Legendary Comics Announces New Graphic Novel Championess

Championess that Delves into the Ferocious 18th Century Craze of Bare-Knuckle Boxing, Set for Release in Fall 2020

Legendary Comics enters the ring with creators Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas to bring readers Championess, a new graphic novel set for release in Fall 2020. Drawing inspiration from the real-life enigmatic boxer Elizabeth Wilkinson who challenged opponents by posting adverts in London newspapers in the early 1700s, this fictitious story follows ‘the Championess of Europe’ as she fights to gain notoriety in the male-dominated sport of bare-knuckle boxing, as well as struggles with her own racial identity. Follow Facebook.com/LegendaryComics for the latest news and updates.

“When Tarun and Kelly first pitched me Championess, I loved that it was based on a true story and explored the life of a female bare-knuckle boxer in the 18th Century,” said Nikita Kannekanti, Editor of Legendary Comics. “It’s such a unique premise, and I had no idea women boxing was a thing back then! I have wanted to bring an incredibly strong, passionate female character to life in an original graphic novel, and the story Tarun and Kelly have created based on Elizabeth Wilkinson is the perfect opportunity.”

“There isn’t much known about Elizabeth Wilkinson, but when we first heard her story, our imaginations went wild as we hung on every detail, from her larger-than-life personality to the way she helped popularize the sport of boxing in its earliest, most brutal days,” said Shanker and Zekas. “We’re so excited to be working with Legendary to tell her remarkable story and explore this fascinating corner of history.”

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” Teaser Trailer Released

By Creative Media Times

Lucasfilm Ltd.

Director J.J. Abrams has released the very first trailer “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” during Star Wars Celebration in event in Chicago on Friday, April 12, giving fans the first look of the highly anticipated final entry in the epic saga.

Abrams, who also directed the first installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy The Force Awakens (2015) were in attendance for the announcement, along with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and some of the film’s cast Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, and Naomi Ackie.

The trailer shows Daisy Ridley’s character Rey, standing alone in an unknown desert planet, wielding her light saber at an incoming starcraft.

“We’ve passed on all we know,” Luke Skywalker says in the background. “A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.”

We then see shots of characters new and old including Finn, Poe, Lando Calrissian, C-3PO, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, and of Princess Leia, played by the late Carrie Fisher. We also see a poignant shot of what looks like the Medal of Bravery which Leia gave to Luke and Han Solo at the end of “Star Wars: A New Hope.”

Towards the end of the trailer, we see Rey and company, then we hear Luke once again. “We’ll always be with you. No one’s ever really gone,” Luke said. Then, the big surprise at the end, we hear a familiar creepy laugh of Ian McDiarmid’s Emperor Palpatine while the title appears.

In many ways, the trailer is perfect. It offers enough nostalgia, with minimal details but enough glimpses of the characters to whet our appetite until the next trailer arrives.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.

Today, April 10, 2019, is a special date for Blade Runner fans — it’s the exact date of rogue Replicant Leon “Let Me Tell You About My Mother” Kowalski’s inception. (Even casual fans remember Leon as the Nexus-6 synthetic human who shoots the Blade Runner giving him a Voight-Kompff empathy test during the film’s opening sequence inside the imposing Tyrell Corporation double pyramid).

In the polluted and rain-drenched neo-noir nightmare that is Los Angeles, 2019, the veteran Blade Runner known as Ash has a new case: a billionaire’s wife and child, both apparently kidnapped by violent Replicants.

Blade Runner 2019 will debut July 17, 2019. The first issue—featuring variant covers by Artgerm, Syd Mead, Andres Guinaldo, and John Royle, among others—is available to pre-order through the upcoming May edition (for July shipping) of Diamond PREVIEWS.

By Creative Media Times

WB

After handily topping the boxoffice this weekend, its really no surprise that New Line/DC will be lining up a sequel to Shazam! to its slate. According to The Wrap, writer Henry Gayden is also set to return for the sequel.

The man who helmed the film to critical success, David F. Sandberg, is also expected to return along with its producer Peter Safran.

Shazam grossed $159 million worldwide this weekend on a $90 million budget, and based off the film’s A CinemaScore, many believe the film will continue to play well throughout the coming weeks until Avengers: Endgame arrive at the end of the month.

No plot details have been announce so far, but the way Shazam ended the story as well as a couple of its post-credit scenes should offer some clues.

“Shazam!” Soundtrack Album Release Date Announced

WaterTower Music has announced that soundtrack to “Shazam!” is set to be released on April 5. Directed by David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”), New Line Cinema’s superhero origin story will be in theaters April 5, 2019.

The 29-track “Shazam!” soundtrack album features original score by acclaimed composer Benjamin Wallfisch (“Blade Runner 2049,” “IT”), under the direction of David F. Sandberg, with whom he worked on the box office hit “Annabelle: Creation.”

“It’s always such an incredible joy collaborating with David,” explained Wallfisch. “Not only is he a visionary filmmaker, he’s also a great musician. We both have a shared love of the classic superhero, fantasy and adventure scores of the 80s, and we started the SHAZAM! score by trying to channel the feeling of wonder and hope that incredible music gives you. It felt like being a kid again; I grew up in the 80s in total awe of, and in love with that music.”

Sandberg spoke about working with Wallfisch on the film’s music. “Ben is the only composer I’ve worked with so far, and the guy is amazing,” explains the director. “Something we talked about is that I wanted it to feel very much like a classic superhero score, because Shazam is a Golden Age Super Hero, and I wanted to honor that history.”

The Shazam! Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available for digital and CD preorder. It will be available for streaming and for purchase digitally April 5, and on CD configuration May 10.

‘The 100’: The Cast And Creator Premieres Season 6 At WonderCon 2019

By Armando

The CW. Photo: aiphotoimaging.com

The cast and creator of The CW’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series “The 100” were at WonderCon on Sunday, where fans were treated with the premiere episode of season 6 at the Arena.

The screening was followed by a Q&A where the cast and crew offered some insight and tidbits about the season.

And while the panel was understandably mum on details, the upcoming new season really looks like a winner if we’re to go by how fun and thrilling the season opener is.

Among those in attendance were cast members Eliza Taylor, JR Bourne, Marie Avgeropoulos, Richard Harmon, Taysa Teles, Sachin Sahel and Shannon Kook as well as executive producer and show creator Jason Rothenberg.

The last episode in the previous season ended what amounts to “Book One.” The new episode exclusively screened during WonderCon essentially opens “Book Two”, which gave us an early look at their visit on the new planet and many more. Is it habitable? What obstacles will they be facing?

Instead of me spoiling the fun away, scroll down below and have a look at the extended trailer which CW dropped a few days ago in case you missed it.

“The 100” is officially set to return to The CW on Tuesday April 30 at 9pm.
