Official Trailer: Timothée Chalamet is Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”

The first trailer for “A Complete Unknown” starring Dune actor Timothée Chalamet as iconic folk singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has been released.

The biographical drama is directed by James Mangold and is set for release this December.

Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician BOB DYLAN’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

The film also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.

SDCC 2024: The National Association of Voice Actors Returns to San Diego Comic-Con

NAVANAVA is returning to SDCC after a successful panel last year. NAVA is the leading advocate for voice actors and AI protections, will lead a discussion on how new standards need to be built for artists, performers, and producers to collaborate on great products, while still protecting individual rights to intellectual property, performance, and publicity.

One issues that is ever looming is the threat of AI, and very likely to be a major panel issue. “Entertainment performers and artists of all kinds must adapt to this groundbreaking technology that can not only replicate their words, art, images, voices, and movements but also feed machine learning to create entirely new content,” according to the release.

Moderated by voice actor Linsay Rousseau (Transformers: War for Cybertron, media affairs director for NAVA), panelists include voice actors Tim Friedlander (president/founder of NAVA, Like a Dragon), JP Karliak (founder/president of QueerVox, X-Men ’97), Carin Gilfry (co-founder of NAVA, Starfield), Matthew “Reazon” Parham (director of operations for NAVA, Marvel’s MechStrike), and lawyer Scott Mortman (founder/CEO of global business consulting and legal advisory services AREDA Ventures, council for NAVA).

“AI in Entertainment: The Threat to Performers Writers and Artists” will be on Saturday July 27, 2024 4:00pm – 5:00pm PDT, at Omni San Diego Hotel, Omni Grand Ballroom DE, 4th Floor.

“Conclave” Trailer: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci Star

conclave-movie-2024The new trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller “Conclave,” Academy Award winner Edward Berger’s follow-up to 2022’s “All Quiet on the Western Front,” has been released.

In the film, Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, selecting a new Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of The Church.

John Lithgow, Lucian Msamati, Brían F. O’Byrne, Carlos Diehz, Merab Ninidze, Thomas Loibl, and Sergio Castellitto co-star.

Based on the book by Robert Harris, the film is set for a U.S. theatrical release on November 1st.

Lucha: A Wrestling Tale, Drum Song: The Rhythm of Life, Miwene

Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Film Festival announced the film lineup for its 13th edition, taking place August 7-11. GFF will kick things off with Marco Ricci’s Lucha: A Wrestling Tale on Opening Night, a two-film retrospective of New York City-based Spanish filmmaker Alex Lora’s The Masterpiece and Unicorns as its Centerpiece presentation, and a documentary double feature including the US Premiere of Kelly Moneymaker’s Drum Song: The Rhythm of Life and festival favorite Miwene, directed by Keith Heyward, Jennifer Berglund, Gange Anita Yeti Enomenga, and Obe Beatriz Nenquimo Nihua for Closing Night.

Additional US Premieres among the narrative feature film lineup include; Marco Amenta’s Anna, Paweł Wyszomirski’s The Green Ink, Adrian Apanel’s Horror Story, Jan Jakub Kolski’s Loonies, Paweł Maślona’s Scarborn, and Maciej Adamek’s Unspoken is a portrait of a determined and resilient young man who stutters but refuses to let it hinder his aspirations to become the Polish champion in acrobatics. The documentary features making their US Premieres include Viktor Witkowski’s Moje Własne Słowa (In My Words), Dominic Allen’s Planet Wind – The Global Story of Offshore Wind, and Sonia Zawitkowski and Jenna Kathleen Taylor’s Thank You for Sharing.

The film festival has more than doubled the number of films screened from last year, now totaling 118 films (20 feature-length, 95 shorts, and 3 XR exhibits). GFF’s footprint has also become larger with additional screens added to The Boiler / ELM Foundation location (191 N. 14th Street), and Film Noir (122 Meserole Avenue) also added to the mix.

Official Trailer For “City of Dreams” Drama Thriller Released

city-of-dreamsInspired by true events, “City of Dreams” is written, directed and produced by Mohit Ramchandani. It stars Ari Lopez, Renata Vaca, Alfredo Castro, Paulina Gaitán, Jason Patric and Diego Calva.

The film follows Jesús, a young Mexican boy whose dreams of becoming a soccer star are shattered when he’s trafficked across the border and sold to a sweatshop making fast fashion in downtown Los Angeles.

Thrust into a world of exploitation and despair; he’s forced to adhere to the grueling work schedule dictated by El Jefe, a boss who promises freedom for those who complete their quotas. Despite Jesus’s hellish existence, he finds solace in Elena, a girl who was similarly betrayed and sold into slavery. When she goes missing and another co-worker Carlito’s is severely beaten, Jesus realizes that his only hope for freedom is to make a daring escape.

City of Dreams is set for release on August 30, 2024.

Lionsgate’s “Crescent City” Sets Release In Theaters and Digital

crescent-cityLionsgate’s is set to release its upcoming crime thriller “Crescent City” on August 16 in theaters and on digital and on-demand.

The film is directed by RJ Collins and is from the script by Rich Ronat.

In the film, when a small southern town is terrorized by a relentless serial killer everyone becomes a suspect…including local authorities. As the body count rises and the dark mystery deepens, the chief detective becomes haunted by the horrors of his past. Academy Award Nominee’s Terrence Howard and Alec Baldwin star in a mesmerizing crime thriller about what it costs to catch a killer.

The film also stars Esai Morales and Nicky Whelan.

Dark Sky Films Sets Release Of Its Thriller Film “The Blue Rose”

the-blue-roseDark Sky Films is set to release its upcoming to theaters and digital/VOD platforms on July 12.

Directed by George Baron, the film is described as a “genre-bending surrealist noir set in the 1950s”.

“The Blue Rose” follows the one-night journey of two rookie detectives as they set out to solve a seemingly clear-cut homicide, only to find themselves in an alternate reality of their worst nightmares.

The cast includes Olivia Scott Welch (Fear Street: Part One – 1994, Shithouse), George Baron, Danielle Bisutti, Nikko Austen Smith, Glume Harlow, Jordyn Denning, Evee Bui, Sophie Cooper, Logan Miller, Ray Wise.

SDCC 2024: “The Man in the White Van” Theatrical Release x Comic-Con Panel

the-man-in-the-white-vanIt was announced today that Relativity Media has acquired Warren Skeels’ thriller The Man in the White Van for a wide theatrical release on October 11 from Garrison Film and the fan-owned entertainment company, Legion M. 

Starring Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Stranger Things), Ali Larter (ABC’s The Rookie, Final Destination), Madison Wolfe (The Conjuring 2) Brec Bassinger (CW’s Stargirl), Gavin Warren (Night Swim) and Skai Jackson (Jessie), The Man in the White Van delves into the harrowing experiences of Annie Williams (Wolfe), a spirited family girl, whose carefree existence is turned upside down as she finds herself stalked by an ominous man in a white van. Prone to exaggeration, her parent’s disbelief in her tales of being followed, lead to a terrifying Halloween nightmare.

LAIKA announces Live Action Film CRUMBLE with Brian Duffield Writing and Directing and Lord Miller Producing

laikaAward-winning studio LAIKA is bolstering its Live Action slate by acquiring Crumble, an original script by Brian Duffield (Spontaneous, No One Will Save You), who will direct. Oscar® winners Phil Lord and Chris Miller as well as Aditya Sood will produce through their Lord Miller banner. Duffield will also produce.  Lucy Kitada and Nikki Baida from Lord Miller will serve as executive producers. 
 
Crumble tells the tale of a married couple who go on a world-traversing adventure in the hope of finding a cure to an ancient curse.
 
LAIKA’s President, Live Action Film & Series Matt Levin made the announcement today.
 
“We’re so excited to partner with Brian and the entire team at Lord Miller on this special film,” said Levin.  “Brian has such a singular voice and Crumble perfectly embodies the bold, emotional, and inventive storytelling that we champion at LAIKA. “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” Debuts First Trailer

best-christmas-pageant-everLionsgate has released a new trailer for its upcoming comedy from director Dallas Jenkins “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. Jenkins is also the creator of the Bible-based series “The Chosen”.

The holiday themed film stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Elizabeth Tabish, and Lauren Graham, with Stephanie Sy and Kirk B.R. Woller. It is an adaptation of Barbara Robinson’s 1972 novel by the same name.

Here is the film’s synopsis: The Herdmans – Gladys, Claude, Imogene, Leroy, Ollie and Ralph – are undeniably the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, cheat, bully and overall terrorize their small community. But this Christmas, they’re taking over their local church Pageant – and they just might unwittingly teach a shocked little town the true meaning of Christmas.
