Emily Ting’s “Go Back To China” Sets Release Date

By Creative Media Times

Red Arrow Studios

Red Arrow Studios company has announced the acquisition of worldwide rights to filmmaker Emily Ting’s second directorial feature Go Back to China, which made its world premiere in competition at SXSW Film Festival earlier this year.

The film will make a limited theatrical bow in select cities March 6, 2020 and simultaneous with a wide cross-platform cable/satellite/telco and internet VOD release on the same day.

“I had an amazing time partnering up with Gravitas on my first film Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, and I am ecstatic to be working with them again to bring this extremely personal film to audiences worldwide,” says Filmmaker Emily Ting.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Emily again on her charming and hilarious fish out of water comedy, and look forward to presenting it to audiences worldwide,” said Tony Piantedosi, Vice President of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.

Veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng, Lynn Chen, and Kelly Hu co-star in the film produced by Ting, Sophia Shek, and Frederick Thornton. Lowell Shapiro and Mike Dill serve as Executive Producers.

The distribution deal for Go Back to China was negotiated by Tony Piantedosi, Vice President of Acquisitions at Gravitas, and Eric Sloss of Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmakers.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

The semi-autobiographical film follows Sasha Li, a spoiled rich girl (played by YouTube star Anna Akana) who after blowing through most of her trust fund, is forced by her father to go back to China and work for the family toy business. What begins simply as a way to regain financial support soon develops into a life altering journey of self discovery, as she learns the business from the ground up and reconnects with her estranged family in the process. Hilarious and heartfelt, the film offers an honest look at the human cost of things that are made in China.

“Swallow” Starring Haley Bennett Sets March Release Date

By Creative Media Times

IFC Films

Written and directed by Carlo Mirabella-Davis, the film was an official selection at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival where it won Best Actress in a U.S. Narrative Feature Film

Starring Haley Bennett, Sautin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche and Denis O’Hare, the film is set for release on March 6, 2020 in select theaters and on demand.

Here’s more about the film:

On the surface, Hunter (Haley Bennett) appears to have it all. A newly pregnant housewife, she seems content to spend her time tending to an immaculate home and doting on her Ken-doll husband, Richie (Austin Stowell). However, as the pressure to meet her controlling in-laws and husband’s rigid expectations mounts, cracks begin to appear in her carefully created facade. Hunter develops a dangerous habit, and a dark secret from her past seeps out in the form of a disorder called pica – a condition that has her compulsively swallowing inedible, and oftentimes life-threatening, objects. A provocative and squirm-inducing psychological thriller, SWALLOW follows one woman’s unraveling as she struggles to reclaim independence in the face of an oppressive system by whatever means possible.

Gal Gadot and Chris Pine Returns In First Trailer For ‘Wonder Woman 1984’

By Creative Media Times

Warner Bros. has unveiled the very first trailer for “Wonder Woman 1984,” sequel to the hugely successful 2017’s film “Wonder Woman.”

Wonder Woman travels to the 80s, as the title suggests, decades away from the World War I setting of the 2017 original and shows Diana Prince reuniting with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor.

Not a lot of details has been released so far but here’s what Warner Bros has to say about the film so far: “Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah.”

The new trailer gives us a first look at Kristen Wiig’s an archaeologist turned villainous Cheetah as well as tycoon Maxwell Lord played by Pedro Pascal.

Also released as series of character posters that offer our best looks yet at some of the movie’s core characters, including Kristen Wiig as Barbara Anne Minerva, The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as Max Lord and the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. (see below).

Director Patty Jenkins also returns to helm. Wonder Woman 1984 is set for release in theaters June 5, 2020.

First “Black Widow” Trailer Features The Character’s Long Awaited Solo Movie

By Creative Media Times

After a long wait since her introduction to the MCU franchise in Iron Man 2 (2010), Natasha Romanoff’s standalone movie is almost here, with Marvel Studios releasing the film’s first trailer today. Scarlett Johansson returns to play the character with Cate Shortland directing.

The thrilling new trailer is heavy on action and delves into Romanoff’s past. “Nothing lasts forever,” Black Widow, a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff says. “I’ve lived a lot of lives, but I’m done running from my past.”

Given what transpired in this year’s blockbuster juggernaut Avengers:Endgame, the film takes place during the period of time between “Captain America: Civil War” where the Avengers split in two teams battling each other, and last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.”

The footage also features Yelena (played by Florence Pugh), a character referred to as Romanoff’s sister-figure and also uses the name “Black Widow” in the comics. We also see the rest of her assassin family such as Russian super-soldier Red Guardian (David Harbour) and seasoned spy Melina (Rachel Weisz).

Black Widow is set for release in theaters on May 1, 2020.
