2019 Gotham Independent Film Awards kicks off the awards season, with the Independent Filmmakers Project announcing the nominations on Thursday morning.
Leading the nominations “Marriage Story,” “The Farewell,” “Uncut Gems” and “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” with three nods each. Marriage Story, The Farewell and Uncut Gems all received best feature noms along with Hustlers and Waves.
Distributor A24 also scored big. In addition best feature nominees “The Farewell,” “Uncut Gems” and “Waves”, all of which are distributed by A24, the company’s other films “The Lighthouse,” “Midsommar” and “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” also received nominations in other categories.
The IFP Gotham Awards are selected by distinguished juries and presented in New York City, and “honors the filmmaking community, expands the audience for independent films, and supports the work that IFP does behind the scenes throughout the year to bring such films to fruition.”
This year’s awards will be announced on Dec. 2 in New York, with the winners determined by online voting of IFP members.
