Otherwordly Sci-Fi Meets Hard-Boile Noir In Upcoming Miniseries Weird Work This July

Upcoming-Miniseries-Weird-Work-This-JulyLegendary British artist Shaky Kane (The Bulletproof Coffin) and writer Jordan Thomas (Frank at Home on the Farm) will introduce readers to the corrupt, seedy streets of Stellar City in the upcoming, Weird Work. This all-new, four-issue miniseries is set to launch this July from Image Comics.

After months of gang shootings, Weird Work follows Detective Ovra Sawce who is paired with a new partner on a triple homicide. But what were a billionaire’s assistant, a hood-turned-cult leader, and Sawce’s former partner doing in that warehouse?

“I always knew I was writing this series for Shaky,” said Thomas. “So I wanted to play to his strengths by filling the world with a cast of wild, almost psychedelic, characters, whilst also delivering a tough, taut, crime tale in the spirit of comics I love like Brubaker & Phillips’ Criminal and Darwyn Cooke’s Parker adaptations.”

New Series “In Hell We Fight” Taps 16th Century Painter For Incentive Cover

in-hell-we-fight-comicsImage Comics is proud to announce the first comic work by noted 16th Century Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch, whose 1482 surrealist masterwork The Last Judgment will be featured as an incentive jam cover with regular series artist Jok.

An infernal adventure about three condemned kids who rescued a kidnapped angel and start an epic trek across the netherworld to return the angel to heaven, In Hell We Fight is written and lettered by multiple Eisner-award winner John Layman (Chew, Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum, Charlie’s Angels) with art by Argentinian superstar artist Jok, making his Image Comics debut with this exciting new series.

“I’ve been very fortunate that a spectacular assortment of fantastically talented artists have graced the covers of my books over the years,” said Layman in his husky baritone. “And that includes Christian Ward, Dustin Nguyen, and Ben Templesmith on the first three issues of In Hell We Fight. But I’ve never been more thrilled than to work with one of my all-time favorite Dutch Renaissance painters, and I’m equally sure that if Bosch was alive today, he’d be equally ecstatic to be featured on the cover of the first issue of my new Image series.”

Doug Wagner and Doug Dabbs’ New Revenge Story Klik Klik Boom To Launch This June

Klik Klik Boom To Launch This JuneFan-favorite writer Doug Wagner (Plastic, The Ride: Burning Desire) and artist Doug Dabbs (The Ride: Burning Desire) team up with Eisner award winning colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Ed Dukeshire for the forthcoming revenge comic, Klik Klik Boom. This five issue miniseries is set to launch in June from Image Comics.

“I can’t wait for everyone to see the insanity Doug, Matt, Ed, and I cooked up for this book. When this was all starting to stew, I told Doug Dabbs the muses were speaking to me about mixing movies like Fargo and The Fifth Element with the artistic inspirations of Robert Valley and Bengal,” said Wagner. “I wanted to try to find this balance between the old and the new, between neon cyberpunk and crime noir, and wrap all of that in a modern day action tour de force tortilla. The team didn’t let me down.”

In Klik Klik Boom, readers meet Sprout, a mute assassin who communicates exclusively through polaroid pictures. After being raised by her doomsday-prepping grandfather in the rolling hills of Idaho, Sprout has grown up with little exposure to other people, TV, or seen clothes outside of Army fatigues. Now she’s headed to the big lights of New York City to avenge her grandfather’s murder, but will the city’s mesmerizing glitz and glam help her succeed—or be the death of her?

Dabbs added: “I knew after working with Doug on The Ride: Burning Desire that there was a creative chemistry that had to be explored more. With Klik Klik Boom, Doug blew me away with his scripts and we ended up creating a story that’s so different, unexpected, and fun. Working with Matt and Ed was surreal, as they brought their god-level talents to the story. Our main character, Sprout, is a someone people haven’t seen before in any media. I can’t wait for people to meet her and see what we created!”

Klik Klik Boom #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 21. Klik Klik Boom will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

From Local Man To Man-Of-The-Hour New Hit Series Rushed Back To Print

From Local Man To Man-Of-The-Hour New Hit SeriesFan-favorite creators Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Star Wars Adventures) and Tim Seeley (Revival, Hack/Slash) have a hit on their hands with the popular new superhero series, Local Man. The hot debut is being rushed back to print this week in order to keep up with rapid reorder activity.

“Tony and I made Local Man because we loved it. We loved ’90s Image Comics, we loved crime noir stories, and we loved the unlimited potential of the comics medium,” said Seeley. “And to have it connect with readers who were hungry for something new and weird, rewarding us for loving it? Well, that’s the most Image Comics thing that can happen.”

Each issue of the series is a classic Image Comics “flip book”-style format with the lead story drawn by Fleecs and a superhero flashback—into the depths of the Image Universe—drawn by Seeley.

Fleecs added: “It’s been so fun, seeing people’s reactions to the book. I did a bunch of signings the week the first printing came out and watching people’s faces light up when they realized there was a whole other comic on the flip side… It reminded me of that charge I got 30 years ago when I flipped over Youngblood #2 and saw ShadowHawk busting onto the scene for the first time.”

“Dracula, Motherf**ker” Creative Team Reunites For Upcoming Parasocial Graphic Novel This Octob er

Dracula, Motherf Creative Team ReuniteBestselling Dracula, Motherf**ker creative team—Alex de Campi and Erica Henderson—reunite for the upcoming, original graphic novel Parasocial. This thrilling, psychological suspense story will hit shelves this October from Image Comics.

“Parasocial is a twisted exploitation thriller that will leave you never feeling safe at a convention again. It’s a deep dive into all the things we’ve agreed not to talk about in modern fandom and celebrity… with an ending you’ll never see coming,” said De Campi. “Most importantly, it’s Erica’s most beautiful and strikingly innovative book yet. I’m just here to cover up some of her art with words.”

In the middle of the pandemic, a fading genre-TV actor, fresh from his long-running series’ cancellation, collides with an obsessive fan at a Texas convention. When she lures him to her home, he’ll have to put on the greatest performance of his life simply to survive until morning. Unless, of course, he’s the real monster…

Henderson added: “Parasocial is an unsettling glimpse at who we want to be, who other people see, and most horrible of all—who we really are.”
