Chip Zdarsky and Pasqual Ferry bring you a tale of Peter Parker on the edge in SPIDER-MAN: SPIDER’S SHADOW
This April, writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Pasqual Ferry team up for a Spider-Man story like none other in SPIDER-MAN: SPIDER’S SHADOW. The critically acclaimed writer, currently wowing readers with his Eisner-nominated work on Daredevil, has crafted a thrilling saga that will explore Peter Parker’s dark side. Superstar artist Pasqual Ferry (The Mighty Thor) and colorist Matt Hollingsworth (Hawkeye) join him to bring to life one of the most ruthless Spider-Man stories Marvel Comics has ever told.
Peter Parker once put on an alien suit that nearly destroyed his life – but what if he’d never taken it off? Ignoring every warning, Spidey embraces the dark symbiote! Haunted by terrible nightmares and exhausted by an endless barrage of bad guys, Peter can’t seem to catch a break these days. So when the Hobgoblin attacks, he finds a hero at the end of his rope…and vulnerable to new dark impulses. Spider-Man is about to change his rules – but is it truly Peter who is in charge?
“I’m thrilled to be kicking off a new era of “WHAT IF” stories with this tale of a Spider-Man gone bad! How bad will he be? Will he have a goatee and no hyphen in his name? Pick up issue one to find out! But seriously, I feel that with SPIDER’S SHADOW we’re exploring some dark situations with Spidey and the Marvel Universe, while making it cool and fun to read. I think longtime fans will love it and new readers will be amazed at what Marvel lets us do,” Zdarsky teased. “Pasqual and Matt are producing amazing work on this book. When every page comes in, I share them with all of my friends even though Marvel says I’m not allowed to do that.”
“Since I started working at Marvel some long years ago, I always dreamed of drawing Spiderman, I came close a couple of times to get it, but the God of Thunder and Iron Man got in the way at the last moment— which were quite a joy too. So when I was offered the opportunity to draw this miniseries, you can imagine my happiness. In addition, I always wanted to experiment with the black suit from Secret Wars so the icing on the cake was doing that in the form of a “What If” series set at the beginning of that journey,” Ferry said. “Chip’s script is really shocking and surprising, a delight for someone fan of the character like me, and I’m sure it will catch the readers as much as it is drawing it with me. Hold on to the seats, because SPIDER’S SHADOW is going to surprise you in a way that you cannot imagine!”
The previously announced action-packed series written by Joe Kelly and drawn by artist Chris Bachalo, NON-STOP SPIDER-MAN, will debut this January. Kelly and Bachalo, two industry legends, will be teaming up to give readers the most web-slinging action that can possibly be contained in a comic book. These pulse-pounding adventures of everyone’s favorite web-head will feature his most iconic villains and his most amazing feats ever put to page.
“I get asked who my favorite character is to draw and I reply Spider-Man. I get asked who my favorite writers are to work with and I reply with Joe Kelly. I get asked why I draw comics and I reply that I like telling stories—fast stories,” Bachalo said. “As the name implies, Non-Stop Spider-Man, starting with panel one, is a breakneck, furiously paced Spider-Man story with the purpose to break ankles and knees and then leave you wanting more.”
“Non-Stop Spider-Man is, for me, the best of what Marvel comics can be: relentless action, epic storytelling, mind-melting art, and relevant themes, all grounded by the heart and soul of one of my all-time favorite characters, Spider-Man,” Kelly said. “Chris and I want to redline your adrenaline and shatter your hearts, giggling the whole time. Please sign your waivers and gather your safety gear of choice before issue one comes out. I truly can’t wait for this. Buckle up, Tigers.” Continue reading →
If you had seen last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War”, and chances are you all have, you might be wondering what has happened to Peter Parker after Thanos’s deadly snap wiped out nearly everyone in the universe.
Though there is no official confirmation as of yet whether the upcoming film featuring our friendly neighborhood web-slinger takes place before or after the events of this year’s Infinity War sequel, Avengers Endgame, we can at least confirm that he is back and he is on a trip in Europe with his friends.
Holland reprises Peter Parker / Spider-Man role as well as Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as MJ alongside Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill. Jake Gyllenhaal also joins this time as supervillain Quentin Beck aka Mysterio.
Also back is director/writer Jon Watts, who also wrote and directed the original Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set for release on July 5, 2019.
