One of the most enduring american horror stories is going back to its roots, as Skyline Films releases the trailer for “The Amityville Murders.”

The film is based on the story of Ronald DeFeo, Jr., who on the night of November 13, 1974, took a rifle and murdered his entire family in their sleep. In real life, DeFeo was convicted of the murders though he had claimed to have heard voices that plotted against him which eventually led him to carry out the murders.

The trailer seem to follow this story-line as well as some paranormal activity in the house that has been part of the story including “The Amityville Horror,” a book by Jay Anson which was published in 1977.

The upcoming film is directed by Daniel Farrands, who has another horror thriller coming up on the horizon called “The Haunting of Sharon Tate”, one of the few upcoming films based around the tragic story of Sharon Tate and cult leader Charles Manson.

“The Amityville Murders,” which stars John Robinson, Diane Franklin, Chelsea Ricketts, and Paul Ben-Victor is set to have simultaneous theatrical, VOD and Digital HD releases on Feb. 8, 2019.
