Music Forward and Gibson Gives Announce Recipients of LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award Scholarships

The Music Forward Foundation–a national nonprofit in the Live Nation family, which creates opportunities for young talent in the music industry by mentoring entertainment careers for the next generation–has partnered with Gibson Gives, the non-profit division of the legendary music brand Gibson, to support the unique and impactful annual grant program, the LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Awards.

The goal of the LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Awards is to help break down the barriers of access in the music industry, allowing artists to have thriving and successful careers and to promote a more inclusive music industry overall.

The Music Forward Foundation and Gibson Gives are thrilled to announce the ten LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award recipients for 2024. Each recipient will receive:

$3000 Grant
$1000 Gibson retail for an instrument.
Performance Opportunities that include the Gibson Garage Nashville, as well as other venues.
A career mentoring session with singer-songwriter and record producer Butch Walker.
Quarterly Mentorship with the Gibson and Music Forward teams.

“Studio One Forever”: Doc of America’s Iconic Gay Disco

Directed by Marc Saltarelli, the documentary “Studio One Forever” is set to release in theaters on September 13 at the Landmark Theatres sunset and on VOD on October 8 via Gravitas.

studio-one-foreverA beacon of dancing and freedom for gay men looking for identity in a world that saw them as outcasts, Studio One was a haven and the blossoming center of nightlife in West Hollywood. From merging the gay community and Hollywood elites like Bette Davis and Jimmy Stewart to being at the forefront of the LBGTQ+ rights movement and the fight against the AIDS crisis, the venue was more than just a disco, it was a movement.

In “Studio One Forever”, Marc Saltarelli and narrators Bruce Vilanch and David Del Valle dive into the history of the historic venue, offering a testament to an era and immortalizing the club’s legacy for future generations.

The documentary features candid, modern-day interviews with Chita Rivera, Sam Harris, Felipe Rose, Charlo Crossley, Melissa Rivers, Roslyn Kind, Lance Bass, Thelma Houston along with former bartenders and patrons who recount their experiences at Studio One, and what the iconic club stood for.

Official Trailer for Hulu’s Upcoming “Prom Dates”

The comedy is directed by Kim O Nguyen, who directed the acclaimed 2012 Canadian dramatic war film “War Witch”.

The film follows Jess and Hannah, who, at 13 years old made a pact to have the perfect prom, only 24 hours before the big event, everything is ruined when they break up with their dates. Now they have one night to find new dates and make the fantasy comes true.

Prom Dates is set for release by Hulu on May 3, 2024.
