By Creative Media Times

Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok, has signed on to an animated adaptation of Flash Gordon, Deadline reported.

The source has said that Waiti will direct and write the film, though his camp says “it’s too early to gauge exactly what his role would be.”

A Flash Gordon live action film reboot has been in development for years in Fox, at some point both Matthew Vaughn and Julius Avery were attached to helm. But with the recent merger of Disney and Fox, it appears the effort is going in a new direction.

Waititi is currently working in the post-production of an upcoming film “Jojo Rabbit,” an adaptation of the novel by Christine Leunens, Caging Skies which is set for release this October.

Waititi has previous stated how the superhero film Flash Gordon has influenced Thor: Ragnarok. The former was released in 1980 and starred Sam J. Jones as the title character and directed by Mike Hodges.

Sony Confirms Tom Hardy’s Return For Venom Sequel

By Creative Media Times

Director Ruben Fleischer, Riz Ahmed, and Tom Hardy – Photo: AI Photo Imaging

“I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no-one else can,” one of Venom film’s producers Amy Pascal told Fandango last week regarding Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock aka Venom.

Hardy of starred in the 2018 film, based on the Marvel character of the same name. Though the film wasn’t a hit with critics, it was a surprise at the boxoffice, grossing $855 million worldwide making the sequel somewhat inevitable.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the sequel was in development, though Hardy’s involvement at that time was not confirmed.

Venom’s character is a sentient alien symbiote which needs a human host to survive, eventually giving the host enhanced powers. Eddie Brock is the investigative journalist who comes in contact and bonded with the alien and become Venom, who is both vengeful and a hero to those he deems innocent.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, “Venom” is one of 2018’s biggest success stories.

Though its logical for the film to be directed by the man who made is so highly successful, it has not been announced whether Fleischer will be returning to helm. He is said to being production on a Zombieland sequel, which ironically also stars Harrelson.

Venom 2 is supposedly set for release on October 2, 2020.

Pink Floyd Guitarist Auctions Off Guitars, Raises $21.5 Million For Climate Change Charity

By Eric Gasa

David Gilmore, credited for his guitar work on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon, has auctioned off his immense 126 guitar collection towards fighting climate change and hopefully preventing some dark times here on earth. In an eight-hour auction at Christie’s Auction House in New York, 2,000 bidders from 66 countries participated in owning a piece of rock history for the greater good of the planet.

The auction house says it raised $21.5 million on Thursday, including a whopping $3,975,000 for Gilmore’s famed 1969 Fender Stratocaster known as the ‘Black Strat’. The Fender classic sold to Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay and set a new world record for a guitar sold at auction.
Gilmore’s ‘Black Strat’ was used in the recording of Floyd’s most seminal work including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall.

“Either we choose to go on as a civilization, or we don’t. The choice really is that simple,” said Gilmore on a video posted on his Twitter, later calling the global climate crisis “the greatest challenge humanity will ever face…”

Proceeds went to ClientEarth, a nonprofit organization fighting climate change through international laws and raising public awareness.

“This gift is a phenomenal boost to our work…It will allow us to play an even greater role in addressing the climate crisis and securing a healthy planet for future generations,” said ClientEarth CEO, James Thornton in an official statement.

97%-98% of climate scientists support the consensus that humans contribute to climate change and that carbon emissions are leading to the warming greenhouse effect. An official UN Climate Panel in 2014 stated that the affects of climate change will become irreversible within the next decades if proper steps are not taken.

“I hope that the sale of these guitars will help ClientEarth in their actions to use the law to bring about real change,” the famed guitarist said, “We need a civilized world that goes on for all our grandchildren and beyond, in which these guitars can be played, and songs can be sung.”
