Its been a long road for the Amazonian princess to the big screen, more than 75 years since her debut in All Star Comics# 8 in 1941, but now the time has finally arrived.

The review embargo on Wonder Woman has just been lifted Monday, and based on early feedback, it seems fans and comics geeks have a lot to celebrate. As of Tuesday morning, the movie has a 97% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com with 58 reviews in. The critics consensus is that the movie is “thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot’s charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion.”

Cath Clarke from Time Out boldly compares the movie with ‘Indiana Jones’, describing Wonder Woman as “a rollicking action adventure… with a fully functioning sense of humour and the year’s most lip-smackingly evil baddie.”

The review from Entertainment Weekly‘s Chris Nashawaty is just as positive, gushing that “Wonder Woman is smart, slick, and satisfying in all of the ways superhero films ought to be.”

Variety’s Andrew Barker compares Wonder Woman’s treatment to previous DCEU films as a “welcome respite from DC’s house style of grim darkness with star Gal Gadot proving an inspired choice for this avatar of truth, justice and the Amazonian way.”

Directed by Patty Jenkins with a script by Allan Heinberg, Wonder Woman is the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe, following Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad, all of which are box-office successes, but received mixed to bad reviews from critics.

Apart from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, it has been a lackluster month of May at the box-office. But based on early critics feedback and high fan anticipation, it looks like another superhero has come to the summer in the right path.
