Jennifer Garner Returns To Action Genre In “Peppermint” Trailer

By Creative MediaTimes

STXfilms

Jennifer Garner is a mom turned ass-kicking vigilante in the debut trailer for action thriller “Peppermint” from STXfilms.

“Corrupt judges. Dirty cops. What do I want? I want justice,” says Garner’s character Riley North in the trailer.

“Peppermint” looks like the long-overdue return to form for Garner, who played CIA officer Sydney Bristow in the ABC action thriller Alias, which was created by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J. J. Abrams. Alias successfully aired from 2001 to 2006 and turned Garner into a star.

Garner looks in full action-mode here, and could easily give Liam Neeson a run for his money. Speaking of, “Peppermint” is directed by Pierre Morel, who helmed “Taken” which turned Neeson into a bona fire action star.

Also in the film are John Gallagher, John Ortiz, and Method Man. STX and Lakeshore Entertainment is set to release Peppermint on Sept. 7.

Here is the film’s official synopsis for:

“PEPPERMINT is an action thriller which tells the story of young mother Riley North (Garner) who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI- as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.”

Hunnam and Malek Attempts To Escape Devil’s Island In First “Papillon” Trailer

By Creative Media Times

Bleecker Street

“The greatest escape adventure ever told,” it says on the poster of “Papillon” as Bleecker Street releases its first trailer.

The film is based on Henri Charrière autobiographies Papillon and Banco, as well as the 1973 film adaptation of the former which starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

Charrière was convicted as a murderer by the French courts in 1931, sentenced to life in prison and ten years of hard labour, and in 1941 escaped from a penal colony in French Guiana with the help of another convict.

Charlie Hunnam is Charrière aka Papillon, a nickname derive from a butterfly tattoo inscribed on his chest, while Rami Malek is Louis Dega, the man he forms an unlikely alliance with in order to escape.

“If I ever get out, I’m going to live a different kind of life,” Papillon says in the trailer.

The book “Papillon” published in 1969, was an immediate success upon its release, becoming a worldwide bestseller and garnering critical acclaim.

Directed by Michael Noer (Northwest) and penned by Aaron Guzikoswski (Prisoners), “Papillon” premiered last September at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is currently set to hit theaters August 24.

“Mowgli” Trailer Shows Grittier Take On The Jungle Book

By Creative Media Times

Warner Bros. Pictures

“Witness the darkest retelling of the beloved masterpiece,” the tagline appears on the trailer.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Andy Serkis’ upcoming live-action adventure fantasy film “Mowgli,” and it looks spectacular.

An adaptation of Ruyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, the film follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand) who was raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India.

Rohan Chand is the titular character while Serkis plays Baloo. They are joined by Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Matthew Rhys as John Lockwood, and Benedict Cumberbatch who plays fearsome tiger Shere Khan, the main antagonist in the book.

Based on the trailer, it certainly looks like a darker and serious version when compared to the Disney adaptation released in 2016, just as Serkis originally stated in his interview with Vulture two years ago. The film was rated PG-13 by MPAA earlier this year.

Directed by Andy Serkis from the screenplay by Callie Kloves, “Mowgli” hits theaters on October 19, 2018.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

“The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.”

Cruise and Cavill Brawl In Latest Trailer For “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”

By Creative Media Times

“What’s done is done when we say it’s done,” says Ethan Hunt in the latest trailer for “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”.

Paramount Pictures

Cruise himself posted the trailer on his Twitter account, and its packed full of daredevil stunts, thrilling practical effects and impressive set pieces that we have come to expect from Cruise and the highly successful franchise.

We also get to see more of Cruise’s Hunt in fights with mustached Cavill as brutal assassin August Walker. It is an interesting dynamics, where Cruise is on the run once again while Cavill keeps him on his toes and has shoot to kill orders if Hunt goes rogue.

Some might remember that Cruise broke his ankle during filming after a dangerous stunt gone awry where the actor leaped from one building to another. The injury shut down the film’s production for more than two months to allow the actor’s injury to heal. Its right here on the trailer, and certainly makes the footage more intense.

The Mission: Impossible film franchise is one of the most successful of all-time, with a worldwide gross of over $2.7 billion to date. Judging by these new promotional materials, the film seem set to deliver some more crazy action this summer.

Franchise regulars Michelle Monaghan, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames are back as well as Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin who were standouts in 2015’s Rogue Nation. Vanessa Kirby is a new addition, as well Angela Bassett who plays a CIA official.

Directed by frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, who previously helmed Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is scheduled for release on July 27, 2018.

Rami Malek Is Freddie Mercury In First “Bohemian Rhapsody” Film Trailer

By Creative Media Times

20th Century Fox

Rami Malek of “Mr. Robot” fame transforms into Freddy Mercury in upcoming Queen biopic, set for release this fall. After the film’s rocky production, the film’s trailer is finally here. The film’s trailer recently screened at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last month.

The trailer’s intro capitalizes on Queen’s iconic songs, including a mashup of “Another One Bites The Dust” and “Killer Queen,” which then led to the film’s titular song.

“This is when the operatic section comes,” Malek as Mercury said at the studio during a recording session of the ground-breaking song.

It closed with “We Will Rock You” playing in the background along with the band’s legendary performance at Live Aid in 1985, six years before the British singer died.

The film co-stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Lucy Boynton (last year’s Murder on the Orient Express) among others. Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything) wrote the script.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is scheduled to be released in the United States by 20th Century Fox on November 2, 2018.

New “Incredibles 2” Baby Jack-Jack

By Creative Media Times

Walt Disney Studios

If this latest trailer is any indication, it looks like Jack-Jack is about to steal the show as Pixar/Disney has just released the latest TV spot for the “Incredibles 2”.

And just in time for Mother’s Day, we also get to see the superhero clan’s matriarch, Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), now apparently a spokesperson for superheroes, front and center. “So things haven’t spiraled out of control the moment I left?,” she says over the phone after her busy day of fighting crime and campaigning for the return of “supers.”

The latest trailer is definitely more action packed than what we have seen so far as Disney enters the stretch of the film’s promos leading to its release in a month.

The original film grossed $633 million worldwide in 2004 and received the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature. The Incredibles also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Disney-Pixar originally slated the film to 2019 but later switched release dates with “Toy Story 4.” “Incredibles 2” will hit cinemas on June 15, 2018.

“13 Reasons Why” Season 2 Trailer Drops

By Creative Media Times

Netflix

Netflix has released an intense new trailer for Season 2 of “13 Reasons Why,” revealing more stories to tell after season 1’s controversial ending. “I just felt like this whole thing was gonna be over. But it’s not,” says Dylan Minnette’s character Clay Jensen.

Season one was told in the same sequence that Hannah made the tapes. The series lead Dylan Minnette is Clay Jensen, a close friend of Hannah who listens to the tapes and narrates what happened to her.

Based on the trailer, Season two will deal more about the aftermath of her death, most likely connecting a few loose ends suggested in last year’s finale episode. The show was also a hit for Netflix and received a few accolades, which somewhat guaranteed the follow-up series.
