Final Trailer For Luc Besson’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”

By Creative Media Times

Luc Besson’s CGI spectacle this summer “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” has its final trailer released by STXfilms. This is somewhat a darker and more grim version of what we have seen of the movie so far. It is nonetheless dazzling display of sci-fi adventure that we come to expect from the French auteur.

The previous two trailers were more focused on fun camp aspects of the movie. As different in tone this new trailer is from previous trailers, it remains to be seen whether this new pitch of the film encompass the actual film’s look and feel.

‘Valerian’ is a futuristic adventure set in the 28th century, and involves Valerian and Laureline as a pair of special operative agents for the government keeping the order of human territories in space.

Scheduled for release in theaters July 21, 2017, the Luc Besson film stars Dane DeHaan in the title role of ‘Valerian’ and Cara Delevingne as “Laureline” and includes an eclectic group of actors such as Dane DeHaan, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Rihanna, John Goodman, Rutger Hauer, Herbie Hancock and Kris Wu.

First Look At’ Wonderstruck’

By Creative Media Times

Todd Haynes is not exactly known for making films for all ages, having recently directed provocative R-rated films ‘Carol’, and ‘I’m Not There’. But it’s always great to see inspired artists work outside of their comfort zone.

‘Wonderstruck’ is Haynes’ new movie that is set to debut a week from now at the Cannes Film Festival, which is celebrating it’s 70th anniversary edition, competing for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section.

The movie is set in two time periods, 1927 and 1977. The trailer started in the modern day, in full color, with Ben (Oakes Fegley of ‘Pete’s Dragon’) playing around the American Museum of Natural History, followed by scenes of Rose (Millicent Simmonds) from the past and in black and white.

Scheduled for limited release on October 20, and to be distributed by Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions, the film also stars Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams,

Here’s the official synopsis from the studio’s youtube page:

Based on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.

New Red Band “Baywatch” Trailer Is Hilarious

Baywatch

By Creative Media Times

Paramount Pictures dropped the latest trailer for “Baywatch” and looks more like a spoof than a reboot of the classic TV series. Extremely good-looking people are still there running in slow motion, except this time with an extra surface of rude and super lewd R-rated comedy.

It is also more action-packed than previous trailers of the move we have seen previously, which suggests the studio is finally rolling out is promo blitz two weeks before the film’s release. If luck is on Paramount’s side, this could be this year’s surprise hit “21 jump street” or the start of a franchise ala “Hangover”, both of which attracted frat guys and sorority girls into the summer’s multiplexes.

It helps that the film is directed by Seth Gordon, the man who turned modestly budgeted Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief into certified $100 million hits, and stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, who both attract sizable following.

Also starring, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass, Hannibal Buress, and Rob Huebel, Baywatch is scheduled for release on May 25.

Intense Official Trailer For Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’

Warner Bros.

By Creative Media Times

The official trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” was released by Warner Bros. on Friday and it is both harrowing and epic. Written and directed by Nolan, the movie concerns the mass rescue and evacuation of allied troops from the beaches of Dunkirk, France during World War II, where they were stranded and surrounded by the German army.

British Prime Minister Winston Churchill referred to the events in France “a colossal military disaster”. This line can be heard narrating the opening scenes, and quickly followed by ticking of the clock as we watch the allied troops under duress on land, air and sea.

The trailer is haunting, beautifully shot, and captured the intensity and chaos in Dunkirk. This all reminds us that the acclaimed filmmaker is not slowing down on making such large scale epic films, and that can only be a good thing. Nolan has put his heart and soul into this: in addition to his star-studded cast, he’s recruited 6,000 extras for the film. IMAX cameras were also hand-held by cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema for long durations, a painful yet pioneering practice on a feature film.

Dunkirk hits theaters July 21, similar to Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ and ‘Inception,’ which were both released in July.

Dark Tower’ Trailer Is Finally Here

By Creative Media Times

I do not kill with my gun…I kill with my heart.” ― Stephen King, The Gunslinger

One of the year’s most ambitious adaptations, Sony’s “The Dark Tower” finally got a trailer. Expectations are high on this one: the first of the eight-book saga from which the movie is based on began in 1983 with The Gunslinger, nearly a 35-year wait for fans. From what we have seen so far, its all worth it.

The overarching ideas of the books are there on the trailer, while also keeping some of King’s trademark elements; the discovery of another dimension, the lone gunslinger in a quest to reach the tower, and the vicious sorcerer aka The Man in Black on the chase. And similar to the trailer for King’s other big adaption this year, ‘It’, we find a boy lead us again into a world of mystery and epic journey.

The trailer look busy and broad; as one should expect there is no way to condense King’s series of novels on a 3-minute trailer so fans should keep their expectations in check. It does help to be aware that the movie is not a faithful adaptation but another take on the stories which King crafted over the years.

“The Dark Tower” stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey and Tom Taylor, as Roland Deschain/Gunslinger, Walter/The Man in Black, and Jake Chambers respectively. Directed and co-written by Nikolaj Arcel, the movie also stars Abbey Lee, Katheryn Winnick, Fran Kranz, Claudia Kim and Jackie Earle Haley. The movie is coming to theaters on August 4, 2017.
