Henry Cavill Confirms “I Am Back as Superman”

Henry Cavill has confirmed in a social media post today that he is returning as Superman. This following his cameo at the end of the new Warner Bros-DC “Black Adam.”

Cavil posted, “I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman…Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

“A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded,” the actor posted on Instagram.

Cavill first played the role of Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel. This was followed by the character’s return in two follow-up films (2016), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League (2017). However, there is some indication that his return may not follow these versions of the character. In “Black Adam” he walked out to the classic Superman theme and not the Hans Zimmer theme created for “Man of Steel.”

Cavill also plays Geralt in Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher, and as Sherlock Holmes opposite Millie Bobby Brown in the Enola Holmes films.

“Nuisance Bear” First Documentary Short Film to Receive Three Critics Choice Documentary Awards Nominations

The New Yorker débuted a new short documentary today, “Nuisance Bear,” which presents a portrait of a Manitoba town where travellers arrive in droves every autumn to observe the migration of polar bears. The footage that filmmakers Jack Weisman and Gabriela Osio Vanden captured reveals as much about the behavior of the humans—including the scrums of wilderness paparazzi that descend on Churchill, Manitoba every fall—as that of the bears.

Earlier this week, “Nuisance Bear” received three Critics Choice Documentary Award nominations—a first for a short—for Best Cinematography, Best Short Documentary, and Best Science/Nature Documentary. These nominations join a list of more than a dozen other honors for the film.

In a genre that relies heavily on voice-overs to bridge the gap between humans and wildlife, Weisman and Osio Vanden chose not to include narration or music in the film. Weisman told The New Yorker, “We were curious: Can we make it an experiment—a challenge to ourselves as artists and filmmakers—to tell this narrative and have people really feel engaged without those elements?” Another pivotal moment came during the filming, when they decided to mount a camera on their car, at the eye level of the bears. “It was important for us to maintain that animal’s perspective,” Osio Vanden said. The result is a film that pushes the conventions of the nature documentary.

“Nuisance Bear,” which was executive produced by Sigrid Dyekjær and Alex Pritz, has screened at more than ninety festivals and received numerous honors, including an Honorable Mention for Best Canadian Short Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, as well as selections at the SXSW Film Festival and the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. It also won the Academy Award® -qualifying awards for Best International Short Film at the 2022 American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) and Best Non-Fiction Film at the 2022 Short Shorts Film Festival.

XYZ Films Sets Release of Mark Hartley’s “Girl At The Window”

Girl At The Window is set to be released on digital and VOD on November 4, 2022.

XYZ Films has also released the poster premiere and trailer debut (see trailer below).

“Girl At The Window” is directed by Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation!, Machete Maidens Unleashed!) who is best known for his genre-focused exploitation documentaries.

This serial-killer-next-door thriller stars Radha Mitchell of the Silent Hill Franchise. Terence Hammond & Nicolette Minster wrote the script.

Following Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters and Star Wars: Crimson Reign, writer Charles Soule will complete his trilogy of game-changing Star Wars comic book epics this November in Star Wars: Hidden Empire.

The five-issue limited series will continue to spotlight the breakout character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lady Qi’ra. Since her comics debut, the criminal leader has had a tremendous impact on Marvel’s Star Wars comics storytelling, and Star Wars: Hidden Empire will see Qi’ra set her bold overarching plan in motion: ridding the galaxy of the Sith.

The series will be drawn by artist Steven Cummings, who also worked on Star Wars: Crimson Reign. In addition, Cummings has crafted a stunning connecting piece that will adorn all five issues. These variant covers show some of the stars of the saga including Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, the Knights of Ren, and more key characters who will take sides in the upcoming conflict.

“Hidden Empire is set between Episodes V and VI. HARDY Announces Headline the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour

Big Loud noisemaker HARDY is on the verge of his biggest year yet, unveiling today the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour, a 16-date headline run presented by Live Nation launching February 16, 2023, in Indianapolis, Ind.
