‘Spectre’ trailer delves into Bond’s murky past
By Armando
The long-awaited first trailer for Spectre premiered Friday night. Spectre is the 24th instalment of the Bond franchise which has been shrouded in secrecy throughout its production.
The trailer picks up right where “Skyfall” left off and seem to delve deeper into Bond’s past. Sam Mendes, who helmed Skyfall, is back for another go. A couple of years ago, reports surfaced that he wouldn’t direct a follow-up, but judging by the dark, ominous tone of the trailer, elements that suggest tight narrative continuity from recent Bond movies, it looks like a natural move for Mendes to return and continue along that same old school Bond antics that he successfully set out on Skyfall.
“You’re a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond,” says Mr. White. The character is played by Jesper Christensen, and appeared in earlier “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”.
Daniel Craig returns as 007 for the fourth time, with Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Ralph Fiennes (taking over as the new M), Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Andrew Scott as Denbigh.
“Spectre” opens in theaters on November 6, 2015.

Momoa as Aquaman: First Look
By Armando
For some time now, we’ve known that the DC Trinity, Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman would appear together for the first time in next year’s cinematic event Batman V Superman. This week, Snyder all but confirmed that another top-tier DC character, Aquaman, will be joining them in the movie in 2015 by way of an official picture of the thespian in character. This is not a complete surprise as Momoa himself has showered the director with praises, while fan buzz and gossip has been circulating almost all throughout since the movie’s inception.
No one knows yet how large the role will play in the movie, but its becoming increasingly clear at this point that Aquaman will be sharing the screen with DC Trinity in some capacity.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters March 25, 2016. Aquaman will premiere on July 27, 2018.

The Greatest Living American Actor at 85
Gene Hackman Is Retired But Still in Charge
By Steven Hyden
The Gene Hackman performance that sticks with me the most didn’t occur in one of his 79 films, but rather in a profile written by Roger Ebert for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1971. Hackman stopped in town on the way to a family reunion in Danville, Illinois, where the Hackman clan settled after wandering across four different states during Gene’s early childhood. Hackman later escaped the Midwest by talking his way into the Marines at 16, and after he was discharged four and a half years later, he wandered some more, living briefly in New York, Florida, back in Danville, then back to New York, and then back to the state where he was born, California, where he was enrolled at and swiftly dismissed from the Pasadena Playhouse. Then Hackman wandered more still, back again to New York and a string of odd jobs that propped up his acting ambitions.

Microsoft To Shut Down Xbox Entertainment Studios
By NELLIE ANDREEVA
This morning’s announcement by Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella of one of the largest layoffs in tech history, a plan to cut 18,000 jobs, triggered a whirlwind of speculation about the future of the fledgling Xbox Entertainment Studios. In a memo, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division and Microsoft Studios, just confirmed that the company will close the Entertainment Studios in the coming months.
Nancy Tellem, Jordan Levin and some of the XES team will stay on for some time to shepherd original programming already in production, including the documentary series about technology Signal to Noise and the Halo game franchise extensions, digital feature Halo: Nightfall and the Halo TV series, which will continue as planned with Microsoft’s 343 Industries and Amblin. Xbox also will continue to support and deliver interactive sports content like ‘NFL on Xbox.’ XBox’s app partnerships are not impacted.
