New Godzilla trailer is epic

By Armando

After much anticipation, teasers and movie poster releases over the last few weeks, the Godzilla trailer is finally out and it’s epic!

This new trailer follows the first teaser released months ago. But this one ups the ante further in scale. The trailer doesn’t completely provide a full view of Godzilla, but enough of the the Japanese monster’s scale and detail that gives us glimpses of how much damage and destruction Godzilla will leave in its wake.

Here we see soldiers air-dropping onto the monster, a shot of a damaged Statue of Liberty, and a truly epic shot of Godzilla rising out of the ocean. I also find the premise that the nuclear tests in the Pacific, originally the source of awakening the giant creature, were actually intended to destroy Godzilla is very intriguing.

All that promises a lot of action and suspense which hopefully washes the bad taste of that cheese 1998 version. Overall its looking like a massive improvement. And that Bryan Cranston… he is mad as hell!
Godzilla opens May 16, 2014

Director: Gareth Edwards
Starring: Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen
Release: 16 May 2014 (USA)

Fox’s GOTHAM Casts Four Including THE PENGUIN & ALFRED

By Lucas Siegel

It seems Batman origin stories are all the rage.

The population of Gotham, Fox’s upcoming Batman origin drama, is rising fast after the weekend announcement of Ben McKenzie being cast as the lead role, James Gordon .

THR reports that four more actors have joined the cast, including a police captain, a love interest, a butler, and a villain. Robin Lord Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, and Erin Richards come into Gotham with three out of the four characters being very recognizable names to comic book fans.

Pertwee is the newest person to play Alfred Pennyworth, the butler who also takes care of Bruce Wayne after his parents are killed. Jeremy Irons was also recently cast as Alfred, but for the film version in Man of Steel 2.

The Lego Movie: Film Review

By Armando Inquig

Entering a movie titled ‘The Lego Movie,’ I instantly assumed I was in for a full-length product placement for a toy brand that, frankly, I was not completely enamored with when I was a kid. If this is indeed an extended Lego commercial, as the title suggests, then consider me sold because I have just witnessed one of the best animated features in many years.

Warner Bros.

“From the creators of ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,’ Phil Lord and Chris Miller have crafted a relentlessly funny and hyperactive animated romp with a surprising final act that is emotional, inspiring, and imaginative.

Blending slick animation with slapstick comedy and an intelligent script filled with zippy one-liners, the movie appeals to both nostalgic adult male audiences reminiscing about their childhood Lego blocks and young viewers who will be captivated by the spectacular visuals and a cast of hilarious and familiar characters from DC comics, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings, alongside fresh and equally entertaining original characters.

The story is simple. It revolves around Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary construction worker who listens to pop music (specifically, ‘Everything is Awesome,’ a juvenile bubblegum pop song that’s disturbingly catchy), buys expensive coffee, and strictly follows Lego’s instruction manual to lead his life of daily routines.

The ruler of this Matrix-like world is President Business (Will Ferrell), who is so determined to maintain order that he plans to use Kragle glue to literally keep everyone’s feet firmly attached to the ground.

Enter Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), our free-spirited, tomboyish heroine who also happens to be dating Batman (Will Arnett). She encounters Emmet, and their adventure into the fascinating Lego world begins.

The movie is uproarious and chaotic, mirroring the supposed way Lego is played. One moment, the screen is covered in scattered Lego pieces; the next, it showcases a sea of incredibly creative buildings, planes, and captivating backgrounds that will ignite anyone’s imagination.

This movie deserves to be experienced in all its 3D glory.

‘The Lego Movie’ reminds us that the power of imagination and teamwork can coexist in the process of building and creation—a message that is refreshingly simple yet surprisingly uncommon not just in animated features but in films in general.”

Guardians of the Galaxy: First Look

A first look at one of the most highly anticipated, star-studded movie of 2014.

By Armando

This week, Marvel rang the new year with the first official picture from upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel Comics of the same name.

Directed by James Gunn, the promo image recalls the iconic Usual Suspects poster with the cast of characters standing on a lineup that suggests a strong comedic tone the movie will have.

From left: Zoe Saldana as the Gamora, standing next to Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians. And then there’s Rocket Roccoon (character voiced by Bradley Cooper), followed by Drax The Destroyer (played by WWE’s Dave Bautista alongside Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel).

Guardians of Galaxy opens Aug. 1. Here’s the movie synopsis that went out with the press release:

“An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.”

Paul Walker’s “Fast and Furious 4″ car for sale at $1.4 million

By Armando

Paul Walker’s “Fast and Furious 4″ Nissan GT-R for sale at $1.4 million

A few years ago Steve McQueen’s GT40 fetched for $11 million on a Pebble Beach Auction block, becoming the most expensive American car ever sold. Following the unexpected death of Paul Walker, the tradition of collecting celebrity vehicles is back in business.

Check out the car here: http://suchen.mobile.de

The car in the ad is allegedly the same one used by Paul Walker’s character in Fast and the Furious franchise, a Nissan Skyline GT-R of the R34 which appeared in the fourth film. Apparently, the car was seized by the US government a few months ago, along with many other cars, due to auto safety and emission rules non-compliance.

So how did it end up being in Germany?

A few months ago, a German car magazine posted a review of the car, wherein the owner also reveals its in his possession and has on sale for 300,00 euros (around $400k). Within the last few days, another ad for the car has come up, only this time with a new price: 1 million euros (approximately $1,373,000).

It is kind of creepy when someone cashes in on a former celebrity ownership. But in this day and age, we all know it won’t be the last.
