Max has announced that Peacemaker, the DC series starring John Cena, will return for its second season on August 21, 2025, with a total of eight episodes. The announcement was accompanied by an official teaser trailer, offering a first look at what’s to come.
The series picks up after the events of The Suicide Squad (2021), with Peacemaker recovering from his near-fatal encounter with Bloodsport. As he regains his freedom, he soon finds that it comes with new consequences. The teaser shows the character attempting to integrate into a new superhero team while grappling with the fallout of previous events.
Much of the original cast returns for Season 2, including Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick. New cast members include Tim Meadows.
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, returns as the creative force behind the show. Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed three of them. His involvement in Peacemaker Season 2 comes amid another major DC project: the upcoming Superman reboot, which he also wrote and directed.
