He later found out about his father’s true evil nature and the two became enemies. Decades later during the Marvel NOW! relaunch, he was recruited by Captain America and Iron Man to join Avengers.

Cretton recently directed the upcoming biographical drama “Just Mercy,” which stars Michael B. Jordan and reunites the director with Larson.

He will be joining Jared Leto (Suicide Squad, Blade Runner 2049), who is set to play the title role. Also expected to be in the film are Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, and Jared Harris. Recently Jared Leto shared on instagram that filming has already begun.

Just like last year’s “Venom,” “Morbius” is a Spider-Man spinoff. Daniel Espinosa of Safe House is attached to direct with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless set to write the script. The character first appeared in 1971 in The Amazing Spider-Man #101.”
