Kings of Leon Drop 10th Album O My Beloved, Map 30-Stop North American Tour

kings-of-leonKings of Leon released their 10th studio album, O My Beloved, and announced a 30-city North American tour kicking off in May.

The record marks the first time the Nashville band has fully self-produced an album. Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Followill built the collection around themes of family, gratitude, and the everyday moments that shaped their lives. The sound is stripped back, closer to the raw approach they took when they first started making music in Nashville.

O My Beloved includes 13 tracks. The band previewed three songs ahead of the release: “My Whole World,” “Cold Blue Dawn,” and “KOYSAR,” short for “Kick Off Your Shoes and Run.” “Cold Blue Dawn” came with a lyric video that used NASA satellite topography, made in partnership with The Weather Channel.

The tour, promoted by Live Nation, starts May 8 in Bristow, Virginia and runs through October 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Band of Horses will support most of the dates, with Dexter and The Moonrocks joining others. The band will perform material from across their catalog, including the new album.

Tickets go on sale November 13 at 9am local time. Presales for Spotify Premium subscribers start November 9, with artist, Citi, and Amex presales beginning November 10. Full tour dates and ticket details are available at kingsofleon.com.

The band announced the tour during an appearance on CBS Mornings. They’ll perform two songs from O My Beloved on CBS Saturday Morning.

Rush Announces Five-Show Residency at Sphere in Las Vegas

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are bringing Rush to Sphere in Las Vegas for five shows in May 2027.

The band will perform on May 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30. Each night will feature fan favorites and greatest hits from across Rush’s catalog, honoring the band’s legacy and the late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

“When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, ‘wow, what a shame that Rush is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,'” Lee says. “But life is nothing if not surprising and now, here we are, living and touring in the present tense and we are able to make that particular dream come true.”

Lee says the band is working to expand their touring concepts for the venue and plans to perform all of 2112 and all of Moving Pictures, along with other songs.

Lee and Lifeson will be joined by drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold, the same lineup performing on Rush’s current Fifty Something tour. That tour has sold over 1 million tickets across Canada, the United States, Mexico, South America, Europe, and the UK.

Tickets go on sale November 13 at 10 AM PT at rush.com/sphere.

Ellie Gravitte Directs Her Real-Life Family in Musical Feature “Get Happy” at Connecticut Home

A Connecticut family is shooting a musical feature film in their own house. Production is underway on “Get Happy”, the debut feature from writer/director Ellie Gravitte. The film stars her mother, Tony Award-winning actress Debbie Gravitte, her father Beau Gravitte, and other family members. Filming runs through November 9 in Redding, CT.

“I’d been waiting a long time for a ‘yes’ from big-name talent and financiers who were hesitant to take a chance on a first-time filmmaker,” Gravitte says. “This summer, I decided to stop waiting. So I wrote a film for my entire family to star in, and we’re shooting it in our house.”

The film follows the Williams family over a single day. When three adult children bring their significant others home for an annual gathering, musical performances, botched meals, and interpersonal dramas pile up.

The film features eight songs captured live on camera, including standards like “Get Happy” and “Fascinating Rhythm”, plus an original song, “No One Has It Worse”, written by Gravitte and Carlo Ladd.

The cast has more than a dozen Broadway credits between them. Debbie Gravitte won the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and a Grammy for “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway”. She’s currently on Broadway in “Just in Time”. Beau Gravitte spent a year in the national tour of “The Notebook” and has Broadway credits including “The Light in the Piazza”. Sam Gravitte made his Broadway debut in “Wicked” and later starred as Fiyero.

The production is raising funds through a Kickstarter campaign that ends November 20. Producers are Lavinia Jones Wright and Lindsey Formes of I Play Different Productions.

Jimmy Buffett Doc Takes Fans Back to the Coral Reefers’ Key West Origins

A new documentary is pulling back the curtain on the musicians who helped create Jimmy Buffett’s signature sound.

OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD: The First Coral Reefers hits theaters in New York and drops digitally across the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand this Friday, October 30. The film dives into the 1970s and early 1980s to tell the origin story of Buffett’s original Coral Reefer Band, the group that laid the foundation for what became a Parrot Head empire.

Set against the backdrop of Key West, the doc features never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with founding band members, tour managers, producers, and music legends including Kenny Chesney and Mac McAnally. Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges narrates.

Director John H. Cunningham’s film captures the chaos and camaraderie of an era that ran on creative freedom. The documentary premiered at Santa Barbara International Film Festival earlier this year and has picked up awards on the festival circuit.

For Buffett fans, it’s a chance to meet the people behind the hits and understand the volatile, magical moment that shaped one of music’s most distinctive sounds. The film runs 92 minutes and opens with Q&As in New York at Village East.

Jazz Trumpet Legend Marcus Belgrave Gets His Due in New Doc

Marcus Belgrave made his professional debut at 12. He performed with Ray Charles, Charles Mingus, and Motown’s Funk Brothers. He mentored generations of musicians and helped shape Detroit’s jazz scene. But chances are, you’ve never heard of him.

A new documentary, AND DAMN, HE COULD PLAY, aims to change that. The film makes its world premiere at DOC NYC this November, celebrating the unsung trumpet player who left his mark all over American music.

Directed by Emmy winner Timashion Jones, the 91-minute portrait traces Belgrave’s journey from prodigy to educator. Mentored by trumpet icon Clifford Brown, Belgrave became a guiding force himself, teaching and inspiring jazz luminaries like Geri Allen, Kenny Garrett, and Regina Carter. He was also a key figure in Tribe, Detroit’s groundbreaking arts collective.

The doc features archival performances and interviews with Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Don Was, Sheila Jordan, and techno pioneer Carl Craig, among others. Narrated by Wendell Pierce, it’s written by Jones and producer Brad Torreano.

It’s a tribute to an artist who never chased the spotlight but shaped the sound of everyone around him. For anyone who cares about jazz history or the creative ecosystems that keep music alive, this one matters.

Iron Maiden Add Surprise Third North American Leg to 50th Anniversary Tour

Iron Maiden are coming back to North America in spring 2027 for one more run.

The metal icons just wrapped a massive leg of their Run for Your Lives tour across the U.S. and Canada, and now they’re adding 16 more dates, hitting cities they missed the first time around. The tour kicks off April 14 in Tacoma and wraps May 16 at the Boardwalk Rock festival in Ocean City, Maryland.

“Maiden were planning on taking a break from live performances in 2027,” bassist Steve Harris says, “but we’ve been enjoying this last leg in the USA and Canada so much that we all had a chat and decided we should take the show to parts we missed, particularly the North West and South East.”

The shows will feature the same dramatic production as the first leg, with a setlist pulled from the band’s early career. Bullet for My Valentine and The Raven Age will support on all dates, marking the first time since 1983 that Maiden has put together an all-British three-band bill.

This will be the final leg of the Run for Your Lives tour, which by the end will have played 107 shows to over 3 million fans in 36 countries. Manager Rod Smallwood says the first leg saw some of the biggest shows Maiden has ever played in North America, including their first U.S. stadium headliners.

Tickets go on sale October 23. Eddie’s Dive Bars will return at every stop.
