Ridley Scott confirms more Alien movies

By AI Creative Media

Its still two months away from the release of Alien: Covenant but Sir Ridley Scott is already prepping more Alien movies. In fact, he’s already got a title for the next one.

There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien. It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant,’ said Scott in a recent interview with Fandango. “It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant.. fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way….” says the director.

Main takeaway: not only will there be another Alien movie, Scott is already working on it with a title in place called Awakening which presumably completes a trilogy and more coming our way, contingent on how Covenant and Awakening performs. “If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more,” Scott added.

Having this new Awakening film sandwiched between Prometheus and the upcoming Covenant suggests a non-linear timeline of these three movies. So let’s not even get into how confusing that is, and just enjoy the ride and see what the master has in store this summer.

Alien: Covenant, starring Michael Fassbender, James Franco and Katherine Waterston, is due to hit cinemas on May 12.

‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ gets sequel and new cast

By AI Creative Media

After years of speculation, the  long-gestating sequel to David Fincher’s 2011 thriller ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ is finally back on track.

The sequel, ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’ will be directed by Fede Alverez, the man behind last year’s surprise horror-thriller hit ‘Don’t Breathe’, a modestly budgeted horror-thriller that was critically well-reviewed and grossed over $157 million. The movie will debut in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. The announcement was made at the London Book Fair during a celebration for the fifth Millennium book launch.

“I’m hugely excited and grateful for this opportunity,” Alvarez said. “Sony has become family to me and I can’t think of a more thrilling project to celebrate our relationship. Lisbeth Salander is the kind of character any director dreams of bringing to life. We’ve got a great script and now comes the most fun part – finding our Lisbeth.”

The sequel’s road to fruition was not an easy path. ‘Dragon’ sequel ‘The Girl Who Played Fire’ was originally intended for a 2013 release but was later delayed as ‘Dragon Tattoo’ writer Steve Zaillian was “still working on the script”, then later, Hollywood Reporter reported neither Rooney Mara (who played the series’ lead character) nor Daniel Craig will be back, and that Sony was planning on a franchise reboot instead, with Steven Knight (Burnt) in talks about an adaptation right after ‘Web’ was published.

New ‘Baby Driver’ Trailer

By AI Creative Media

Cult director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) is back with his much-anticipated stylish new film called “Baby Driver”, and it looks like his most ambitious movie yet. The trailer shows plenty of excellently choreographed car chases and rollicking musical soundtrack, as title character “Baby” Ansel Elgort (who starred in last three Divergent Series films, and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’) tries to get out of criminal life from Kevin Spacey’s character ‘Doc’.

A few years ago, director Wright was attached to a would-be summer Marvel blockbuster Ant-Man, but later dropped out due to “creative differences”. A few months later, he announced that ‘Baby’ will be his next film instead, which he will both write and direct. Today we get a glimpse of the fruits of his labor.

The movie had its world premiere at South by Southwest, and so far it has been getting strong reviews, with HR calling it “a sweet and speed-crazed crime film you can dance to.”

Here’s a film synopsis to give you a better idea: Talented getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After meeting the woman (Lily James) of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his criminal lifestyle and make a clean break. Coerced into working for a mob boss (Kevin Spacey), Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Baby Driver, which also stars Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx and Eiza González, rides into theaters on August 11th, 2017.

New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ shows a young Jack Sparrow

By Armando

The trailer, which premiered on Ellen this week, shows some of the origin of Javier Bardem’s villain, Captain Armando Salazar, and his encounter with a young Sparrow. “He took everything from me and filled me with rage,” says Salazar. We then learn that this encounter shaped Sparrow’s character and why he’s being chased. The trailer then continues with a grown-up Sparrow and more action on the highs seas.

This time around, there’s a lot more scenes in the trailer showing Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, who’s been hidden away in most of the movie’s marketing. We also see the return of Geoffrey Rush’s Barbosa and Orlando Bloom’s Captain Will Turner.

I’m not entirely sure if the young Sparrow is CG for what appears to be a series of flashback scenes. Looking at the movie’s IMDB page, there’s no hint of who might be playing that role. But all in all, it looks like a fun new installment in the swashbuckling series. Despite diminishing returns on the domestic front, Sparrow and the ‘Pirates’ continue to be a major international attraction, with almost 77% of the global box-office gross of the last installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides coming from foreign markets. The movie also has a new synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Starring Johnny Depp, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom and Javier Bardem, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ “final adventure begins” on May 26.
