Wonder Woman fans now have to wait a little longer for the sequel the 2017 breakout hit.According to various reports “Wonder Woman 1984” has been pushed back November 1, 2019 to June 5th, 2020, a date now vacated by another Warner Bros. film “Six Billion Dollar Man” which is set to star Mark Wahlberg.
“Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!,” star Gal Gadot tweeted.
The first week of June has been good to the Princess Themyscira. In 2017, Warner Bros. released Wonder Woman on June 2. The film went on to $821 million worldwide.
“We had tremendous success releasing the first Wonder Woman film during the summer so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did,” said in a Warner Bros. statement. “This move lands the film exactly where it belongs.”
Written and directed by Jenkins, “Wonder Woman 1984” bring Gadot back as Diana Prince and Chris Pine as American pilot and the love interest of Diana Steve Trevor. New in the film is Kristen Wiig as the film’s villain as Cheetah a.k.a. Barbara Ann Minerva.
