Dan Torrance Returns To Overlook Hotel In Creepy Final Trailer To “Doctor Sleep”

By Creative Media Times

On the same week that Warner Bros. Pictures’ “IT: Chapter 2” is dominating the boxoffice comes the release of the final trailer to the studio’s upcoming horror film “Doctor Sleep”.

“Doctor Sleep” is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 novel of the same name, a sequel to King’s 1977 novel The Shining.

The film follows Danny (played by Ewan McGregor) now an adult and an alcoholic, battling the childhood trauma that he experienced with his family in the Overlook Hotel, the main setting of The Shining’s film adaptation from Stanley Kubrick.

The trailer is heavy on nostalgia and references, featuring some iconic characters and images from the original Kubrick film, such as the Overlook Hotel, the Grady twins, young Danny riding his bike through the haunted hallways of the hotel, the elevator gushing blood, and room 237 giving viewers a peek of what may be inside.

We also see a new character named Abra, a teenage girl who has her own powerful extrasensory gift. “I don’t know about magic. I’ve always called it the shining,” McGregor’s Danny tells Abra when the two meet in person for the first time.

There’s a couple of characters from 1980 original that are returning in the sequel: Dick Hallorann, the former cook from the Overlook Hotel and Danny’s mother Wendy, this time played by Carl Lumbly and Alex Essoe respectively.

The film is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who directed the highly underrated Oculus from 2013, the hit Netflix series “The Haunting of the Hill House” as well as King’s “Gerald’s Game” for Netflix.

The film co-stars Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Bruce Greenwood (Gerald’s Game), and child actress Kyliegh Curran. “Doctor Sleep” is set to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on November 8, 2019.

Chilling “Joker” Final Trailer Released

By Creative Media Times

WB

The final trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker has just arrived, ahead of the highly-anticipated film’s premiere at the 76th Venice International Film Festival later this weekend.

The trailer is dark and bleak, showing the character’s slow descent into madness. Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) lives a lonely life and tends to his ailing mother. He just wants to make people laugh as a stand-up comedian, but he can’t seem to catch a break. “Can you please stop bothering my kid?,” says the mother of a child he was trying to entertain.

We also see late night variety show host Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) mocking him. But he may have something in store for everyone. When Fleck appears on his show he said: “Can you introduce me as Joker?”, widely smiling and wearing a clown makeup as he heads onstage.

Joker is one of the most iconic in comicbook history, has been played by numerous celebrated actors on the big screen, from Jack Nicholson in Batman (1989), Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight (2008), and most recently Jared Leto in the supervillain ensemble Suicide Squad (2016).

Director Todd Phillips is best known for writing and directing The Hangover Trilogy and Borat, for which he was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

Also in the film are Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge and Josh Pais.

Joker is set to invade theaters on October 4, 2019.

Original Motion Picture Score for “Blade” By Mark Isham Released From Varèse Sarabande

The Original Motion Picture Score for Blade by award winning composer Mark Isham will be released for the first time on vinyl on October 4th and is now available for pre-order on VareseSarabande.com and other retailers.

The LP’s jacket, inner sleeve and labels thematically reference the infamous warehouse rave scene of the vampire thriller from 1998.

“The score needed to have an epic super-hero quality but with a very dark side, and it needed to be able to live next to the world of 1990’s electronica – The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin etc.

We used a large symphony orchestra supplemented with electronic synthesizers and samplers for a unique musical vocabulary. I did a lot of sampling of weird and strange sounds as well as programming my synth collection. We recorded at the Fox stage which is a wonderful room. The process went smoothly as I had worked tirelessly with Steve Norrington, the director, during the demo process to get what we both wanted.

We recorded some sections of the score in smaller segments – to be edited together later – as a lot of the visual effects hadn’t been completed yet. I think my two favorite musical moments are The Death Of Whistler – which is very emotional scene, a bit unexpected in a film of this genre – and the culmination of the Ritual For Summoning La Magra. This is big and bombastic and just plain FUN!” – Mark Isham, composer.

The movie starring Wesley Snipes in one of his signature roles was a commercial success that spawned two sequels, and the films have enjoyed cult status for many years. At this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Marvel Studios got movie-goers amped by announcing a Blade reboot in 2020, with none other than accomplished actor Mahershala Ali to star, who took home Oscars for both Moonlight and Greenbook.
